The longa is an Ottoman musical form inspired by Balkan (maybe Rumanian) Roma (Gypsy) music. The longa, like other Ottoman musical forms (semai/sama'i, peşrev/bashraf, etc.) was adopted by the Arabs and intregrated into Arabic culture to the point that Arabs consider these forms part of their "turath" (heritage). The composer of this particular piece, Kemani Sebuh Simonian, was of Armenian ancestry. The Ottoman world could be quite cosmopolitan!
@buskdor007 longas were derived from gypsy music and were composed form according to Turkish music modes. Their composers are noted. Literal meaning must be in Romanian language.
