One of most iconic Sega Arcade games the good old The House Of The Dead along with Virtua Cop which came out 2 years before The House Of The Dead. A timeless classic and perferct for Halloween XD
I still have a couple of them. the problem is the space, setting them up, etc. Dont get me wrong, the image from a CRT is absolutely amazing however for recording, the flashing or hum etc tends to bother people so yeah, I usually used the more inferior options. Original hardware though every time
Amazing game which I enjoyed a lot in the arcades when it finally got to the UK. I see the blood and effects can still be set to original red even after the changes Sega made to games after 1997.
I totally agree Ste! I can only imagine what the arcades must have been like in the UK. Im guessing similar to the US or Japan? or was it more popular? I love the original colors and blood enabled. I always thought the Green color just didnt do it. Anyway, always good to hear from you man and hope you are doing well
As written in the description, this video contains CRT monitor flashes, humming sounds, camera flair etc. If you are someone who is negatively affected by these things, please do not watch the video. Thank you in advance.
I watched Operation Thunderbolt and remembered I hadn't watched this. My friend and I played this to completion, but was probably the sequel, at Arcade Club in the UK. It made me realise the cheap tactics these games used to munch coins. I think 90% of the coins were used on the final boss. One hit deaths with no way of dodging. Thankfully arcade club us free play. 😁 To help with strobing, try filming light gun games at 30fps. It may cause ghosting but will even out the flashes to something less harsh.
Very nice. I still havent played the most recent arcade one but as for the others, including the very funky one Aisareruyori Ai shitai (House of the dead EX), I own them all. I have the switch physical on preorder.
Classic Arcade Luke 🤠 Great to see you enjoying playing some arcades 👍 Saturn ver. is quite good, but og arcade is awesome, not sure about the new remake on Switch tho. looks a little dodgy lol ✌️
So many different arcade setups and they each need a unique wiring setup. Glad to have this one wired and working. as for the Switch one, Ive seen a couple of videos and it looks promising however some people say that it would be nice to have actual gun controllers.
Hi Luke, Loved watching The House Of The Dead brilliant game and have you seen the remake on the Nintendo Switch? Another question do you know how many gun shooting games taito made?
Hi David. I have seen the switch remake and preordered a physical copy. As far as the actual total number of Taito shooting games, Im unsure but they had a lot.
Now..sadly these shoots seems dead. It's sad..with all these big hd screens, that should be much better. A Evil dead..Pet sematary..Terminator.. On ps3 I just remember a Terminator shooting game..on ps4..I dont know. On my arcade cabinet (a blast city) I will check to play with 2 guns connected on jammasd or usb directly just to be able to play again T2..mac dog..house of the dead..(if you know the best way to do,what s the best gun model to play with retroarch/mame/hyperspin..thanks).
I understand what you mean Sam. I dont know what the best setup would be but the Aimtrak seems to be a good option. Hopefully you can enjoy some of these shooting games at home!
I never get tired of playing this. Great to play a quick game of for high score runs if you get good enough at it. What monitor is that you used to play? Is it arcade? I have a HotD ROM Board for my Model 2C but my Eizo Nanao 8060S CRT is really fussy with Model 2 stuff (my Sega Rally exhibits the same behavior as does on Model 2A), however on Model 3s they display fine. I am also aware of the gun I/O that is needed for the game to even boot via the RS422 connector, else you'll get a "quilt" color static screen.
Generic looking remake goes to show it's hard to improve on the grungey textures and all round excellent art direction of the original. It still looks good as is.
No worries Matt. I understand and that is why I put it in the description as well when I put out the vid. Some of the downsides of recording from a crt monitor.

Two absolute classics for sure! Would be nice to do for Halloween, I totally agree!
A true Sega classic
Totally agree man. Trying to bring out some of the classics here.
This was and still is such an atmospheric game! Love it!
There is something unique about it for sure. Much better playing in person than this video but a great game nevertheless. Thanks for watching!
Been waiting for this from u Luke finally. Nice vid!
Thanks James. Glad you enjoyed it!
Man this takes me back to some good times for sure
Just a bit of nostalgia for everyone. Thanks Jake
Such a great game. Played a lot of this arcade cabinet back in the day. This and carnevil.
Two of my absolute favorites. Carnevil was on my wishlist from the first time I saw it.
The House of the Dead 1 i played on PC version when i was a kid.
Oh wow! now that is some pretty awesome stuff right there
I am relieved to see you still own a CRT. I wouldn't even get out of bed if it wasn't for 15khz scanlines.

Only played the Saturn version. Hope the Switch remake is only a timed exclusive. Would want it to release on ps4/ps5 and Xbox too.
I hope so to. I could see sony developing a version though to go along with the move controllers though.
The remake is on PC/PS4/PS5/Xbox One/Xbox Series X now
This game gave me nightmares as a kid. I still love it tho. Plus, they're remaking this on Switch.
Same, there was an arcade with this and Carnevil when I was a kid. Both gave me nightmares for a good while haha
Haha, I know what you mean. I decided to post this now as a bit of an ode to the upcoming Switch version
Have loved your videos for years luke, good vibes and greetings from afar.
Thank you very much. I appreciate the support and I hope those same good vibes reach you as well!
I don't know what line hits harder in arcade gaming, X-Men's "Welcome to Die" or HotD's "You shall all die!"
HAHAHA! I think those are both at a draw for one liners lol. Classic

Cool game - always love The House of the Dead series =D My fav is overkill on the Wii!
Totally agree man. The series is great and the Wii version is quite awesome.
Sweet. Just in time for the remake coming out next week!
It's out now
Exactly! that was one of the reasons for making this vid here :)
I really like this game, Sega at their best!
I couldnt agree more! I really love this game as well and I think that Sega did an amazing job!

Just in time for the The House of the Dead: Remake for the Switch ;)
Yep. Good timing indeed
That was my main reason for putting this one up :) Just wanted to show that some people the original version before the remake
Great series..I played them all on different systems..House of the dead 2 is the best! there's a new remake for Switch now.
Very nice. I still havent played the most recent arcade one but as for the others, including the very funky one Aisareruyori Ai shitai (House of the dead EX), I own them all. I have the switch physical on preorder.
Another great video Luke!
Thanks a million Tighe! always great to hear from you man and hope everything is going well with you.

@@lukemorse1Agreed, I'd say the same regards light gun option on HoTD remake, just wouldn't feel right cursor only.
Have a great week man✌️

Totally agree!
Blue Light Filter Supress everything its a no problem for me

@@lukemorse1 Hi Luke,
Thank you for getting back on the Taito games and the remake of The House of the Dead for the switch.
I enjoyed this!
Thank you very much. I apologize for the flashing and focus flair but I am glad that it was entertaining

You should turn on the "Anti-Aliasing" of your Camera, so the image aren't Flashing and uhh showing Glitchy Black image
🎃🎃🎃 Happy Halloween 🎃🎃🎃
Cool play
Thanks Tony my friend!
@@lukemorse1 yw
I wasted..I mean invested a lot of money into this gem ;)
LOL! I understand where you are coming from 100%. It is really nice having the arcade version at home with unlimited credits.
This video made me buy a couple of wii light gun shooters whahaha
Haha! Sorry about that. Or...You're welcome lol.
Sweeet!!!!
Thanks Dr.Ryan!
This game rocks
Generic looking remake goes to show it's hard to improve on the grungey textures and all round excellent art direction of the original. It still looks good as is.
I think Sega had some great ideas back in the day and they were on the polygon wagon with sony etc. Classic game for sure though.
“RE-RE-RE-RELOAD”
Shoot outside of the screen
Multiple times for sure
Sorry man but I can't watch this. It hurts my eyes.
