NYC Government Traumatizes Gun Owners

  • In its battle against guns, New York City traumatizes law-abiding gun owners who pass through New York and its airports with guns. One man was even arrested for traveling with an empty magazine.
    --------
    Don't miss a single video from Stossel TV, sign up here: johnstossel.ac...
    ---------
    Bills have been filed in both chambers of Congress to make gun permits valid in all states, which would prevent cases like these.
    Stossel interviews Patricia Jordan and Avi Wolf, who were arrested at the airport. Patricia had tried to declare her gun, which was unloaded and in a TSA-approved case. Avi was trying to declare an empty gun magazine-essentially a piece of metal with a spring in it.
    For their effort they spent a day in jail. They were threatened with three years and six months in jail-the mandatory minimum for having a gun in New York. They spent months worrying about how to beat the charge. Each spent more than $15,000 in legal bills.
    Eventually the government let them off with a violation-"public disorder."
    Stossel says: Give me a break. He confronts the Queens District Attorney's office that prosecutes such cases.

(And by the way, I realize no states are free today but they could be if we broke off from this horribly corrupt federal government and discouraged communists/socialists/liberals from living in the free states)

      EP114587 in NY u can own a firearm, but u have so many restrictions that the only firearm u can carry is a musket or revolver. Just like cali they have banned semi auto firearms carrying more then 10 rounds. All but one firearm i own can hold more then 10 rounds. These states banned AR-15 based rifles and AK based rifles. Y? So the hurt feelings squad can determine what we can have? I live in AZ and an officer here, u look at the crime rate here where its a free state to carry vs cali or NY where gun laws r crazy. U will notice that criminals love gun laws cause no one can protect themselves so its easy targets. And i have not drew my firearm on any law abiding citizen that has a gun on them. I believe in peoples God given freedoms, granted some officers dont like that but they r the few.

Y do u think a police officer will draw his firearm at every suspect? VS an officer in a state where everyone carries a firearm where the bad guy will likely think twice before trying to rob someone or even shoot at an officer. Gun free zones dont work

When it comes to adem shift or how ever u spell his name unfortunately he has not broken any laws to be arrested, just because he has no integrity dont mean he can be arrested for it.

      @@otrelf5983 It's all just smoke and mirrors for those in DC to make us believe that they're more powerful than they really are. This has been going on since the 1930's. Virtually all Congressmen are in the pockets of the gun and ammo manufacturers in one way or another and every President in the last 75 years has taken a pro or con stance on gun control and become much more wealthy doing so. Obama is a classic example. He was the greatest gun salesman in the last 50 years because of his supposed dislike of our 2nd amendment rights. He came into office with a self worth of less than $2,000,000 and left office worth $48,000,000. Explain to me how he accomplished that on $400,000 per year? As long as anything to do with Gun's is as profitable as it is for those criminals in DC it will never been ended. As far as outlawing Gun's and possible confiscation goes, if you believe that you're a fool. The Federal state and local governments are lucky if they can keep up with their own Gun's let alone everybody else's. Any confiscation would be on an honor system at best. Example; (Cops at front door) "Mr.Jones, we're here to collect your guns, (Mr Jones reply), l Don't have any Gun's. (Cops) Ok sir thank you and have a nice day". And that's optimistic, where are they going to get the manpower to collect all the guns currently in the hands of all the Americans? Bear in mind "Posse Comitatus" where the federal government cannot use any branch of the military against its citizenry on US soil. It's all just bullshit,

    the 1986 FOPA "safe passage provision" was specifically made to protect gun owners traveling through a state where their firearms are illegal as long as its legal in the origin state and destination
    also that lady used the wrong lock when traveling with a firearm. she is required to have a lock that no one else has access too, meaning TSA locks can not be used to secure firearms. if they need to open luggage with a firearm they have to have the owner present, which is why i put a firearm in each case when i travel just so i can use a real pad lock and not those cheap TSA locks.
    if the NY judicial system wont adhere to the FOPA "safe passage provision" they are the ones breaking the law, maybe someone should use the second amendment to protect them selves from the unlawful government there, after all that's what the second amendment is there for

    • @PHOBOS300
      @PHOBOS300 7 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      also the reason they let those people plead guilty to lesser charges is because they want to make a example of people but they can't do it with their unconstitutional laws because they will be appealed and then their laws will be ruled unconstitutional
      so they have to be careful to only charge people that cant afford a good lawyer with them so as not to have their tyranny ruined by an appeals court, and everyone else they just threaten to charge and "let" them plead down to a lesser charge so they can make money off of them, the court wins, the lawmakers that want the tyranny win, and the lawyers win, everyone wins.(except the lawful citizen) even the violent criminals win because they are protected by having their victims disarmed.

    • @EternalRecursion
      @EternalRecursion 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Phobos - I just searched 1986 FOPA, and the language specifically protects people traveling THROUGH any state where firearms restrictions are excessive, like NY. It does NOT protect anyone traveling TO NYC.

      @PHOBOS300 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      that's exactly what i said "as long as its legal in the origin state and DESTINATION" i would assume that these people are smart enough not to go to NY just to go to NY. there's nothing to see but liberal shit there.
      the next logical assumption is that the fastest way to get where they were going involved an airport in NY probably trying to get to a neighboring state.

    • @EternalRecursion
      @EternalRecursion 7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Watch the video again, they went to NYC as visitors. It seems pretty clear the woman, with the three teenage girls, was a tourist, not sure about the guy, but Stossel calls him, "Another visitor."

    • @PHOBOS300
      @PHOBOS300 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      the thing is that some of the closest airports to parts of the neighboring states are in NY and they try to get people like that i don't think the guy says where he was going to so he may have been passing through, and the lady says she stayed at a hotel but doesn't say where, but it sounded like she was staying in NY sorta but no way to tell for sure, as for the visitor part that doesn't really say much if they were just passing through they would still be visitors.
      either way NY knows their law wouldn't hold up in appeals its basically a threat to waste all your money in litigation only to have the law found unconstitutional, or plea guilty to a lesser charge and only waste most of your money

He like me is British and he wanted to learn how to repair guns and as you will know that is not a common job in Britain so he signed up for a course with an American gunsmith. Part way through the course he had to come back to Britain for a few days and wanted to bring back a gun he had repaired. It was all legal, he had the licence and everything else he needed so he rang up the TSA to find out how to go about it and followed the advice to the letter. He arrived at the airport, tried to check it in and was immediately arrested. The end result was that he was banned from entering America in the future so he couldn't finish the course which meant after spending thousands of dollars he didn't get the qualification he was aiming for.
    It might be called the land of the free but that certainly needs some qualification in some states.

      Dude. That is just incredibly unjust. I can't believe some cop thought he was doing something right when he did that. Sorry he had to go through that. We treat people worse than the UK apparently

      @@thndr_5468 Cops rationalize everything they do. It's why cops in oppressive jurisdictions usually end up as terrible people. When your job is to ruin decent people's lives for actions that don't hurt anyone, and you have to convince yourself that you're a good person for doing it, it completely warps your world view. And your mind.

      So the smart thing to do, lesson learned, is to fly out of the country from another state, or give the gun to a courier.
