I’ve tried all of Gunnar’s methods of using the string fuzz for the head (loop, drape over and pack back, and the brush). While all the methods produce acceptable results the brush is far superior. The squimish and the fuzz stays more spread out and doesn’t clump together, and they stay in place better when brushed out. And the brush also creates more volume than the other methods.
Hi Gunnar, great video as ever and excellent idea of a fly on one brush. Impatiently waiting for more dubbing wire to arrive I decided to try using some old 20lb braid. Works a treat. Takes wax, spins well, is more supple than wire and as is far easier to tie with. I no longer bother with wire
I am happy with your videos and started really follow all your techniques. My only gripe is i bought the HMH TRV and i am not happy at all with it. the groves seem really small compared to your video that you showed on the product. I am not sure what to do but send it back.
After all this time, I still have difficulty deciding how much material to place along length of brush table for the body of the fly versus the head and collar. I usually make brushes for the bigger musky flies, so that likely increases the challenge.
Hey Gunnar i just watched the infinit fly principle. I wondered if i could do that with a leftys deceiver. Would it make sense to put a jerk head in front of it or to tie it arcticulated or even with a magic head in front of it? I just want to start fly tying and don't want to spent lots of money on the materials for different fly patterns. Thanks for your videos!
Im a newbie to fly tying. How do you know if your fly will run hook up or hook down? I plan on utilizing dumbbell eyes for a bucktail fly on a variety of different hook styles.
Amazing!!! I was trying to figure this out and you turned on the lightbulb for me!!! Now I get it!! Thank you !!!

I've used braid attached to the hook for a strong dubbing loop.
But will braid stay twisted like wire if it's loose on both ends?
@@michaelburk9171 It seems to. I add a dab of superglue or UV resin at each end of the brush as a precaution to stop any untwisting
@@gegarne thanks. I'll give it a try.
I don't tie these type of flies but I Iove the videos , It's intriguing.

If it was done in a loop would it be around 5 to 6 inches for a 1/0
Sickinile sweet I like
Who makes the dubbing table you are using?
What kind of brush do you use after spinning it up?
Duuude yes!
How do you know how long to make this brush??
is fuzzy fiber basically like ep fiber?
No, it’s crinkly
