Hi. Thanks for the video. I live in London. I am 39 year old. Currently I am working in Restaurants as a chef. I need to work long hours for a decent wages! I would like to change my career to Accounting. I studied accounting in University level back home ages ago. I have decent knowledge in Accounting. Could you please advise me is it a good choice to Study AAT at this age? English is not my 1st language.
Work experience can be a tricky indicator because knowing how to do something at work (where you have access to specialised software, colegues, Google, and written down step by step procedures) doesn't mean you know WHAT you are doing and WHY or that you can properly name things or articulate what you are doing. It can feel like having a scientific recepie for a simple task of boiling an egg where every basic word was replaced by a 'word of the day' from thesaurus 😅 I would suggest looking at free material available online, maybe doing a mock exam and then deciding if skipping ahead is really for you. The worst-case scenario is that you'll find Level 2 dead easy, pass every exam at 99% within 6 months, and end up lamenting lost money (unless your employer is funding your studies).
...and that's one of the major problems isn't it, modern day accounts systems replace so many of the basics that you learn in level 2 that you can have worked in accounts for 10 years without knowing what's going on in the background. Doing a mock is also a good idea to gauge where your theoretical knowledge is at. That absolutely is the worst case scenario and one that doesn't happen very often! But what you'll have done regardless is confirmed and reinforced your foundations, got used to the AAT examination process and more than likely given yourself a confidence boost. None of which is a bad thing to have done.
Good informative video, what I am interested (maybe more people are) is I'm doing acconting course L3 but is not AATexam body, but I have been studying this course by watching your videos and helped me a lot. I really would like to know if is any difference between this exam boards? Topics are the same, except Bisness Awarness we don't do it. And this course use Sage to support us on practice what we are learning. Will it be easy to go for AAT L4 after this and if college's will accept and ask only for AAT qualifications. Thanks😊

Absolutely yes, it’s completely possible to change career and move into accounting at that age!
