    I like your videos, and their low-key character. I even pulled the trigger on the ASA Nauka that you featured some time ago, and was not disappointed. This one, though, did not grab my attention. I'm not enthusiastic about cracked ice acrylics, preferring solid colors. Thanks for the review. I look forward to the next.

    • @thewetpen
      @thewetpen  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, cracked ice acrylics are also not my favorite, but I do like this one... and I don't mind it on the cap of my Opus88 Omar. Still, given the choice, I'd probably take a solid or swirly colored acrylic.

    It's always a delightful day when one receives a fine (F) fountain pen, opens the box, puts ink into the pen, and finds that it writes so smoothly and nicely. [I'm fond of F and EF nibs but also like stub nibs so much too.]

    • @thewetpen
      @thewetpen  ปีที่แล้ว

      Agreed! I don't use fine nibs very often exactly because it's been a pretty uncommon experience for me... far too often they just have too much feedback. But a good fine nib is a beautiful thing.

    Well done, a question, size of section, appears long but not as wide as 159. Love the ink color & bottle. Thanks for sharing.

    • @thewetpen
      @thewetpen  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Chris! That's right 🙂 Where the x159's section is about 15.5mm long (beyond the threads), the Magna Carta is about 20.5mm beyond the threads. And since the Magna Carta has a #6 nib, it does have a smaller grip... tapering from 12.5 down to 11mm (looks like the x159 is something like 13mm with a slight taper down to 12.5). Last month I got a Jinhao 9019, and as much as I love the look and feel of the pen (and the new converter), it has really solidified for me that I don't like the feel of large grips... I tried to sit down and write a few pages with it, and it didn't go well. I thought that I'd get used to it with time, but so far, that hasn't been the case.

    • @chrisrap52
      @chrisrap52 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@thewetpen That I understand. I too find thinner grips more comfortable for long writing sessions. BUT do enjoy my 9019s for a page or 2, when I write letters.

    • @thewetpen

      India is the best place to buy fountain pens with flex nibs! Kanwrite (Kanpur Writers) makes some of the best flex nibs available these days, and they're available in lots of different pens, and also in Kanwrite pens. Many Click pens are available with semi-flex nibs at a modest price (400 rupees or so for an Ambassador) but others like the Click President (piston filler, ebonite feed) cost about 1000 rupees but have the ultra-flex nibs and are great writers.

    Anyway the nib is seducing and the ink is lovely

    • @thewetpen
      @thewetpen  ปีที่แล้ว

      Certainly a lot of the "luxury" pen makers go in for large pens, but there are plenty of smaller ones, too :-) Epitome and Vazir pens, for example, are not large... and Ranga's non-giant pens are also very modest in size.

    I prefer acrylics with the "cracked ice" pattern to many others because no matter whether the parts have been machined from different rods, misaligned or otherwise mismatched, it doesn't spoil the design. That green color is bold. I like it, but I have a doubt about the position of the logo; it seems too high on the ring. I'm impressed by the better quality Indian pens. They have a lot of flair.
    Thank you for another of your poised and informative presentations.
    However, this mysterious teaser hovering over the Epitome is nagging at me. What drama is going on behind the scenes? My imagination leads me to hypotheses, each more horrifying than the last. The suspense tortures me like Peter Lorre in Island Of Doomed Men: "You must never talk too much. Nervous men sometimes talk too much, and they make mistakes, and you musn't make mistakes, Mr. Brand."
