Matt, the motorcycle gods were shining on you that day. Not only to have run into a friend of your Dad's but to have him take you on a wonderful journey.
That's cool you ran across an old child hood friend of your dads. Agree, I have met some of the coolest folks when riding, it's like you never meet a stranger who rides. RIP Annette.
i dont mean to be so off topic but does anyone know of a method to get back into an instagram account..? I stupidly forgot the login password. I would love any help you can offer me!
Nice of the GS rider to show you new roads. You do meet nice people out on bikes. Nice video as always Matt. Hope you are selling lots of bikes too. Thanks.
Thanks Matt. Road the route today. It was awesome! Stopped in at Hell's Kitchen for a burger and met Frank the new owner - very cool guy. After he bought the place he had a grand reopening in March and said he had over 7200 bikes show up for the event and showed me some awesome pics. He asked how I heard of his place and I told him from this video and he said he knew you. The best part of the ride was coming back from the lake. Very little cagers in the way, lots of twisting on the twisties. Next time I'll take the backroad route as this was my first time on the main road.
Took that beautiful road many times going to base back in the 90’s. Beautiful country outside of large metropolitan areas. I don’t miss the traffic out there, that’s for sure.
Always nicely executed camera work, with clear, articulate and thoughtful content Matt. Easy to listen to, thank you. Always safety first. Keep the big picture and ride safe my Road Warrior brother.
Great road your dad"s friend took you on. Did not see a single car. Great scenery from the drone. Nice way to spend the day. Take care Matt. Thank you.
Matt...as usual...great job...very Nice video ..you have some nice places to go ride. Wished I could join you..but stuck in Kansas...California is on my Mind...was in the USN..in Long Beach..back in 68..it was cool back then too!..Thanks again..c ya..
Thanks for capturing and sharing this ride Matt! My friends and I used to travel from Perris to Salt Creek by way of Ortega Highway back in the 90's. I miss surfing Salt Creek...man, this brought back so many memories. Keep up the great work and rides. Cheers from Australia!
This was kool to see this 👍🏼 I’m from perris off hwy 74 basically over by Meadowbrook market so it was cool to see the old highway again Many Fourth of Julys spent in the late 80s early 90s at Lake Elsinore.
Great meeting you on this ride Matt. I may have been mistaken about the location of Annette's crash site. If anyone complains, blame it on me. Let's meet again, soon. I've got some other amazing less traveled roads up my sleeve's.
Hi Matt, another great video. Being from the North East have never got to CA to ride so your videos are always appreciated (beautiful views) and hopefully I will get there in the near future. Finally made it to retirement and bought a 2018 Limited Low, love the bike!
Great ride! We have some wonderful rides around here to, but few riders like you to publish such great reviews. I've been a fan of your site for more than a year now, I'm always waiting for new posts. Keep creating these great posts, love the info and the reviews!
I live in Lakeside which is east of san diego. A good ride is up to julian then head down to Borrego springs, there is a nice little bar/restaurant called Carly's.
Awesome video Matt, one of the reasons I like riding in So Cal. Great ride I never even seen that road and I ride Ortega every once in while. Can't wait to check it out. Nice bonus, you never know who you'll run into on a ride, great community in So Cal. Keep em coming Matt
Nice video Matt, I ride Hwy 74 all the time. Like you I was saddened to hear of Anette's passing, she was a sweetheart and loved motorcycles. Still not sure of exactly what happened. Your bike is looking sweet bro, dig that seat. It's a Corbin, right? I had them on my sportbikes, do you suggest one for my M8 Road King?. I'm going to try that side road next time I'm up there, thanks Jerry! ou going to Laughlin ?
Great video! I live in Irvine so the Ortega is always a great spot. Further south by valley center is a place called Josie’s hideout saloon which is on the way to Julian. When you get to Julian I recommend going to Julian beer co they serve great bbq.
During several decades, I used to live near both ends of the 74. Rode and drove many decades on the Ortega (for pleasure and to/fro work) and explored everything in and around the area on my bikes. It used to be my bar and restaurant hopping goto ride. The highway IS dangerous and IS a killer. It used to be touted as the most dangerous road in California. Nice video and great narration too. Thanks. All of the hills and mountains within a hundred miles of there make for great day trips. Way too many to describe. Ride safe as I know you do and stay far away from the stupid idiots on the road. [1984 FLHX, 2002 Road King, and 2010 FLSTFB Lo]
Matt try the rest of 74. Once you get to Elsinore keep going east through Hemet and you end up in Idyllwild and Mountain Center and if you go long enough you hit Palm Springs.
Great video Matt it's a good thing that you was able to bump into a childhood friend of your father's I believe that the most high Maneuvers people in certain places at certain times and it was good that you guys got a chance to catch up on some things probably from when he was growing up with your dad or what not but overall great video you guys look like you had fun.
Think I've said it before, but love ur StormTrooper bike. Really nice work with the Drone footage too. Sorry to hear about Annette, RIP, condolences to her family and friends. Aussie biker 😞 I hope one day to return to the U.S. Hire out a Harley and do a trek with the missus. One day !!!!!
Awesome man! I was in L. A. last week and rented a bike for a couple days from Newport Beach. I rode Hwy 74 twice on Friday and once on Saturday before I returned it.
I tried to for sure! Got a pic at Cook’s Corner. Took the wife down PCH and I-5 to Hwy 76 near San Diego and then I-15 north to Hwy 74 as a loop on Saturday.
Great video. I enjoy watching your style of vlog. I want to suggest if you haven’t already done it the Kern River Canyon. Take a day ride up to the Kern River Brewery and then head back down to LA. also California springs is a great ride. Hope to see you out there one day. Ride safe!
Matt......are most dudes riding with Fullface on Baggers Now. I pick up my 19' Street Glide Special and was thinking of grabbing a full face and retiring my half shell.
Cool bike! Because of you I’m now going to ride a Streetglide at my local Harley dealer during the demo days here in Belgium. I’m afraid I’m going to like it 😜.
Yep, I did like it! I know what my next motorcycle is going to be ... only need to convince my wife now that I need a Harley without selling my beemer. I mean, seriously, every man should be allowed to have at least 2 bikes, right? Lol.
Hello Matt! This Franco from Sacramento and I just recently bought a 2002 Road King. Anyway I am just starting out my journey and adventure with my bike. My experience of driving a motorcycle was when I was stationed in Camp Pendleton and I was commuting to 29 Palm a lot. Before I hit the road I want to get acclimated and familiarize with the bike and its going to take about probably four to six months and the road I would love to is Highway 1. Anyway have you drove it yet and can you tell me some pointers?
Great video Matt. You mentioned you were trying to buy a secondhand bike at the start. How about a video on tips and tricks for buying a secondhand Harley. Cheers.
What a view......pretty kool guy Matt.....proud of you and your work you take time to put together for all of us.....i stay in the Clearwater beach area....FL......i used to teavel and snowboard......but never got to ride like this.....on a bike into the mtns....also good to watch Matt.....ty
