The term Military Grade always cracks me up. In the 80's, the military had transitioned from the 1911 to the Beretta as the standard sidearm. On the "Military Grade" version, after 1,000 rounds, the slide had to be changed because of the number of injuries from the slide cracking and coming off in the shooter's face. The civilian version of the same model didn't have that issue.
Because that's never happened to any civilian model gun, and is a perfect example of every piece of equipment ever acquired by he military. Just like how the M1903 Springfield turned out to be garbage because the first models had heat treatment issues. That's how you know they are all just cheap crap made by the lowest bidder. And that's also why the M16/AR-15 was such a flop, because it clearly proved it was complete crap after it was introduced in Vietnam. Definitely not a normal part of new weapon acquisition.
The slide cracking issues were caused by the out of spec 9mm NATO dod sourced. The test pistols for the xm9 tails survived 12,500 rounds without slide failures; plus it's never been an issue with civilian and police 92's which has been in circulation for over a decade. Plus dod had to pay Beretta to implement the design changes. Beretta's "fix" doesn't prevent cracking, but instead prevents a rained slide from leaving the frame and hitting the shooter. Beretta cut a shallow groove on the bottom left face at the back of the slide, all little longer than the length of travel. Then an oversized head hammer pin is installed in the frame. The edge of the pin head rides in the slide groove and stops the slide during a failure. With proper spec ammo slide failures are not an issue, but all m9/92's going forward have the oversized pin.
@@justforever96the real problem with both rifles was government incompetence. The 1903 receiver failures were due to government employees at Rock Island Arsenal performing the heat treat by eye instead of using pyrometers to accurately gauge the temperature. The inquiry found a 50-70 degrees difference for a given red color of the steel from a cloudy day to a sunny day. So they were over hardening the steel making then brittle. Springfield Arsenal did use pyrometers and there 1903's did not have the catastrophic failures. The m16 got a bad rap because of dod penny pinching. To save money surplus powder was used to make early 5.56 NATO; that powder has a very different pressure curve then the rifle was designed for. So the bolts were trying to extract too early while the case was still under pressure, and we're ripping case heads off. Factor in cleaning kits we're never procured to save money, now you have a disabled right with no way clear the chamber. So it's not fair to blame the rifles and there engineering when people don't follow procedures or source out of spec ammo.
It was well documented that the military was using sub-machine gun ammo in the pistol. The 9mm ammo was loaded to +p+ specs but the pistol was not rated for it. Civilians tend to pay attention to little details like that because they actually spend their own money.

I bought a 100% fuel free also rechargeable lighter from temu for 5 bucks. It is fairly nice however. Has a digital display. You get about 25 lights before you have to recharge it. It works by creating an arc between two elements, no flame so it's only use is lighting cigarettes.
Thanks for that. I thoroughly despise every ad that claims it's military grade hardware. The flashlight with the 2 mile range thats super bright, used by special forces to spot enemies (that somehow doesnt give away their position). The sectional hiking stick. There are so many.
I own one of these! I got one as a Christmas gift from my uncle back when they were literally still just marketed as what they are supposed to be: a table lighter for cigars.
In Australia we are currently getting a very similar ad on TH-cam, but where yours says it was developed by the US SF, ours says it was developed by the Australian military, along with the same secret nonsense.
Great video! I bought one of the same lighter seen here but I instantly regretted making the order and I cancelled. Now I have no regrets. I suggest to anybody who ordered one themselves call your bank or credit card company and report fraud and demand, or just ask politely for your money back.

I bought the original one from HackSmith when it was released and it's a lifesaver when camping. My only complaint was that it didn't hold a ton of fuel, although they did fix that in the gen 2 model.
What's wrong with a Bic lighter? I never understood the point of these things. Unless you are like working on a mountain or something in constant high winds. These just use fuel up like crazy, they don't ignite things better, flame is flame. And bics are super cheap and portable, and useful for many things.
@@justforever96 Nothing wrong with a bic lighter. I'd even prefer one if concerned about fuel usage. This lighter had helped me when I somehow forgot tinder and all I had to burn was damp wood. Beside a rare case like that, ya a bic is probably a better option.
Glad I watched this , I too was fascinated by the adverts and was considering buying one of these ‘purely electric, non- butane, dual plasma beam’ wonders! 😂

The comedic setup of this vid is impeccable! I 100% believed this was an electric lighter until you put the butane in and I laughed so hard I choked on my hamburger. Thanks for almost killing me, I guess?
I like you, I really do ! I appreciate you’re humor and your honest reviews regardless how good or trashy the product is. I’m telling you now I’ll get over it but I’ll never forget these 12 minutes of my life you just burned up with that torch. Keep up the good work, I’m off to go shopping for some composite toe osha approved sandals now.
It's crazy how it says rechargeable, and people on amazon are complaining about it not and how it's a scam. The thing is electric lighters usually use a piezo element to make the electricity. It just moves the electrons around. You don't need to charge it. I've had a electric torch that's lasted for years you just have to keep it filled with butane.
You are correct, but on the flip side I've also had thousands that just stop working either like after the first time u refuel it, or God forbid you use it for too long at once, and thing starts melting on the inside... Hell I've bought several that worked the first 3 times I sparked em at the register while paying, get to the car or get home, and it's doneso
And yes I too have many that are years n years old n spark up first try each time.., got a vector torch for dabbing that's 15 years old and still works rn
Would work good as a gas grill lighter. After a year when the igniter stops working, use this instead of those wimpy long fireplace/candle lighter that you have to click 10 times to get to work
I think my favorite thing about the advertisement is the opening line "Amazon hates this but theres nothing they can do about it..." I wasnt aware that amazon had a vendetta against lighters 😂
Yep. I fell for it. Bought one several months ago, got it, saw it needed butane, wondered if I had heard the commercial wrong, went to the website ... Nothing on there even hides that it's butane ... Huh?!? Wtf did I watch claiming it was fuelless Tesla blah blah blah ... I didn't know if I'd been scammed or if I'd misheard or dreamed it or wtf happened.
I bought one of the dumb “Tesla lighters” after seeing a cool ad for one on here. I guess it was fine as a lighter, it had somewhat competent build quality, but for $25 plus shipping, I could get at least ten decent lighters from a gas station. The biggest problem was the battery life though, so I couldn’t take it with me camping or anything. Probably would have made a good sibling taser though…
So, I bought one. And, now... if only I had some crack... Lol. (You think I'm joking!) BUT, actually, for difteen bucks? That actually sounds like a pretty good deal. This seems like it could get a fire going with wet wood or in the rain, etc. (I usually gust carry Mapp gas if car camping, and a bic when backpacking, but i could see this replacing thw bic when I'm out in the spring or fall in the Pac NW rainforests, as is my wont. Also, this is a tangent, but, re: survivalists who carry their their flint and steel and fatwood and firebiws, etc, etc... Bic lighters are still about two bucks, and a dozen of them, which weigh less than a pound altogether, can start, literally, ten thousand fires. Fn loonies! (Not YOU, if course, the OTHER survuvalists that carry ferrociun rods, magnesiym, char cloth, etc...)
I never saw any ads for this thing. But from this review, I might actually buy one. $15 seems a little high for a lighter, but that 6 inch flame is pretty cool.
Ironically I have never seen any of these advertisements. I just happened to need a lighter and this one came up when I searched it. The flame was impressive when I got it. Easily the most powerful lighter I've ever had. I use it for incense and play around with it. I have also used it to crisp toast. Satisfied with my purchase.
Isn't it illegal to mis-advertise a product to this degree, it's a butane lighter but they don't just fail to tell you that they fully claim it's not a butane lighter and is something completely different, it's just a complete lie, that must be illegal, how do they get away with it?
@@cncwizardIt's not just a Chinese issue, it's being falsely advertised on many western media platforms with the advertising videos made by Western sellers.

WTF! You have to be kidding me! I was told this is top secret special forces military grade technology. It's basically a real-life lightsaber according to the very trustworthy TH-cam ad I saw. I just cannot believe that it's just a regular ol' butane ligher.
As a welder and a cigar enthusiast, the thought of having plasma near my face is horrifying. The advertisement is hilarious. It’s a big butane torch at best lol. The precharged electricity has me interested though haha.
No surprises but nice to have it confirmed without having to spend the money. It has got to go through the fuel incredibly quickly, but still, cool looking.
Mr. Tesla will be livid when he finds this out! When I was growing up there was a "truth in advertising" *LAW* passed to keep the public safe from this type of BS. Wonder what happened to that? 😮
You should have bought the Hacksmith mini lightsabres. They are similar to this and made by "The Hacksmith" TH-camrs and look cooler and are gonna be of clearly higher quality vs some Chinese crap and you can get addon discs that can change the colour of the flame. They clip around the place the flame exits and contain minerals and metals that react with the flame to change its colour
Well, technically part of a butane flame is a plasma, and air plasma lighters that use a remote variation on a technology invented by Nikola Tesla exist, but that’s not one of them. So the ad isn’t *complete* bs, it’s just name-dropping misleading advertising hype which includes a tiny fragment of fact which shouldn’t surprise anyone. Fifteen bucks is kinda steep though. I bought a “crack pipe” torch at a smoke shop that produces a similar flame that sits upright on its own and has a lock so it stays lit hands free for nine bucks. The butane tank is even clear so you can see how full it is. I think I’ll stick with that.
We've definitely gotten a strong flame out of some battery powered products, and I'm confident we can do so reliably. They just happen to be one use, not sure if that's an issue or not :P

There are so many.
watching this at 2 am. way better than sleeping.
Same, I have to be up in 4 hours.
Our advertisement says it was developed secretly by the Canadian Military. 🇨🇦
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😊
Great video! I bought one of the same lighter seen here but I instantly regretted making the order and I cancelled. Now I have no regrets. I suggest to anybody who ordered one themselves call your bank or credit card company and report fraud and demand, or just ask politely for your money back.
Crocodile dundee lighter.
"that's not a lighter, this is a lighter".
lol
I have seen that butane lighter advertised on here many times and many times I've said to myself that is totally BS. Never did not use butane or some sort of fuel there would be no way for it to light the way it does. I appreciate the fact that you gave the sarcastic answer and I only wish that it would move these people from advertising on here. It's totally BS.
I love the reviews, they are worth a read too
“I wanted an electric torch”
Well, you are going to be disappointed lol
Love your shirt, are you a vet? I retired from the Air Force right at 20 years. I pretty much did what you do now, working on heavy equipment on the flight line.
Keep it up, your videos impress and give me a good laugh at the stupidity of some people. The way you call them out is on point!
I am not a vet but I respect any one who served 👍🏻
@@FunkFPV I really appreciate that, thank you! I retired in 2015. I do miss it at times, but I get reminded each day how hard on your body heavy equipment maintenance is.
Gotta give it to you Wes, the Thumbnail is masterclass of thumbnails PLUS the tinge of sarcasm in the eye. Chefs kiss 😚 👌
Ope: edit. you forgot the Arrow pointing a the thing -minus 0.5 points.
9.5 final score :))
Haha I was going hard on the Macaulay Culkin face 😜
I was waiting for this review from the exact second I saw the lighter ad. Never seen an electronic flame b4.
Beside a rare case like that, ya a bic is probably a better option.
gotta love ya brother! Honesty, a lost art... with a side of sarcasm, another lost art. I really enjoy your content!
360 degrees and then proceeds to do the finger test...
Those are work hardened hands 😂
To be fair I have very little feeling in my fingers from years of burning them 😜
8:59 checking if the fire is hot 😅
Thank you, kind, sir for saving me 24 bucks and change😮 when I first saw the commercial I was about to buy me one or two
Dammit, you had me going for a few minutes. Was pulling out my wallet when my balloon was burst. 😂😂😂
Glad I watched this , I too was fascinated by the adverts and was considering buying one of these ‘purely electric, non- butane, dual plasma beam’ wonders! 😂
I'm thinking about buying a Chinese EV. The real "value pack": Car, cheap, and flame-thrower, all in one assembly.
I am shocked and offended that some rando on the internets would sell something under false advertising... I called it bs on the fuel free part the first time i saw the ads and Im glad you proved me right. LOL
I"m shocked... shocked I say
I literally got an ad for it after this video with Joe rogans voice 😂
I keep seeing these ads too. Looked like shit to me
And now from watching this fine presentation, my FB will be full of these ads.
Touche'
We need class action lawsuit against Google and Facebook for running these ads without paying attention to user reports. I am sure many people would have reporters after being scammed by these cheats.
Yeah how they get away with blatant advertising fraud is mind boggling
The comedic setup of this vid is impeccable!
I 100% believed this was an electric lighter until you put the butane in and I laughed so hard I choked on my hamburger. Thanks for almost killing me, I guess?
I bought one too. The pinnacle of false advertising. It's actually a great lighter for camping and lighting cigars.
4:58 - Good situational awareness with the face and flame. 🔥
Thank you for this much needed video. Reminds me of the Chinese survival staff/warrior-shovel/spear/fire starter/tri-pod???/etc,etc,etc.
@@dabmanian_devil you aren't wrong either. Not all lighters are built the same!
Would work good as a gas grill lighter.
After a year when the igniter stops working, use this instead of those wimpy long fireplace/candle lighter that you have to click 10 times to get to work
Every time…….lol.
Hacksmith sells this (butane fired) as their mini saber. It’s a great butane lighter/mini torch.
Multiple companies sell them. I have had 2 for a few years now. They work great. Start my fireplace, charcoal grill, etc.
I think my favorite thing about the advertisement is the opening line "Amazon hates this but theres nothing they can do about it..."
I wasnt aware that amazon had a vendetta against lighters 😂
I bought one of those for $6 dollars 3 or 4 years ago. Its been a pretty good investment. I like it.
I also like using tools that are three times bigger than they need to be, as long as they look pretty cool.
This lighter was classified? Okay, “UNCLASSIFIED” is a classification, by definition.
Crossover with AvE would be killer. Keep it up brother.
I'm surprised I didn't get the ad for this thing when I started watching the video...
It's now fireblaze I need the commercial please I was dying of laughter
You were scammed 😁👍🏻
The production quality has improved!!
Haha that’s funny the add for that lighter popped up as I was watching your video 😂😂😂
Lol. (You think I'm joking!)
BUT, actually, for difteen bucks?
Keep an eye out when you are at convenience stores and dollar stores, I have seen lighters just like this at the checkout for half the price.
Love your stuff dude, cheers from N. California 🍻
Wife bought me one for my Bday just as a novelty to light my cigars, charcoal bbq and camp fires. As a flame thrower / lighter, its pretty neat.
Who's gonna fight with the Chinese government over this? That's the sad part.
@@cncwizardIt's not just a Chinese issue, it's being falsely advertised on many western media platforms with the advertising videos made by Western sellers.
How to combat this false advertising you ask? Buy it then request a full refund with return shipping paid if they wish the product back based on false advertising. If they decline, cancel the transaction with you payment processor.😂
Your advertising algorithm probably thinks you're the world's biggest sucker with how much junk you buy off advertisements 😂
Haha 🤣
8:29 “that’s shooting out 6 inches”. You just leave Taco Bell?
Maybe 😋
No surprises but nice to have it confirmed without having to spend the money.
It has got to go through the fuel incredibly quickly, but still, cool looking.
I think that's to make lighting a bong easier. Also, it's got the reach of a crack lighter
Have a bernz o matic head that is 30+ years old. Its older than my kiddos, and works harder.
I also put down a mat when I plan to spray six inches.
I love dry humor, cheers my friend
do you think "comb"technology will ever catch up to lighter technology?
Ive seen the exact thing on amazon a while back. Looks like a fun toy that i don't need
They seem to have copied most of their claims from "tactical" LED flashlight scam ads tbh. Fun video😂
I was thinking the same thing 😂
That could be useful for a little on the go jewelry repair torch for when I don't want to tote my full rig.
Isn't youtube supposed to be stopping these ads that are false and fake. They sure go after content creators for bs
Not only that but that video is full of copyrighted material.
After their little desktop "upgrade"... I mean cmon. They're barely keeping it together at this point.
I started thinking either you're drunk or someone is holding a gun to your head 😮😮
I'm not going to lie. I actually would like one of those for starting a little fire.
Been wondering if this was going to be reviewed thanks
