Great video, new to your channel as my brother in law intruduced me to your videos. just received my pirates 3 zd racing 5 days ago and man I love it, its a no electronics kit that was already 90% assembled in box. I am running a 120amp esc beast with a 2200kv and 3s 5200mah battery 80c. Yes i know 3s... 3s is find for me and this buggy came with a 14t pinion gear which worked decent, however I run a 17t for more top speed. I also ordered a 19,20 and 21t pinion that I am waiting to receive soon and can't wait to try it. I can't run it to hard at the moment thou because it broke... not the trucks fault but mine... I took my eyes off it for 2 seconds to look at the wife's kite and must of sub consciously turned at the same time and ran right into a wooden post that was nearby at about 30km an hour.... if it would of hit straight on it would of survived but the left tire took the full blow and it bent the pin that holds the lower arm on and popped the arm off from the frame. I have a temporary fix on it right now as I wait for the parts to arrive from china *2-5 weeks if im lucky!). was only 21 bucks Canadian for the pin and the left and right arms shipped and tax so its a cheap fix. Id say with the 17t pinion and setup I have it does around 65-70 kmph but that's just guessing. great thou. I never owned a traxxas or anything else other then wltoys rc's so this seems great to me, but im sure if you have used many different rc's in the past you may be more opinionated.
Couldn't find the video where you troubleshoot and determined that there was no damage video!!! (i went to your live stream channel link in the description) Awesome video, loved it. I've been looking at this buggy (DIY kit version) to use as a plattform for some spare parts I have laying around, looks good. If it can withstand a day at the skate park with you my brother, and come home with no damage, I'm buying it! Please provide a link to the "back in the shop" video for this vehicle, THANKS!!!

Awesome video of the car thanks for the links. Do more of this and if possible could you please consider buying a jlb cheater or any other RC car without electronics and then do a build video of you putting your own electronics like ESC and a motor.

Damn! ZD Racing is killing it! I just discovered their shocks and put them on my Arrma Typhon 3s and they are SICK. Love them. My next rig was going to be an Arrma but now.....sheesh! What to do what to do??

Have you considered the straps for the rear suspension? Alot of users on the forums say they really do prevent the rods being thrown out all the time.

I just got this rc Jan 2021, partially due to watching this review. I have spent entire day getting this thing into running condition. All drive shafts were a "press" fit into the drive cups at he dog bones! The wheel driveshafts were the worst. Taking the car apart I had to Use a screwdriver to pry the cups a bit to get them out. My shafts are plated in a bronze/orange colour. I was able to remove the coating by filing and simply rotating the dog bones in the cups. Some of the coating was cut and a very thin sleeve slid off the pins. The black transmission shaft pins were not pressed symmetrically, again i had to correct that. Next are the diffs, the front one was so tight on the pinion/ring gear, I could count each tooth as it fell into another with in a detent fashiona, rear was also too tight. The sides of the differential housings (output coupling holes side) are not parallel, they are caved in (manufacturing/material defect). Due to this there is physical interference between the inner wall of the housing and the differential plastic hub (opposite ring gear). I had to file down the cup a little, use three 13x16 mm shims to get some clearance here as well as get the pinnion/ring gear to mash well. All screws into aluminium were just drenched in thread locker, had to use heat. Same thread locker was apply onto my front plastic C mount by carelessness eating away at the plastic and causing lots of play at the pivot ball. The motor mount is separate from the centre diff carrier, makes for a messy gear lash adjustment, and keeping the gears parallel is a pain. You-tubers are snapping the wheels at the hub to spokes area, I filled these thin spots with baking soda and super glue. Looks like ESC is not programable??? Yes comes with Dumborc radio, which is great. Body came smashed as the receiver was sitting loose on top of the car, two days and no response from Banggood, they closed my order and now it looks like it is mission impossible to get into contact with them. I only got this car ($350 usd delivered, no batt) because I live in Indonesia and Arrma products are x2 or more western prices. Yes it has lots of good looking components, the above issues however makes it a project and deffenetlyf not RTR, yes it ran out of the box but after purchase I did more digging and found vids showing all these issues. So $35 bucks of shims, a new body and a day of work I have a what should have came in the box. I am done with Chinese shit (have 5 now), the quality is not there. With this one, going up in price and seeing nice looking components I gave them one more and last try.

Sounds like the gears are meshed really tight and just speculating here but this could have something to do with the tires coming to a dead stop when he lets off the throttle. I know you can set the motor to do braking but it seemed to make sense with the sound of the gears

Yo Kevin, I really like your cool video's, I watch Them alle the time! But if you say cheap(ish), I used to think they are under 100 bux, but sometimes they are more then 300 bux, I think that is not really cheap.
I am a 17 year old boy (almost 18) and I really like, from being child to now, the RC variants. I hope, when I am older, to do this hobby in my free time, same as you.

I actually just received this very car (Version 3 is it?), but i ordered it without the motor/etc, or the radio. I ordered everything individually, now i just need a few more parts then i can put it together.

Drag brake a bit on that buggy when it was in the trunk and you hit the gas It stopped instantly like to drag Break was up to high , ZD racing makes nice shit for the price ,that machined 6061 airplane grade aluminum look is everywhere and it’s real nice 👍 that little bugger is Paddles-worth worthy!🤔👍💯
