True musicians or lovers of music can appreciate this show. That Love's Holiday in concert formation and Space Chords for an intro, Party Rockin super clean....the audience choice was clear.
The musicianship and discipline note for note delivered by FAMU in this video is nothing short of excellent. I've always loved their arrangements and sound as well as that of BCC. Comparing SU to FAMU is comparing apples to oranges as both programs have their own style.
Pharoe Exactly! The only band you can really compare FAMU sound with is BCU, because they both arrange and play their songs with that symphonic concerto type sound.
FAMU vs SU = Impress vs Entertain I was in attendance to be entertained. Yes, the caparison is that of the Apple to Oranges comparison...but let's be honest...everyone in attendance, be it for the team or the band, came to be entertained. Therein lies why FAMU is always "hated" by so many. There are us musicians/instrumentalist in the crowd but the majority just want entertainment
Southern's band is great and So is The 100!!! All of the Obsessive hate for each other is unecessary and very immature. Anybody can nitpick, and find something wrong with every halftime show. Southern had mistakes and so dod The 100, but both bands DID WELL overall!!! Hubba 100!!!
I had to watch this video again....I nominate this halftime of the year and best sounding marching band of the year. EXCELLENT JOB FAMU! GREAT VIDEO MARCHINGSPORT!
it's called rattling. it's a style of marching. and it's used as a means to transition quickly from one aspect of the show to the next so the audience doesn't have to wait to see what they came to see...
We just going to ignore the fact that they messed up the "Star" drill @3:08? Two people just went the wrong way totally and had to come back and one person went the wrong way and was just wandering out there during some of the drill while the rest of the band was in the star formation.
Appreciate the love !! it could have been any school !! it's sad the good suffer with the Bad one thing U can bet is, there will be a humbling experience into what happens next year.
Just shows the impact this band has on crowd attendance.....the next year they were suspended and the stadium was damn near empty with mostly SU fans. The next two years FAMU was taken completely out of this classic, replaced with NCA&T and SCSU ...and now in 2015....its gone.........wow
FAMU has a great symphonic sound, but I don't believe they are to much of a crowd pleaser at all. Famu would dominate in a Symphonic Concert ;) But entertainment goes to SU!!! They ARE one of the Greatest Crowd pleaser's SWAC and MEAC combined. Plus their arrangements, articulation, and style that some commenters in here try to dog down, fit better to the actually song rather than the supreme symphonic sound that FAMU tries to apply. So in all, I'd rather here FAMU at a Concert Hall, SU at Games
I like that fam doing something different this year. I think it only looking bad or funny because people never seen this style come from famu. but BCU JSU SU do it all the time.
is it just me or did that player in the middle of the star go the wrong way at 3:07 and tried to squeeze in line somewhere and then find his spot later???
I don't get FAMU. I'd never choose to listen to them over the Jukebox. Maybe there are too many on on the field. The 100 are cool; FAMU 1000 not so much. As of today, this channel's SU clip has 208,000 views, FAMU clip has 74,321 views - almost 3 to 1 vote for the Human Jukebox.
We just going to ignore the fact that they messed up the "Star" drill @3:08? Two people just went the wrong way totally and had to come back and one person went the wrong way and was just wandering out there during some of the drill while the rest of the band was in the star formation.
MBLAK 100 Yep, he/she went the wrong way, and then hid inbetween the tubas. The line was getting ready to follow the screw up, but they realized he/she was heading the wrong way.
The song is actually called "Love's Holiday" by Earth, Wind, & Fire. "Would you mind" is just part of the lyrics. It's off of the 1977 album "All 'n All". They even mixed in a bit of "Can't Hide Love" off of the Gratitude LP. released in 1975.
Famu I am a SU fan. Your band is great, but like someone said make your band smaller so you can do more filed shows other then that great band and sound.
NOBODY DOES IT BETTER THAN SU THE FIELD. FAMU IS A GREAT BAND. TOO MANY ON THE FIELD TO ONLY DO SUCH SIMPLE DRILLS. 5TH QUARTER SU ALL DAY!!!! OFTEN IMITATED BUT NEVER DUPLICATED.
@@roberthorton6479I think a lot of people like famu because they are so large and you can hear all the instruments clearly. They're sound is undeniably great more so than su. However I like SU's arrangements better. Famu's are a little bit too conservative for me.
there is a say i ng we can sing together but we cant all talk at the same time. if you hear that other band with loud whole notes then you will see why they are just another band just all talking at the same time. HUBBA 1OO
They're not my band, I just recognize the way SU gave it to yall in the 5th that year, "Something in My heart" is telling me there's no way you could be talking about them lol
@Mstifide, due to budget cuts in the State Of Florida, it's costly to travel the whole band, U are right, there were more members in previous years, we had 9 drum majors before. The same is @ BCU, cuts and budgeting. FAMU has to have 10 busses @ a cost over 400,000 everytime the band shows up, this why they didn't go on the road as much, so I say to U when it's time to vote, do your part so, we can see our HBCU's Shine !! This is nothing I'm saying to you out of guessing, facts I work there.
+Nijul Cable It's not too many people. It's the marching Directors. The Texas A&M Aggie band have the same numbers as famu, but their drills are precise, and clean AF!
+Mahthias Fountain i didnt say nothin about bein clean. I said too many ppl on the field. It's hard to see what they making. They sound good but they boring to watch. AND DOWN!
famu aint nothing but heads meaning one HUGE ass band other than that no creativity, no amazing wow factors, no dancers. I mean famu is a good band, but calling them amazing ?? huh no far from that, I think people just have been paying attention to the size and not the actual band. yes seeing them marching down the road, or in the stands you become fascinated with such a big band, but once you actually listen to them, or watch their style yea its not so great.
It was a good show, but it's not way way better than SU's show like everyone is trying to make it out to be. Both bands had good shows. They did shows that fit their style and their size. Of course SU blows(or overblows) when they play. That's their style. It's a brass band style, plus they're like a third FAMU's size. Though they need to watch getting out of control. A band FAMU's size can afford to play a mild volume all the time. And nothing wrong wit controlled screaming. The greats did it
How do yall go from having 40 plus tubas a couple of years ago to not even 30 now? They're still clear as day, though. Side note, that was a little tacky there at the end for FAMU's standards.
All those musicians!!! Shame. Where are the squads? You know...4 people marching next to one another? Why is it that 98% of the time the band is facing the audience?
Famu has a beautiful full sound no one is tryna scream there just playing now su they are trash they are loud and sloppy its like they write all thier music with no dynamics is their music for middle schools or sum

Watching this again hundred has sheer power
To open the show with space chords was epic!!!
thanks i was wondering what that was. That was so cool imo. They have a great sound.
if you ever want to hear a crowd react to dynamics listen at 7:17 only the 100

its not an Atlanta Classic if its not FAMU vs Southern or either Tennessee St period. Hopefully we can get it back
+Daniel Owens Agreed!, but they should of tried BCU v ASU

I like the intro. The Blue Devils drum and bugle corps use that as a warm-up. Very good job.

@Mstifide they normally do but FAMU is smaler this year than in previous years. just look at last year's band and the band from 2009 as well
thats their style
I think it's actually Love's Holiday, but I might be wrong
