Mick’s ride is “Precious”, a 2011 Camaro SS with a 7 liter LS Next V8. It’s got a 3-stage dry sump system that also lubes the twin, 60mm ball-bearing turbos. Jerry brought his cleeeean Civic EG hatchback powered by a turbocharged LS VTEC i4 from an Acura mated to a 5-speed manual trans from a CRV. They both got some sweet beadlock wheels, but who’s gonna put the power down on the tarmac?

1 exception. This 50 year old dude I know who has a bone stock EG with like 400,000 miles on it. He's never had to open up the engine or transmission.
@nasonguy that old man's civic is scariest of them all. How the hell did he make the seals so bullet proof. I was blowing valve seals almost every month until I did a oil catch can and breaking horizontal differential bearings a couple times now. Lol

Power to Weight ratio and that AWD hooking up the tarmac was the key.
If that Civic is a “sleeper” then every model in the Victoria Secret catalog wakes up looking they do in the catalog.
I don't know what I was expecting but that civic launched so hard. So hard.
It's all about how much power you can put down into the tarmac compared to the weight. Once you break traction you can have infinite HP and it doesn't help you get down the track any faster.

As a 2018 ZL1 owner I gotta respect that EG. I was big into Honda's back in the 90's and the EG hatch is one of my favorites.
Just became a Camaro fan bought an SS love the power they have with zero tune and the popping is amazing very muscle car looking white with the black stripes

There’s no way that that thing has over 1500 hp. Cleetus dynod mullet at 2000 hp and he runs 6’s in the quarter at 200 mph. That Camaro should be doing faster in the half mile

I’m guess it’s 3,000 on kill and with an optimistic dyno. I’d guess it’s more like 2,000. With the unprepped runway he would have been better off at about 1500 or less.
Especially if it only has 66mm turbos. They’d be pretty hard pressed to make 3,000.

That’s power to weight for you. 900 all wheel horsepower and only 2200 lbs. Its literally close to if not the same power to weight as a Koenigsegg One:1. One horsepower for every kilogram/2.2 lbs.

Power to weight is the difference. It would be very hard, but with the right P - W ratio you could beat an ACR Viper with a four banger.
Never made me eat crow! There were lots that got turbos that thought they could! But I had a car that would hang the tires on the street in 2003!

Yeah he's definitely not making 3000 hp. His claimed 1/2 mile trap speed of 205 is way too slow. World record 1/2 mile speed was set by a 2200hp Hurican that trapped at 259.

I miss my b16A swapped CR-X. The concept of lots of power with good grip and little weight is the key. Balance those out and you have a winner every time.

Would love to see how it does against Boba Motoring Mk2 Golf 4Motion, which should be capable of similar WHP and has only slightly larger displacement (2 liters)
But it's ugly as hell and embarrassing to be seen in.
I would never bet against an AWD boosted civic hatch and this show clarified why.
Gears and transmission is the key to helping win races. A engine that's super charge.
I loved this man, civic showed em what a little "lawnmower" can do. Both guys were super cool too
