TIP 1: 2:11 Pronounce your Ts TIP 2: 4:05 Imagine the sounds coming forward TIP 3: 7:12 Visualise your mouth north/south Hope you enjoyed this video taken from yesterday's live stream. Pls click like if you did! 😄
Is the tip to pronounce one's Ts really useful for foreigners? Because they wouldn' even think of omitting it. And when it comes to the British, even some TV presenters nowadays seem to have cockney (estuary accent?) elements in their speech... I mean, isn't RP disappearing ? What I really want to know is why so many British people say such words as 'no, 'video', 'so' like 'noy', 'videoy', 'soy'. And Rebecca too.
I'm from Vietnam. I learned English pronunciation from a very antique textbook published by Oxford University around 40 years ago (the cover is terribly damaged). Therefore, after watching lots of English accent teaching videos on TH-cam, I recognise myself I'm speaking English in such an RP way that some British friends (from London and other northern places) was surprised when we first talked. My Vietnamese friends claimed that my voice is similar to voices in Streamline textbooks, which means very formal and unlike the present dynamic multicultural London English. It's really interesting when your accent stands out in a crowd. Yeah. /t/ is always on but sometimes I pronounce 'It' without /t/. Plus, Game of Thrones has strengthened my RP accent :D
As an American , who works in a Jamaican/British establishment, I have been trying to pinpoint the difference in our accents, out of fascination. These videos, have really helped me to define, our differences! Learning accents, furthers my ability to be present while speaking, and heightens the awareness in my every day environment. Thanks for sharing these excellent tips! Cheers!
I became depressed about my ability to speak using RP after my phonetics course in university . You and she explained it wonderfully . Thanks . You have no idea how much you contribute especially to someone who has the language but struggles with the pronunciation .
@@-Zperco well you'll have to learn English with some accent if your teacher speaks with the R.P accent then most probably you'll speak with a bit of a R.P accent too.
If word ends with T and connects to the other word begins with vowel. For example. " Yes it is. " how would you pronounce it in RP way? 1. Yes - sit - tis 2. Ye - si - tis 3. Yes - it - is
Thank youuuuuuu to both of you. Fantastic video from a very creative, wonderful, intelligent family. So, basically we have to speak forwardly in the mask and circle our mouths then travel from the south to the north to produce the range of the voice, have I understood it correctly? Would not my speech sounds nasıl? I am from Kurdistan but do I speak Arabic fluently. شكرا لمقاطع الفيديو التعليمية
Really like the way you both speak British. Please make more Posh British video guys. I'm In procces of learning Posh British these days. Greeting from Java, Indonesia.
Americans forget the t's in some cases like in word ofTen we'd say "ofen" but we pronounce it in other words like butter for sure. I feel like Brits are more guilty of dropping the R.
Actually the word *often* is correctly pronounced without the "T" and it is only recently (last 20 years) that the Oxford and Cambridge dictionaries are accepting it the "T" sound added. At some point probably some foreigner thought every letter had to be pronounced. Maybe it was even a zeal for pronouncing Ts that caused the sound to come into the word, when it should not have. But language is always changing and I remember when some non-words began to show up in dictionaries, 45 - 50 ago. Didn't like them..Still don't.
I want to improve my English speaking with posh upper British received pronunciation. Please give me some tips like movies, documentaries etc. Or if I come to London, is there have less price classes...? I am from Sri Lanka.
Thank you, where can I order the book? please and can I talk with you in person? to discuss Educating myself on British accent and speaking good British English.
Lol, I laughed at the "Californian". Definitely a caricature of the Valley girl/surfer dude. We in California have a range of accents....not all of us speak that way ;)
That’s right do you believe that some English teachers have really bad pronunciation and it’s important that if you learn a language the way to saying it . You have to know not just to read the language also understand it .your video is really good and thank you today I learn from you guys.👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Awesome video. Shortly before viewing this I unsubscribed because I didn’t see many English videos. I resubscribed. You’re a good instructor, and I am enjoying watching. #MakeEnglishGreatAgain 🇺🇸
A MA that's your opinion. I think it's really good and well put and highlights the struggles of Muslims, it's politics of real people with real suffering. You don't have to be rude and I want him to react to it, good or bad I just want his thoughts because unlike you I'm acceptant of other people's views and I like having conversations with different perspectives. You ought to learn to do that it ill od you good.Have a good day :)

If word ends with T and connects to the other word begins with vowel. For example.
" Yes it is. " how would you pronounce it in RP way?
1. Yes - sit - tis
2. Ye - si - tis
3. Yes - it - is
2nd is how i do it and i am rp

Americans forget the t's in some cases like in word ofTen we'd say "ofen" but we pronounce it in other words like butter for sure. I feel like Brits are more guilty of dropping the R.
The dropping of R makes English more elegant, sweet and classy!!
