@@neilb3332 covid, polarized country, economic crisis, racial tensions, inept government, madlib album...not a bad year. (i am of course just being sarcastic. be safe y'all.)
"Madlib is credited vaguely as responsible for all instruments besides drums on Pardon My French-whether or not he’s literally playing these instruments is both doubtful and beside the point-but his approach is grounded in pulling all the strings at once."
Woohoo ! If the sound quality was a little less than perfect and you told me that this was pressed on the Black Jazz label, I'd believe you all day ! Can't wait to get my silk-pressing in the mail.
yo so can someone clarify this for me, madlib plays the trumpet on this too? like i know the keys etc but the trumpet? he taught himself how to play the trumpet?
Does anyone know how to obtain one of Jahari Massamba Unit's Pardon My French t-shirts? I know they are sold out, but I thought I would ask if anyone might know of a source. Thank you very much,
@Niko Delic Hey man. You may be right. I don't only know Miles Davis, however I wilfully confess that my knowledge of jazz only extends so far. That is not to say that I do not absolutely love the stuff I know, however. So yes, call me cliché if you will, but Coltrane and Miles are my two favourites lol. Perhaps you could suggest some other records or artists to check out? That would be much appreciated. I have listened to a bit of Sun Ra, but not a lot.
@Niko Delic Aw man, thank you so much for giving me all these suggestions. That is really kind of you. I've been wanting to expand my listening for quite some time, but haven't always known where to look or had anyone to discuss with. I'm looking forward to listening to all these albums now. Thank you so much! :-)
@@craigr4763 With Coltrane and Miles, you’re standing at or near the top of the jazz mountain! For jazz funk fusion, I think the best it got for me was Herbie Hancock’s Head Hunters Lp in 1973. Check that out if you haven’t already. I also love more traditional jazz and bebop
Keep living cuz sometimes you get to hear some great shit

...been waiting for that new jazz for a very long time
Me too
Madlib with the fire as always, Along with this, kamaal Williams release this year I’m extremely pleased with 2020
To be clear, Madlib played all the instruments on this one (besides K-Rigs on drums).
When did Madlib pick up TRUMPET
He can sing in the TRUMPET
He's a musician, Here's his uncle, John Faddis. th-cam.com/video/5S-zMlBpWEs/w-d-xo.html His parents are also musicians.
he told that the keys, the percussions and a little bit guitar are the live instruments.trumpet, horns etc. are samples

@@mrcrumb4302 Wait Faddis is really Madlib's uncle?? He's a direct Dizzy Gillespie brass horn genius!!!

where to get the Mp3?
The song titles are unhinged wtf
abit far out for me this one,not feeling it tbh
Not really feeling it to be honest. Sounds like a bastardized impression of Miles Davis. Is that too harsh a criticism?
