They are not "sectarian issues", they are constitutional differences which happen to be largely between Irish Nationalists and British Unionists. Both sides of this "divide" are of Catholic and Protestant backgrounds which go back centuries. The founders of Irish Republicanism were largely of Scottish Presbyterian heritage. Living in Northern Ireland and growing up here, I don't need Peter Hitchens to lecture to me or anyone about tensions and crime. We are known as a very welcoming people who go to work and get on. For the most part, people keep their political affiliations to themselves. Let's talk about Birmingham and London regarding crime in the UK.
