I worked on the 87 in 1993 and ran it at both Pocono ARCA races finishing 11th in July, it was turned into a Lumina returned to Daytona for the 1994 ARCA 200, DNQ for the race and Joe stopped racing after what happened during Speedweeks that year. @@SimRacin14 Your welcome, I really enjoy this series. In 1993 we ran two cars that season, the Monte Carlo at Pocono and an Oldsmobile that had been purchased from Morgan-McClure Racing that was used as the High Speed car at Daytona, Michigan, and Atlanta (DNQ, crashed in qualifying, and I believe that killed that car, that also necessitated making the Monte Carlo a Lumina for '94 because I think '93 was the last year you could run that generation of Monte sheetmetal. Nice documentary.
Almost all of those cars have umpteen lives, a friend in upstate NY has a 2000-ish cup Monte Carlo that somebody last ran ARCA with, but some bondo chunking off on the side revealing older paint, and a couple decals inside, imply it was an Andy Petree #55 originally. Never have been able to find out anything firm. Car changed hands a couple times up here before he got it, I was surprised to see it because I'd seen it for sale in a driveway on a back road maybe a year before.
He has another one with no body that the guy he bartered with to get it claimed was a Petty car, but it's not even clear what make it was built as, it has a ton of post-Nascar alterations.

I saw a video from RCR about all the 3 cars in the museum. Jerry Haley said that the 86 Wrangler Monte Carlo was raced all the way up to 1995 and it clinched several championships. It’s amazing that a chassis can be used for that amount of time and still be so successful. If I recall correctly I think chassis #5 had the most wins on it and it’s in the museum but I can’t recall which car it is up there.

That was a very good episode man. I learned a few things I never dreamed of. I guess after Benson wrecked the car the last time. The frame was Bent and would never steer true ever again. That Bobby Hill wreak was was very exciting. Flip's the car six or seven times. I think they should be aloud to do this to there cars, nowadays. That M&M's car was nice and went missing. That Pontiac Benson had was scary fast in 2000. I miss Pontiac, Buick and Oldsmobile.

I don't know if anyone has posted this question, but how about the Blue Max car Rusty Wallace drove called Samson? If my memory is correct(a hit or miss deal, lol), the car was built as a Monte Carlo by the Joel Halpern race team for David Pearson in 1981(one of the early '81"downsized" chassis). When Halpern was killed later that year, the car was bought by another team, or sold directly to Raymond Beadle. Possibly the MC Anderson team? Whatever the trail it took, it ended up in the Blue Max race stable as a Pontiac(as a Lemans, then a Grand Prix), and was used by Tim Richmond, then Rusty Wallace with good success in the late '80's. The reason I remember the car is an article in Winston Cup Scene that documented the years-long lineage of this particular car and the fact such an "old" chassis was still a winning one.

9:26 I found something else about the car before Bob Hill went behind the wheel of it
Around June-July 1995, a guy named Junior Green apparently ran that chassis in the NASCAR Sportsman Division (the one from the early 90s) in both Pocono Races that year, with an old Monte Carlo body.
This is mentioned by Eli Gold in the July race broadcast (here is the clip: th-cam.com/video/48kG-Fwuzpw/w-d-xo.html )
Junior didn't ran the remaining 2 races of the 1995 Sportsman schedule so I guess at some point after July he may have sold the car to Clement or something

5:30 who else feels that NASCAR should have a few races where they use old style cars?
Maybe like a different era of vehicles each other year. Make this part of the series like on the short tracks or the roval
have the roval use Monte Carlos and Thunderbirds. Anyone else feel like this would be a neat idea and would make the racing better again?
(Toyota can enter the celica/supra from the early 80's)

The side sheet metal is on Dale Jr's podcast studio wall. Most likely sold off or reskinned and collecting dust locked away at DEI.

It's on display at Talladega. It's painted the traditional Bud #8 scheme. It's in as race conditioned. It doesn't have an engine it it. I believe Junior won the last of the four in a row at Dega with it. I think he won like 6 or 7 plate races with it.

My belief is that Teresa has it. Dale Jr said that she has a lot of Dale Sr's stuff including: cars, trophies, and other belongings. So I wouldn't be surprised if that was true

I have heard that it's in a storage unit somewhere, but I also heard that it was destroyed after the investigation into the accident... all I know is that Kevin Harvick did not drive that particular car ever

Wow i never knew that sheet metal can just be slapped onto an old body. It looks like the only time the term "Stock Car" is appropriately used is in the 1940s and 50s.
The only stock car that can be used today is in drag racing 😂

Actually the Car DJ won the 2000 Daytona 500 did compete before the 2003 500. DJ drove it one more time in 2002 in the 500, they even talked about it during Daytona 500 Qualifying that year.

This is the mew NASCAR, It should go like this .
--you get 1 car per track style, 1 back up car as well per tracl style.---- this saves $$$$$
----limit up grades to allowing upgrades 4 times quarterly thorugh out the season.--$$$$
----all modifications or up grades are allowed just 4 times at specific times quarterly. ---
---These things will keep cost down for teams I think it would keep racing and the roots.
