Prometheus and Grafana are the two popular open-source tools for collecting and visualizing performance metrics. In this blog post, we are going to set up the Kubernetes cluster on AWS, later we are gonna set up the Prometheus server for collecting the performance metrics and Grafana.
Prometheus and Grafana are always a great combination when it comes to measuring the site reliability index. SREs (Software Reliability Engineers) heavily rely on Prometheus and Grafana because apart from collecting performance metrics, you can also set up some alerts, live views, and custom dashboards.
At the end of the session, you will have the Kubernetes cluster running on AWS and Prometheus, a Grafana dashboard for monitoring the Kubernetes cluster. Here are the key points that we will touch upon -
1. Install AWS CLI and eksctl
2. Setup AWS Credentials
3. Install kubectl
4. Install Helm chart
5. Create Kubernetes cluster in AWS using eksctl
6. Install Kubernetes Metrics Server
7. Install Prometheus
8. Install grafana
9. Import Grafana dashboard from Grafana Labs
10. Deploy a spring boot microservice and monitor it on Grafana

But I have a personal question. In my current Environment we have 45 Pods running on AWS-EKS cluster.
We want to create to 45 Dashboards for all our PODS is this possible ? Can we monitor Pods individually using grafana and Prometheus.

I have question: what happens when we use two Prometheus application/server at different port or ip but uses same metric or target end point where it needs to scrape metrics. Will it able to scrape data as usual or will there be metrics missing or unusuality while scrapping data because of two Prometheus with same scrapping interval or different interval

Very well explained, I have seen both of your videos, one thing I don't understand so you will be running two instance of prometheus in your company, one is for linux hosts and another is for Kubernetes, can't we manage one prometheus application where we can see infra stats as wells as container stats?

Thanks for the video. But why there is no data for Memory, Cpu usage.. I also tried this same dashboard .. It says N/A. Also Is there any dashboard available to view namespace cpu and memory usage ?
for the people having the problems with pods not starts check what kubernetes version you are running in the guide he is using version 1.22 i had 1.26 and that did not work after using the commands from the guide where the 1.22 version is defined it then would start the pods

Can we scape prometheus metrics from 2 different AKS clusters into 3rd AKS cluster?? If yes, do we need thanos in each cluster or we need thanos only in 3rd cluster where all the metrices will be collected? Do we need to install full-fledged prometheus in each cluster or operator will work?
