    I’m not sure of the ages of this couple. But I believe the young lady has a “classic rock” soul. Every classic rock reaction I watch of theirs she just grooves and gets lost in the song. Quite impressive.

    The storyteller is telling his tale and then moving on. He tried, but realized that he was not going to change her. in his heart he loved her, but in the end he knew it wouldn't last, because she was who she was, and she didn't want to change. Lesson learned. Another blues classic from LZ.

      It's kind of a theme with Robert. Fool In The Rain is the same. He's fallen in love with a woman that either plays around or is a working girl, and is in that painful realization that he's not going to get the commitment he wants. Which is funny cuz another theme is that he's gonna get restless and have to Ramble On himself

    You're describing a MANDOLIN, which is similar in shape to a tiny guitar and has a high tint-like sound.

    By far my favorite Zeppelin song. I had never even heard this song until sometime in the mid 80’s and it absolutely blew me away. One of their most unheralded songs. Thank you for introducing more folks to this absolute gem.

    The bass carries a lot of the song. The drumming is excellent The fast part at the end is just normal mandolin playing.

      @@johnr.8275 : Same thing in "Ramble On". The guitar chord changes are easy, but the bass is what carries the song with Bonzo's bodhran playing a steady tap, too.

    Many of LZs songs throughout their career were re-makes of old American Blues some dating back to the 1920s. This was one of them. And many with lyrics that are hyper-sexual or violent are taken from these early relics. That made more sense to me when I originally thought Robert Plant had a great sense of American levee and dam history. It's a real thing and many tragedies existed hence the blues song When The Levee Breaks. Thank you again Brad & Lex!

    Led Zeppelin was the true meaning of the term Rock Stars. They were inspired by Blues and Funky Jazz. The were so complex. You ever notice that no two Led Zeppelin songs never sound similar. Music geniuses.

    This song was not in an album when it came out, was just the “b-side” of a single. Usually b-sides are not very good and are just the flip side of the more popular single that’s being promoted.

    • @woodchuk1
      @woodchuk1 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      B-side of Immigrant Song, recorded in 1970 or 1971, correct?

    • @screwyootube1
      @screwyootube1 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      In the UK, they often didn't put either side of the 45 on the album. The reasoning was that they felt it wasn't fair to make someone buy the same song twice. OTOH, in America, they had no problem selling it twice, although some bands, like Zeppelin, did not sell singles near as much as albums. Zeppelin singles were mostly just a promotional tool to sell the album (not that they were necessary), as top 40 radio rarely played Led Zeppelin.
