    It is amazing how such a simple but elegant pinning can be such a challenge. Well done, Reece!

      Completely ignores randomness and variety, optimized for worst-worst case combination.
      The only problem, in real life, would be that everybody with the same lock would have the same key.

    Wow! Bill, thank you VERY MUCH for the _normal_ intro sound level ;)
    Please keep up the good work in educating us!

    Hello Bill. Thank you for making videos. I found your channel by accident and was really fascinated by watching you pick. I am Autistic and find it hard to concerntrate but I found watching your videos while I try to pick locks is very relaxing for me. Thank you again.

      If you want to get into lock picking I suggest looking at video 749 and grabbing that learning station. It'll accelerate your learning. You won't have to build a lockpick kit as that set up comes with its own picks.

    • @cakershake
      @cakershake 7 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      Oh, thank you very much Phy. In the process of watching all his videos but will look at video 749. Even the people who watch Bill's videos are nice. alot of comments sections are really nasty and weird but Bill and his fans seem genuine and nice. Thanks guys!

      Sorry (in advance) if you read any of my comments that are rude. I typically try to help and be nice, but there are those special times... (I am only rude to people who annoy me, but if you come across one of my comments and it bothers you, link me to the video and I will edit or remove it, in order to help preserve a better channel for everyone).

    • @cakershake
      @cakershake 7 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      SEE! I have never heard anyone say that before! That they will remove their negative comments to keep a positive channel vibe going. very respectable. We all have our moments but it's great you see that and wanna fix it. You guys are cool and didn't make fun of my Austism like other channels' comment section did. Stay safe and stay awsome!

      I'm glad you found Bill's channel. I stumbled upon it myself and found myself sucked into the world of lock picking. You're also right about the comment sections, definitely a bright spot in the youtube community.

    Bill, I am one of those folks that LOVES to see the gutting of locks. I don't enjoy seeing you be whipped, but it's nice to see you humble when the situation warrants. Love the videos! Merry Christmas!

    It is amazing how taking some time, and pinning, can make a lock so extremely difficult to get into! VERY nice lock! As always, thanks for the video Bill!

    Well done again Bill.
    I noticed that you pulled out the old pinning tray. Also you're no longer using the lock tube logo. Perhaps avoiding possible copy right infringement.
    Anyway, great work!

  • @Alan_Hans__

    Awesome work as usual Bill. Entertaining even when you are whipped. As I assume that you record the attempts that whip you I was wondering how it would look if you showed a bit of picture in picture timelapse while you're showing how whipped you are. A bit of timecode on it would show how much effort you put into not being beaten.

    Since picking requires being able to manipulate tension and pins at the same time, I'm surprised that there aren't more designs that prevent either one from happening concurrently with the other. I can imagine at least one relatively simple way of achieving that, wish I had access to machining equipment to try it out, see if I can turn that into a practical lock.
    Imagine trying to pick a lock where the keyway pins have no direct mechanical connection with the shear line - at least not while the key pins are still movable. Think mechanical memory. I've come up with four different schemes that might work.

    In a older video you used castration rings to bump, I used those to but I split them. what's the black flat washer thing you use to prevent that ring from splitting? The F.M. George Safe and lock company.

    • @BitchyBoxxy
      @BitchyBoxxy 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Just get smallest thick o rings. That's all castration rings are just expensive renamed o rings.

    • @bosnianbill
      @bosnianbill  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      From the plumbing department at home depot. It just keeps the key from cutting the ring.

    • @paulsolfelt8452
      @paulsolfelt8452 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      jhadlock2010 hint, those rings are only needed on poorly cut junk keys, do you think they sell those bum keys to open locks or to make money? A key I make will work first or second bump constantly, it's called a shear point key!

      It really shows that it is a combination of multiple choice deveations. that make them harder. not just to thread everything and cut every pin.
      The binding order and pin placement is a guge factor too.
      But it is nice to see that Bill is not a picking Atomiton.

    • @macbeth2354
      @macbeth2354 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think a clean job with the threading and unmodified pins also implies tighter tolerances. From what I've seen all the locks with home made pins tend to be quite loose and you can wiggle stuff around inside of them. Ofc I can be talking pure trash right now..

    Hello

  • @htomerif
    @htomerif 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    As far as real world use locks go, can you thread the bible or chamber and not have it just chowder and fail after a while of constant use?

    • @davidworsley7969
      @davidworsley7969 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sharp steel edges rubbing against brass-it must have an effect,but it won't change the shear line,I think it would eventually make it easier to pick,but I suppose the only way to find out would be to smooth out all the bores and try it.

  • @thebravesimo
    @thebravesimo 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    threaded?

    • @Steel-Pinnings
      @Steel-Pinnings 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Simox T. The chambers have been taped or threaded leaving the edges to hang up in the threades.

    • @macbeth2354
      @macbeth2354 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well it's easier to use a small diameter tap (after this you can put a screw in there quite nicely) than doing multiple serrations (circles). You can use a tap by hand, serrations would imply machinery or very delicate work with a jewellers tool of a very small size. So yes, threaded, it's a helix.
      Easy way to imagine this at work is by taking a screw and a larger diameter nut, put the screw inside, touch the side of the nut and try to push or pull the screw. The threads engage and don't let go.
