Instead they chose to not mention it at all, hence the trauma and distress were only given room to grow. Obviously her blaming the son was uncalled for, but so was husband slapping her. Ironically, he's a cop and still raised his hand, knowing it's a form of domestic abuse.

Accidents happen with kids all the time and the fact she blames her son who is a child himself for not taking proper care her daughter is wrong.

But Chen Ting refused her own responsibility and instead blamed her husband for never being home and her son for giving the walnuts to his sister. She took out all her grief and anger on her remaining family instead of cherishing them even more. It sucks to have his mother literally leave him behind and say she doesn't want him anymore... but I'm glad her toxic personality is out of his life. She needs serious help and therapy.

I'm sure she's not the only one having trauma, and she has depression, but that can't justify everything, especially ignoring your only one left kid (she even told him he was the one who killed his sister, like WTF).

I love both dads...but Jian's dad set the standards of an ideal dad too high....especially is happiness when Ziqiu called him dad All the 3 kids did an amazing job and I love their bond Jian's dad and Xiao's dad having the little convo while drinking....the scene was so heart-warming

i saw this drama about 2 years ago and today when I got this as a recommendation i feel mixed emotions. this drama is so good and family, friends, lovers, brothers. this has my heart.
This drama is so healing. I would really suggest this drama for the people who are suffering from childhood traumas for any reason especially because of their parents.
The father speaking about his wife’s death really spoke volumes to me. When my mom died, there was nothing anyone said that comforted me. I hated hearing she’s out of pain, she’s in a better place. It actually made me feel angry. Mentally, I knew it was meant to make me feel better, but I was to grief stricken to think clearly at the time. Time never healed the pain of her loss, I just got use to living without her. I no longer use those phrases when someone experiences loss. I simply say - Im so sorry. I am here. Let me know what I can do for you. I’m not saying it’s wrong to say those things. I just now see it differently.
