It's definitely not a SDV knockoff, it reminds me so much of early harvest moon and even a little of old LOZ games! FOM is definitely a love letter to the farming sim genre
I would love a “first year in Mistria!” That sounds like so much fun-especially because I’m thinking about getting it too now that my fav Stardew creator has vetted it ;)
Please remember to talk to Caldarus. He is lovely to talk to! Not to mention, you can get many benefits and perks to spend your essence (the purple thing underneath your tessere count) on to improve your skills in all aspects of the game. Even the dragon statue in the mines does the same for mine-related stuff.
Big tip for the rain stuff is to go into the accessibility menu and set weather paricle effects to low/none. I had to do that cause on my laptop the rain's normal animation was actually making my game lag 😭
Also another pro tip: Fishing normally takes a decent chunk out of your energy per fish. BUT the game won't stop you from casting your rod as long as you have any amount of energy. Now we can then consider the abundance of those berries in year one that only give +1 energy. What I did in my early game was go about my other tasks and let my energy drop to 0(note that the passing out and waking up late without fully restored energy is ONLY if you dont make it to your bed before 2am or reach 0 hp in the mines). Then, I'd take my berries and go fishing. Eat a berry, catch a fish, and then eat another berry and catch another fish. Rinse and repeat. This helped me out a lot early on and even still does as I rely on fishing less for money but still need to finish out my museum, but also don't want to use up all that energy that could be used on gathering materials. It's definitely amazing for early game though, you get to catch way more fish in a day than normal and it helps out quite a bit with getting money.
Yay! Thank you!! It was honestly so much fun making all of your unique personas in the Mistria art style. Thanks again for your participation in the video!😊
I think my thing is I'm getting a little burnt out on the "Sleepy town is just sitting around waiting for you to save it" trope. I'd love to see some more games with unique stories, like maybe you try to open a store in a bustling city, or a sci-fi themed game where you start a colony on another planet with NPCs. I'm also pretty burned out on the romance mechanics in many of these games: Give Gifts>Get Hearts>Watch Cut Scenes>Repeat. My Time At Portia had a neat mechanic where you went on dates, and how you handled the dates affected the relationship. Then you had a rivals mechanic in one of the harvest moon games, where if you didn't confess to someone by a certain amount of time they'd get with someone else. Story of Seasons had a "reverse confession" mechanic where a character might ask you out first, and they also might propose to you. I'd love to see more unique mechanics to NPC interaction/romance in these sorts of games.
I can't help but notice Caldarus having a heart icon instead of circle, I love the dog has their own avatar sprite This game looks fun can't wait for it to be released Thank you for showing the game, I prefer this showing us the experience
I’m thinking since the priestess in the mines said “I am dragon” or whatever, they may be the same being & it’s truly her you’re romancing? Just a guess but I think that would be interesting!
This game definitely has potential. But I will wait for it go out of early access before touching it, as I feel there are still a lot missing aspects on the game. Also hoping modding will be a thing for it as well
One piece of advice i can give, your friend was right about the exploitability of buying flour for bread, with just 2 cheap cooking skill perks it starts taking no time and turning a small profit with a low chance of refunded ingredients, then it became my nightly routine to blow everything on flour before bed to ship bread, and by summer 15th year 1 i had already maxed the town rank early access cap at 50 (of what seems to be intended to reach 100 or 120? Based on the stylization) and over 50k gold to throw around like nobodies business
I love Fields of Mistria and I'm so glad you played it and made this extremely well done first impression video! If you play more, I would love to watch a video about it! My advice about FoM to everyone is to take it at a more relaxed pace than stardew. Time is faster but you walk faster but the map is larger to travel across - hence the days feel shorter. In some ways, it reminds me of older animal crossing games where you're discouraged from running and rushing around because it fades your grass. The game encourages you to slow down. You won't be able to do everything in one day in FoM so it feels best to relax and pick one or two things to focus on... also you can get perks to craft armor which increases your speed and also drinking coffee increases your speed too. What can I say, I want to relax but part of me also really wants to minmax!
I love this advice. Fields of Mistria definitely seems to lend itself to a more cozy feeling, so taking your time definitely feels like the way to go.😊
@JunimoB aaah thank you for your reply! ❤️ yeah I got stressed about running out of time each day when I was first playing so i had to remind myself to take it easy
I think it’s natural to make comparisons, especially since Stardew Valley has made such an impact on the genre and has been, admittedly, an inspiration for many game devs in the space. But I do think that people who see games and automatically feel like they’re less than or knockoff’s of Stardew Valley are doing a disservice to themselves and others. Fields of Mistria in particular has been a game that I’ve seen so many people immediately put down and assume is nothing more than a knockoff of Stardew Valley, and I’m happy to say that it’s just not the case.😊
I still can't believe that we can date the dragon (maybe not updated in the game yet, but based on the heart symbol, I guess the dragon is dateable) but not Olric
I would love to see you share more of this game. I was on the fence about it (do I really need another farm sim rpg?) but now I definitely want to get into that world.
its definitely not a stardew knockoff and it makes me so mad when ppl say that!!! (aside from junimo b). people are sadly so quick to judge and write somethign off without trying it first. i think fields of mistria is pretty loyal towards harvest moon and maybe even rune factory more than stardew valley. both games have its own charms and frankly, i'm happy to see FoM develop the way that it is! i haven't played it but the art and the vibes are right up my alley
I’m not sure why people think this is sponsored, it personally gave me the impression that there are no big differences between the games! The magic system seems like a major point of difference, but having it in a list of small differences makes it sound like an underwhelming core mechanic. I will have to watch your full video later and check out the more thorough comparison!
I didn't watch your video yet but I love Fields Of Mistria, I play Stardew too. I have been able to relax and escape from real life with this game, it feels more relaxing to play than Stardew. Characters are very cute and playing is easy. 🥰 I've tried to not get any spoilers and tips for the game, it's been easy to figure out myself. I have seen negative thumbnails and titles about this game, haven't watched those videos either. I have nothing to complain about the game.
Is it just me or do people started to post this game a few days after I saved it on my cart but i downloaded few days ago and I can till you thanks for the tips I needed it and I disagree the over sized shirt is like my XL butterfly shirt and I love it! -and I love your channel it helped me a lot with Stardew valley and yes they all work like it but in it cute way
How did you customise the characters?! I wanna make my own of character picture!! I love FoM :3 but I'm also a newish sdv player, but life long harvest moon gal
Fantastic video. Thank you! I like FOM, but can't play without getting angry about how fast the days pass. I'd rather wait until the devs give us the option to lengthen the day.
I was thinking about trying something new but I dunno, Sun Haven seems to differ a bit more from SDV so I am leaning more towards it... It's more fantasy style also helps to make it stand out a bit more. Not that Mistria looks bad or boring (even though the walking animation looks a bit odd and probably can use a bit of updating but Stardew looked a bit odd when it came out too and have been improved since).
I understand I am probably in the minority here but I do have to say after giving this game a go the other day I think it is so strikingly similar to SD in more ways than just being of the same genre; to the point where I very quickly got bored as it felt like I had already played it before.
It looks like a farming game. Stardew "looks like a Harvest Moon ripoff" if you want to be pedantic. The portrait style is very different, and the sprites are not cloned.
It's definitely not a SDV knockoff, it reminds me so much of early harvest moon and even a little of old LOZ games! FOM is definitely a love letter to the farming sim genre
I definitely agree! So many aspects make it unique & I’ve loved playing it so far.💜
Interesting that the stone dragon is a romance-able character. At least, it has a heart by the name
I would love a “first year in Mistria!” That sounds like so much fun-especially because I’m thinking about getting it too now that my fav Stardew creator has vetted it ;)
Yay! Honestly this comment may be all the motivation I need😅
Seconding the request! Early access reportedly only has a first year worth of material so far, so just enough content for this
Please remember to talk to Caldarus. He is lovely to talk to! Okay THANK YOU. It was messing with my eyes so much I’m definitely gonna go in and change that!
Oh my goodness, all the creators as Mistria characters is amazing.
A perfect touch
OH MY GOSH!????? US AS CHARACTERSJLSGWOOQJJFJRM YOU DID SUCH A GOOD JOB JUNIMO WOWOOWAH
Yay! Thank you!! It was honestly so much fun making all of your unique personas in the Mistria art style. Thanks again for your participation in the video!😊
I love how you can pick your birthday. Nice video!

The editing of this video is so good! I love all the extra pixel art you've made to explain your points in this video
Thank you so much!😊
I LOVE THE WAY YOU SETUP THE CHARACTER ART AND TEXT!!❤
THANK YOU💜💜

So it's a game with fire emblem designed characters pokemon designed world and stardew plot. Honestly im interested.
This was such a well done video! 🥰 I also love seeing some of my faves giving their best tips.
I wish people would stop comparing everything to stardew valley, even that was influenced. Everything is inspired by something.
I think it’s natural to make comparisons, especially since Stardew Valley has made such an impact on the genre and has been, admittedly, an inspiration for many game devs in the space. Junimo B makes great content, and makes it very entertaining. 😮🎉
I still can't believe that we can date the dragon (maybe not updated in the game yet, but based on the heart symbol, I guess the dragon is dateable) but not Olric
Omg who designed the character drawings of the different creators? They’re so cool
wow a whole half hour? lucky me! Love yer stuff B ♥
💜💜💜
I would love to see a first year! :)
I really like the 90's anime style of the characters.
Well since Stardew was a Harvest Moon/Story of Seasons knockoff, this would be too.
I am so excited to continue my playthrough of this game! It's definitely a nod to classic farming sims, while maintaining it's own charm.
13:05 THANK YOU!!! I AM SO GLAD I AM NOT THE ONLY PERSON WHO ALWAYS THINKS OF THE HUNGER GAMES EVERY TIME THAT THEY MENTION THE CAPITAL!!!!
I would love to see you play more of this game! Great video 😊
This was a really great video! I loved the art! ❤
Thank you!!💜
I would absolutely love a year in mistria video ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
Great video I’ve been thinking of getting this game
💜Thank you for making this video! 💜
Thank you for watching!💜
I would love to see you share more of this game. I was on the fence about it (do I really need another farm sim rpg?) but now I definitely want to get into that world.
the birthdays are nice to have, but oof to my fellow 29th-31st birthdays out there
You're all 28th babies now
Looks like this one SNES game called Harvest Moon
Nt every pixelated farming sim is a "Stardew Valley knockoff". You guys being saying tht about every pixelated farming sim 😒
It looks like fun. It also looks suspiciously similar to Stardew Valley.
I know I'm late for this but you can change the intensity of the weather (storm/blizzard) in the display settings.
Glad to see you playing this game! It's a hoot! Not sure if you knew but interacting with the cauldron in the inn gives you 20 stamina per day.
Ooo I wasn’t aware! Thank you!
I love all the creator portraits! So cute
I just love stardew valley!
YAY i’m so early! i’m so excited about this game and i hope it comes to macbooks
Stardew Valley is a Havest Moon knock off(I love SDV❤)
You should try coral island!
I've been In pelican town for years now should I pack and move to mistria?
I can't your new pfp is so cuteeeee:3
its definitely not a stardew knockoff and it makes me so mad when ppl say that!!! Ahh, March is a blacksmith with some “Hailey Attitude”? … yea that tracks haha
... the dragon has a heart never to him. you can romance the dragon???
Hey B, love your videos and soothing voice 😊 do you stream these games anywhere?
Thank you! I don’t stream, but I think it’d be fun to do someday! (Currently my setup/wifi situation doesn’t really allow for that)
Junimo B, wanna collab keep up the amazing content
But Stardew Valley is Harvestmoon knokoff 😅
I am really excited for this the full release is im 2025 I watched Lummi and other poeple play it and I hope it comes out on switch
Can you do a one year in mistria or 100 days plz B I ❤️ U
How don’t you get bored of playing Stardew valley
This game looks super fun! I'd like to see someone play this and try dating Adeline as they sound cool or Celine!! They seem sweet
26:16 the heavy rain definitely makes me dizzy 😅
RIGHT?! I’m so glad somebody agrees lol
@@JunimoB the snow in stardew does it to me too🥲
I’m on year 4. I’m trying to collect t the legendary bugs
We can date the Dragon?????
Is it open ended? So when you do all the things you can just vibe?
I am loving this game so far, but it's a Stardew Valley clone. Just facts.
Is it just me or do people started to post this game a few days after I saved it on my cart but i downloaded few days ago and I can till you thanks for the tips I needed it and I disagree the over sized shirt is like my XL butterfly shirt and I love it!
-and I love your channel it helped me a lot with Stardew valley and yes they all work like it but in it cute way
I know these titles are just for engagement since you mostly do stardew content, but it still drives me nuts
i love the art style ❤ i dont care if its a ripoff
To me March reminds me of Shane
How did you customise the characters?! I wanna make my own of character picture!!
I love FoM :3 but I'm also a newish sdv player, but life long harvest moon gal
Thankyouu so much
To be fair, Stardew was a Harvest Moon "knock off." Personally, I like to use the words "inspired by."
5:32 - oh God
Fr, clown world
Oh nooo pronouns how scaaryy :3
@dogenjoyer2480 yeah, the degradation of sanity in society is pretty aweful. Merry Christmas!
I don't think it's a knockoff, but definitely influenced by it, among other games. Sounds like a game I'd like, once it's complete.
It's not a knockoff. Star Dew Valley doesnt own the concept of cozy, rural life simulator.
Does it have guns?
I don’t know why i thought you had a twitch account 😇
I'm going to need them to release it for Mac or Switch rn :) :) :)
(I want to play SO bad).
omg there's a character called juniper :') that is so cute
JUNIMO B PLS RETURN TO STARDEW VALLEY 🥺
I'm seeing why Lummi likes March... He's giving off the same vibes as Hailey's horrible attitude at the start of her romance storyline.
This is you're game?!
Nah, both are quite different while FoM is still incomplete.
Ouuuu a junimo video
Hi!
See what you made me do I went and bought a new game lol!
Fantastic video. Thank you! I like FOM, but can't play without getting angry about how fast the days pass. I'd rather wait until the devs give us the option to lengthen the day.
Hi
I was thinking about trying something new but I dunno, Sun Haven seems to differ a bit more from SDV so I am leaning more towards it... It's more fantasy style also helps to make it stand out a bit more.
Not that Mistria looks bad or boring (even though the walking animation looks a bit odd and probably can use a bit of updating but Stardew looked a bit odd when it came out too and have been improved since).
Stardew the best game ever is now dying?
Lost me at “no pronouns, WHAT?!”
I understand I am probably in the minority here but I do have to say after giving this game a go the other day I think it is so strikingly similar to SD in more ways than just being of the same genre; to the point where I very quickly got bored as it felt like I had already played it before.
It has pronouns so i wont buy it
first
face reveal?
It looks like a complete ripoff. No ammount of sugarcoating will change that. Disappointing.
It looks like a farming game. Stardew "looks like a Harvest Moon ripoff" if you want to be pedantic. The portrait style is very different, and the sprites are not cloned.
