If you peel back the black tape where the wires connect to the battery case there is room to fit a 4 Amp subminature wire ended fuse on the positive supply. I did it to mine after I had cut the green wire to add some protection to the case. If the wires from the case short or if there is a fault in the radio the battery spring contacts will get very hot. The fuse will blow & prevent this.
