Understandable to a point, but one of the reasons a person buys a house such as this is privacy and distance from possible neighbors. I have seen this house, I live (part time) not far away in Balboa Island, and the attention to detail in the construction and the fittings is remarkable.
Yeah I like the mansions in Bradbury surrounded by acres of pristine land in a gated community. So protestors and pickiters can't get anywhere near your home.

i suppose it depends on what kind of skills you can have and where you can work. The entirety of california from all the way down in San Diego to up before Oregon is filled with great places to live. Personally I would say Palo Alto or Silicon Valley, the Redwood Empire and Lost Coast regions of Northern CA, or the areas of the Sierra Nevada Mountains where so many of the country's most famous parks are located. If you have the money, even LA, Orange, or SF county can be a dreamland.
