To be fair, I don't think the official translation isn't good enough to explain a lot of the complex power systems that are going on. I've seen it cause confusion in others and myself before I switched to (what I think is) the TCB Scans.
Yuji is literally in his own Sukuna cycle right now. Yuji takes a little damage. Flashback to Yuji getting a new technique. Sukuna is taken off guard by new technique. Sukuna adjusts. Repeat
If you oversimplify, you can even make One Piece sound dumb: 1. Go to Island 2. Get to know its story/people 3. Luffy fights and loses a few times to the villain 4. Luffy wins 5. Repeat
@@null4145 Not accurate enough unfortunately. Sukuna got introduced, didn't kill anyone (unless you count that nameless curse), got defeated. Then Sukuna got reintroduced, didn't kill anyone, didn't get defeated. Then the disaster curses appeared as a group. Killed several people, didn't get defeated. Then Kenjaku got introduced. thank you SO MUCH for this vid, this fandom is literally driving me crazy lately with the inability to take breaks and CONSTANTLY assuming that they know EXACTLY how the story is gonna go and when it doesn’t they whine and say gege “can’t write” it’s absolute insanity
People always pretentiously claim "sukuna will win bc I don't see a way for the characters to beat him" when thats the point of an endgame villain, to be powerful at the point where they seem like an impossible threat to deal with
The Sukuna Cycle is literally the point of the plan: they chip away at him, without lining up to get oneshot by a domain or world slashes. Sukuna has to keep exerting himself while conserving his strength in case more people jump in
jjktards when the king of curses, the man who washed sorcerer armies by himself actually shows why he's the strongest and still bitch about how he's too strong
@@Sploojegood, like it supposed to be this ain’t one of your fraud villains getting clapped easily, he didn’t beat the best sorcerers from heian era to then be defeated by a just one sorcerer
It was their plan for each person to fight Sukuna in a 1v1 or 2v1 to slowly weaken him. If they all tried jumping him at once he could just one shot everyone with a single domain expansion.
The concept of the Sukuna Cycle is perfectly fine. Showing each character slowly build up small victories that gradually reveal bigger weaknesses or opportunities for other characters to exploit is great. It prevents DBZ syndrome where every fight basically boils down to Goku vs Villain, where everyone else is basically pointless. Where this fails in JJK is that we have little to no attachment to most of the characters that are stepping up to fight Sukuna. Like, let's be honest, who the f#ck cares about freaking Miguel at this point in the story fighting Sukuna? Freaking Miwa is on the upper end of side characters that have reasons for the audience to be invested in during this particular fight. Miwa. Let that sink in.
@@Birthday888miguel contributed to half a chapter of fighting, while the rest of joined in. Acting as if thats "most of the characters" in the fight against sukuna is flat out delusional.
@@Birthday888idk I think pretty much everyone people care about most of these characters that showed up except Miguel and the dude in the shiesty and gege knows this so they don’t get full dedicated chapters or solo fights they a part of team up attacks mostly
One thing that went unnoticed about Higuruma's contribution was him forcing Sukuna to cut off one of his hands, which is actually part of what put Sukuna into the corner that he's in now and forced him to use Malevolent Shrine instead of healing his hands and securing the win with World-cutting Dismantle
Compared to the last few major villain endings Sukuna hasn’t broken any of the power system rules put in place. Ppl just hung up on power scaling instead of actually reading what he did. He didn’t beat gojo with overwhelming power. His heian form is revealed to be a birth defect from eating his twin. Even his domain expansion last chapter was clearly stated to be a cobbled together jank of binding vows just like he had to against gojo. But instead of realizing that the fanbase just is mad he doesn’t die to being punched in the face.
i just don't understand how he's still not trying seriously yet, bro is hanging on to life tooth and nail, he's stretching what is possible with cursed energy, like.. what even happened last chapter? bro popped a DE with a part of his brain that wasn't affected by gojo's uv, like what?!
@dattos140 nah thst doesn't seem right, he's either hiding something much more powerful like a second form or something, or gege wrote him into a corner
@@aX0n777What makes you think Sukuna isn't trying? And don't tell me about Uraume's statement from months ago, Sukuna literally hit a black flash after that and you can't hit black flashes unless you're trying your hardest and in the zone. That's jjk fandom for you. Things began like a joke but overtime people believe in this joke seriously and treat it as the absolute truth and they make it a negative critic. By example during Gojo vs Sukuna, we got a lot of fraudkuna meme, it was funny at first, however overtime people believed in this meme seriously, and they really thought Sukuna was a fraud and he wasn't powerful, it makes no sense he beat Gojo except with an asspull. Anyway Sukuna killed Gojo and it surprised them , and they lost their cool when it happened. Because they seriously thought Sukuna was a fraud, they began to say Gege made Sukuna too strong for the plot. And it's bad for the manga. Now they are at it again. Something that begin as a joke (Sukuna cycle) is now taking too seriously and literally. And they criticize it. Anyway since Gojo died this fandom(Gojo fans) is unhinged. So don't expect any fair objective critic from them.
r/jujutsufolk contributes to it heavily. That sub is awful, and anyone who wants to actually talk about it gets downcoted to hell and back. Its nothing but Sukuna, Megumi, and Hakari hate and complaints about them
It's the gojo fans. I don't know why but when it comes to gojo being portrayed in a slightly bad way whatsoever they just straight up lose their minds. Sukuna fans could be obnoxious too but they aren't this crazy. Only gojo fans do.
it happened the same with megumi slander. i used to love it bc megumi is a freakzoid but now people unironically believe he would've summoned mahoraga against todo
Personally, this gauntlet against Sukuna is emblematic of continuous battle of Jujutsu Sorcerers. It has always been a collaborative effort; each sorcerer doing their best and passing the baton and burden on to the next.
It's a good and bad example. Good, because it's a good point that literally any media can be simplified like this. Bad because it's Freiren, an anime I won't watch.
It's like these people do not understand the concept of running the gauntlet and/or don't think a villain should be capable of it. Sukuna is canonically the strongest character in the verse who ran the gauntlet in what has been described as the strongest era by the only two characters who would know. He literally came for this action and now he is getting perhaps more than he can eat. Like him winning 5 times in a row is a problem for you? Where were you when he killed the 1000+ sorcerers in a row? It is just these "protagonists will power up to an absurd level unjustified by the story" people that are downright cringe inducing. No, Yuji should not be stronger than full power Sukuna. He should be struggling heavily against Sukuna who has been weakened down to his level do to the VAST difference in intelligence and experience. Gege has done a fantastic job of making every character's actions matter in a battle that is DESPERATE. The protagonists are getting power ups, they are making plays, but that doesn't mean they will overpower Sukuna who has seen this shit before.
Exactly Gege has been doing a great job with the balance act giving experience points and level ups that make sense and are explained. He also no matter how weakened Sukuna is shows his experience/knowledge is still impossible task. I thought it was going to be tough no matter how weakened Sukana is. People still give Sukana the respect he deserves, it has to be a azzpull when ever does anything. Like dude talking about a 1000 year Jutsu genius who seen and done it all. Why it is so hard to understand there are not working. I love Yuji but what he did should not be nowhere near enough. Everyone wants this to be quick, I’m like dude him and Yuji are most important characters in story I don’t care if this goes another 30 chapters. This should feel extremely well earned full death and awakenings. Yuji nowhere near ready yet he just now tapped into his full potential, but still a novice, they all are.
@@rulerofthesaints999 No he had killed "over a thousand" sorcerers and obviously was not defeated in that time or he'd be dead ("Defeat is the same as death"). He then turned himself into the cursed fingers using the technique that Kenjaku showed him. The point is that Sukuna has been on an insane win streak but for some reason people only think that means anything when it is the protagonists he is adding to the number. It's gonna take a lot of bodies to bring him down.
@@rulerofthesaints999 The only reason Sukuna didn't immediately kill everyone was because of Gojo. A single Malevolent Shrine with its 200 meter radius would easily wipe out any sorcerer or person who was unlucky enough to be nearby, and not even Simple Domain would save them. Hakari and Mahoraga are probably the only characters who could survive that, and Gojo is the only person in the whole series who could full on tank it AND take out Sukuna's domain, by himself. Bro was truly him. Plus even without Malevolent Shrine, Sukuna is still that much stronger than everyone else, but Gojo did so much damage that he couldn't even use RCT or maximum CE output. Everyone else fought a heavily nerfed Sukuna, and still almost lost 😂
there was not a single issue with the “sukuna cycle” because it’s literally the FINAL FIGHT OF THE SERIES… did people think that gege wouldn’t expand on characters he’s made or have these characters previously mentioned fight against sukuna in the last fight of the series?? i think people’s inability to comprehend the story is mostly a side effect of jjk being the most popular anime out rn, which gets people fussy when they can’t predict what’s going to happen

these kinda people are the ones that always says "gege writing sucks", "gege glazes sukuna and toji", "im dropping the story", yet whenever the new chapters come out they always be on the edge of their seats LMAO
yes, they're kids that correlate their own ego to the next hyped character, and then cry when that character isn't god. They basically ask for a Dragon Ball match at who shouts the most.

People are just very reactionary and take a new chapter as something separate to the previous ones. I want readers to understand that they must see the bigger picture of the story being told and not just the newest shiny thing in the toy shop.
The Simplest response: the Sukuna cycle happens for most villains. Run the fight with the cast, fight someone who was hyped up, get pushed to the limits and achieve new form. It’s literally just DBZ villains in a nut shell. People just want to whine.
@@mikonyx7712regardless of how you feel about the plot, dbz had a simple yet incredibly effective formula that worked not just for it but for pretty much every shonen to come. If your main villain isn't displayed doing anything impressive or outcoasing anyone then they'll usually fall flat
As someone who started reading jjk not even two weeks ago this wasn't that noticiable, i'd say that this sukuna cycle is very much tied to the chapter by chapter reading experience
it's really annoying how incorrect, surface-level memes are disguised as legitimate criticism in the jjk fandom; i gladly would sacrifice lobotomy kaisen in exchange for more meaningful analysis of the story on its own terms
Yeah imo theres no problem with the "sukuna cycle" its just that it hasn't been animated. For us it feels like weeks in between a new character being introduced but in reality there showing up pretty quickly, i bet when the sukuna fight is animated it'll feel much "smoother"
From a writing perspective this whole final arc has been written really well (minus the end of Kenjaku). Everyone has an interesting and different dynamic with Sukuna, everyone has contributed in some way and developed, each encounter has had a different outcome, the back and forth has all been set up and natural with very little ass pulls, and it is the only manga where I an genuinely questioning if the villian will win (age of curses will return not that Sukuna will kill everyone)
Eh, I disagree. The ending of Gojo's fight was executed poorly, and the recent justification we got for it just seems like a retcon with how there were zero hints towards it in the prior chapters. Higuruma was completely screwed over with plot armor saving Sukuna in a way that made very little sense. And the plethora of side characters that are being brought back just to do very little against Sukuna just feels like Gege realizing he's killed off too many interesting characters and is scraping the bottom of the barrel for side characters he has left. Like... Did we really need Miwa or Miguel or Ino to be part of this final battle? Everything surrounding Yuji has been great, but Yuji isn't the entirety of the final arc.
@@Birthday888 I agree with gojos fight, it seemed like its not that hard to do write around it either even WITHOUT involving mahoraga. (I suspected sukuna was gonna win using a "divergant domain amplification" that would let him delay the cancelation of gojos infinite while still giving him the ability to use cleave, sukuna was already shown to be able to learn and pickup tricks super fast so it seemed logical) I'll just say for Higuruma it really doesn't feel like plot armor considering what we saw before, before we saw yuji had no curse technique so his CE was removed. it feels logical that the cursed tool (things that have been shown to be REALLY powerful) to be removed before a curse technique removal, and it is just called "Confiscation" and not anything specific in terms of side characters, eh? I like that the people are getting shown, I dont think gege killed off too many interesting characters aside from like todo
@@Birthday888 I think the Gojo finale is perfect and the retcon was uneeded but doesn’t hurt anything. The whole point was everyone (including the reader) thought Mahoraga was the only way for Sukuna to win, but what makes him the strongest is how self centered he is, that he viewed Mahoraga as just a way for himself to grow. The actual mechanics of it don’t matter too much because it is kind of splitting hairs. Also the cutaway is exactly what the scene needed. We were supposed to feel exactly how they did, rug pulled, shocked, that “there is no way Sukuna can just one shot the strongest guy?!” But he can because Gojo isn’t the strongest. He had to have that curse lifted from him, and it had to be shown in a way that cannot be argued any other way or else we don’t believe it was lifted. Sukuna just thought farther ahead than Gojo, was more skilled, and in the end had more power than him. Completely outclassed, didn’t even need Open or true form. Higaruma’s bothered me at first, but after thinking about it more doesn’t. His domain would be Godly without a drawback like that, and the point of the scene was to show that Higaruma is an amateur with Gojo-like potential, which is what the whole point of his fight was so it was fine. And the only side characters that bug me is Miguel and friend. Ino and Miwa haven’t done much so their addition is like a sprinkle, a little fun harmless bonus. Miguel and friend got a little bit too much focus for what they are, but at the end of the day it was like 2 chapters out of 30 and there was more in there than that
@@Birthday888 I mean without miguel ui ui would have been dead. Plus miguel and larue entering the fray allowed for yuji to recover and for him to land his black flash on sukuna. Without larue i dont think that would have been possible. They were definitely players, they played support roles but they definitely added to the final battle.
If you think about it, this cycle was shown MULYIPLE times before the final battle, as Mahoraga and Jogo did some cool shit or were hyped up, just to get washed by sukuna (this isn't a complaint, I am just trying to say that this isn't a new thing)
If the Namek Frieza fight happened today they would call it "the frieza cycle" bc of how it also went in the new fighter shows up, does little damage, "lol new form" then sweeps the floor with em until Goku shows up
No because the namek frieza had variety. You had piccolo show up go bar for bar with frieza and actually land some hits and then frieza transforms. But it wasn't like a one sided formula of the same thing. The only thing thats the same thing is frieza transforming. Also frieza just relied on his strenght sukuna feels like has a lot of plot copnveniences like him holding a cursed tool that takes away his technique well thats very convneient he was given this tool before the fight the tool he only uses once and stops using. You had krillin piccolo and gohan jump frieza you had rage moments where gohan got some good hits on frieza a lot of different stuff was happening that changed the pace from a bit at least to make it seem like frieza was trying. Sukuna situation is a bit different its the same formula of fight 90% of the time and the story telling us he isn't trying over and over instead of letting us find out like with frieza.
genuinely confused how people can say Gege wrote themselves into a corner and don't see how Sukuna loses. The plan has been the same since Gojo lost: use all the tricks, combos and cursed energy anomalies available to whittle Sukuna down until they can overpower him. There's no ass pull its just "can you survive the gauntlet?"
Bro Ngl these are the most hoes characters here. Higuruma being stated to have the talent similar to gojo and sukuna just for him to get packed and kusakabe never had a chance😢 they barely contributed in the fight with sukuna
Its mentally draining to be interact with the jjk community right now but am glad theres still people like you who actually enjoy analysing the story instead of reacting with brainrot terms like fraud and goat each new chapter or hating gege
It wouldn't be so bad if Gaygay didn't go into insane detail about the challengers only for them to get rinsed immediately. Like that entire chapter of Hiromi's domain and the Japanese law system only for Sukuna to just say "Yeah I'm guilty" to the point that it almost feels like filler. Also Kashimo's Mythic Beast Amber had like a paragraph of explanation only to get demolished in like a chapter. All these are really interesting but Sukuna is just boring at this point I'm glad that he's finally using other shit because he just tanked whatever damage was thrown at him and just used Cleave the entire time.
Not to mention since He killed of/Got rid of a majority of the intresting side cast (looking at Nobara inumaki and Nanami specifically) the characters hes using are bottem of the barrel Looking at you Miguel
I like the idea if sukuna being gradually weakened by an onslaught of sorcerers is cool Just wish gege would stop hyping up all these mfs like they're gonna do something
They do always do something though, by weakening him, and if they weren’t hyped up it would feel kinda bullshit when they’re able to fight him for a minute and not get instantly rolled
The only person hyping them up thinking they have a chance is you the reader, gege sets it up giving them praise/are strong, not that they have a chance to defeat Sukuna.

I think you missed the point of the Yuta and Yuji vs Sukuna fight. 1. It explains why Sukuna hates Yuji right before hand 2. It draws parallel between Yuta’s Love vs Sukuna’s Love 3. It shows how Yuji is starting to fulfill his purpose as Sukuna makes fun of Yuji by saying that Yuji finally has something to live for
Finally a comment section that gets it. Sukuna is probably only the 3rd villian in shonen history that lived up to his hype Madara, Aizen & now Sukuna. I was tired of hyped up villains losing in 6 chapters. Sukuna is taking it 1 step further by killing characters that actually matters not just fodder characters. Best villain in shonen history right now anyway.
I think its a bit weird to say people shouldn't voice their criticism for how they enjoy a story. If a big group of people dont like a cycle that has seemed to happen every few chapters for a while than i dont see it as a problem. Obviously you seem to have a bias for liking the story, doesnt mean people cant dislike it
@@tarambukis-c2q how is that an issue? I'm just saying if people don't care for the story and the way Gege is writing, then they can voice their opinion. because that's how criticism works when you are showing your work to the public. especially when there is a cycle that seems a bit lazy to most people, but for others they do not care which is fine.
The problem for me is sometimes they are flat out incorrect Take the whole”jjk fell off after shibuya “ take Simply put, it’s a delusional take. The Sukuna Cycle doesn't exist. It never existed in the first place. People were pissed seeing sukuna piece up Sorcerers every chapter, but it was a side effect of chapters coming out at a slow pace, some people are simply impatient.
It happened with Kashimo, then Higuruma, then Yuta, then Maki, then Kusakabe... How many times in a row does it need to happen before it's a cycle? Hell, we about to have Sukuna vs Miwa if theories from the latest chapter are correct.
@@CommentPositionInformer idk what this guy was talking about, it is a cycle but thats kind of the point..? its an ultimate jumping and writing like the entire cast to jump sukuna at once would be almost impossible so having a sort of montage of fights is the best way to go about it.
@@PackRodent7 what i mean by the sukuna cycle not existing is that Sukuna had quite literally been fighting nonstop, and with chapters coming out weekly or even bi-weekly, people became inpatient with the way the chapters were being structured, I wouldn't call it a cycle because it's just not, it's a story that's going forward, Everyone is single-mindedly pushing towards killing Sukuna. Sukuna owning the cast us kind of his job and you can't call that bad writing when everything that has hapoend in the story has led up to this moment (Shinjuku Showdown) People call it " The Sukuna Cycle" but it's not going to be a cycle when you can read all this in one sitting when it's finished.
The meme started when Miguel showed up cause he was one of the most random characters to appear in the fight. Btw, I think that ppl are just impatient and want to see Sukuna get bodied by Yuji cause of the hate he's gained by killing fan favorites.
My main issue is how much it's stated that he's holding back bro has brain damage low curse energy and his heart is one tap and he can't probably use megumis body and some character will say he's holding back
I feel like JJK fans never actually followed a weekly shonen series before, this is pretty standard business for final battles in shonen. I feel like this is a really big sign of what binge culture is doing to how people consume media, people really just don't have the patience, memory and attention span to properly follow a weekly chapter series anymore.

I’m so glad to see some valid comments like this is the arc we’ve been waiting for, and I hope we’re just at the start of it. Sukuna is the warrior of a king we’ve only barely seen what he’s capable of and his intelligence and strategy is just immensely superior to the modern generation. His execution is now upon his weakened form but yet he prevails over everyone. He is so smart. I want to see more chapters and I think we really need to embrace it big picture. Sukuna literally offed Gojo, the man of the series died under not even Heian Sukuna. And UiUi’s technique and soul swapping, why do we over look that advantage they have against Sukuna.
Hey there. This isn't entirely usual for my style of video's, but I've got a 1:30+ retrospective on season 1 coming up so I decided to go a little low key for this one since it's also more of a rant/stream of consciousness rather than a super structured video. Lmk what you guys think, but I probably won't be making videos like this(editing wise) all that often unless the topic is interesting and I really just wanna yap lol. Anyway, back to work.
On the part around 12:30, Kashimo forcing out the Reincarnation is just blatantly wrong. If Sukuna hadn't fought Kashimo, it wouldn't have changed anything because Sukuna still had the Cursed Tool when fighting Higuruma and would've gotten it taken away immediately after regardless. If anything, it would've made the fight a little easier given Sukuna would've been fighting in a weakened body with Yuji, Higuruma, Kusakake and Ino showed up.
Yeah and even with that weakened body Sukuna would've destroyed those 4 if he had the 10s. Also Kashimo DID force it out, not sure if you've read the manga, like Sukuna would've literally lost it he didn't use it. If that's not forcing I'm not sure what is
had to sub after you brought up how a scary amt of the fandom believed maki was gone with that first black flash and how infuriating that was. ty for actually bringing the common sense back holy shit
Video was spot on from start to finish. Very good video. Honestly the Sukuna cycle is just standard Shonen antagonist fare, Frieza did it, Madara did it, Aizen did it, Kaido did it, Sukuna won't even be the last.
Idk why people created the sukuna cycle but for me i loved the fights but i still call bs that he tanked a jacob ladder, mf had to be f up after that one
7:58 Quick correction, Higuruma's contribution wasn't Kamutoke but forcing Sukuna to cut his hand off. As recent chapters showed, Sukuna made a biding vow to kill Gojo with World cutting slash. So, now, he can only launch it if he uses 2 hands for the hand symbols, use his mouth for the enchantment and guide the cut with his own hand. By cutting one of his hands out, Higuruma put Sukuna in a place where, if the others can damage Sukuna other arms while he can't heal, then he can't use his strongest attack. We can see that when Yuji destroys Sukuna stomach mouth and Yuji focused on damaging his other arms. Higuruma was the key to locking down World cutting slash, which is basically the only attack that no one currently fighting cab defend or survive against no matter what they do
Madara fought an entire army, the strongest of every nation, Naruto's version of a super saiyan, and the 2 main characters with God mode. Sukuna fought Go/Jo, a super-farmer, gender-bent Toji, and a bunch of fodder. The Yuta-Yuji jumping was cool though.
you’re acting like sukuna is as good as any of those characters. Also, nobody jumped dio like this, lol. DIO’s longest fight in the series was a 1v1 with jotaro. Same with frieza, actually

I think that what jjk suffers from is the weekly release. It would work much better being biweekly or monthly. Jjk is so much more enjoyable when consuming it in multiple chapters at a time.
I will be rereading jjk so my opinion may change, what felt like a year to us might be just a like half an hour read My problem with the current (pre 8 black flashes) state of affairs is how Sukuna is portrayed. Just like how you said he is _THE_ strongest and this is supposed to be a gauntlet type battle to weaken him but it doesn't _feel_ like he's getting weaker (again, pre Yuji cooking Sukuna. I think the cycle may actually break now, hopefully it's not the same false hope I had when Maki pulled up). Like the Kashimo fight ended with Sukuna transforming which as you pointed out was actually an important feat cuz the others wouldn't be able to tank Sukuna's cursed tool, I am glad there are more people who appreciate Kashimo. I still think that the Kashimo portion of the fight could have been at least a chapter or two longer, I never expected him to be on the level of Gojo and Sukuna but Gege should have at least gave him one more chapter to show off. I thought of writing a whole paragraph where I dissect the fights but I decided against it and will just summarize my point. The way we are being showcased that Sukuna is the strongest in history is unsatisfying, instead of showing off his various techniques that he hasn't used since the Hein era we just get "Cleave" and "Strong Cleave". We were told that Sukuna is supposed to be weakened but instead we get stuff like "Sukuna is still not going all out" overpowering whoever fights him and then him even recovering a bit. Jjk fights aren't just about who's stronger, it's who has the best tactic, who's the sneakiest one, etc. but it feels like Sukuna is bypassing that, he tanked many many soul punches from Yuji, a Jacob's ladder, soul damage from Maki and Yuji getting inside of him. The way he's being showcased doesn't really allow us to see a path to victory, like if Sukuna actually felt pressured by Maki he would have never allowed her to stab him with the soul split katana and how would he stop her? Simply because he's faster and stronger, what would Yuta's and Rika's five minute mode do to Sukuna? Nothing because Sukuna would simply tank and then "Strong Cleave" and of course Yuji who I didn't think would be able to contribute anything pre-awakening. This is also the reason why Gojo is coming back theories are popular (besides the possible foreshadowing), because besides being the favorite character of many many people he is also realistically (not counting awakened Yuji) the only one who could finish the job because he's the only one who matched him in overall power. Tldr: Sukuna is too strong dragon ball style and we can't see a way for our heroes to realistically win (not counting awakened Yuji).
Sukuna has definitely been getting weaker, but he's not suddenly gonna get one shot. Like you mentioned sorcery is about tactics and strategy, and it's also about how you use your abilities. To me Sukuna is like LeBron, even if LeBron were to get a little injury or plays while he's sick, he's not going to be the worst player on the court. Yes his level will go down, but because he's usually operating at such a high level, him off his game is closer to the level of the average player, and combine that with his experience and high level game reading, he still will find moments to look like one of the best players on the court. Sukuna is the same, the nerfs are definitely hurting him but he's no pushover, he finds the gaps and exploits them. He takes risks that will have a big payoff. He uses binding vows to make up for what he's lost or to give him some sort of advantage
@@visionaryvjae5641 true. while i am still a little skeptical i now feel like there is a possibility for a win since Yuji awakened. I dunno how well i expressed it in my comment but what was frustrating is that it he seemed unbeatable and even op stuff that should have realistically put a dent on him didn't. But now all the damage prior stacked up and the goat Yuji Itadori with his soul punches just black flashed Sukuna into oblivion. yeah in the end he still got hit by a domain expansion and is about to be looking like "Congratulations" but seeing Sukuna actually being on the backfoot for once was great and him then being versatile? (Incomplete domain and finally using Fuga) That was just chef's kiss. Edit: also thanks for reading my original mess of a comment and being nice👍
I feel like less people would be bitching about the Sukuna Cycle if there weren't so many breaks between chapters. I'm not saying I want Gege to stop taking breaks, I genuinely want this man to prioritize himself and his health, but I do think people are just getting impatient waiting to see how much longer this will drag on for.
I think the Sukuna-Friren comparison on simplification is terrible from the jump. The issue with the 'Sukuna cycle' is it's pointless nature from a narrative standpoint. Friren traveling from town to town serves the narrative of the story being told. Sukuna letting his opponents be cool and glazing them as if theyre some sort of threat despite his abillity to easily trash them serves nothing but the extend the story. I dont care if Sukuna wins but the endless 1v1s where he lets people go at him simply cause he feels like it feels like an anime filler arc.
I completely agree i think the story is good right now and its annoying to see people think that a character is dead whenever they are offscreen and veiwing the series in such a pessimistic way.
Man this sukana cycle sucks, you leave out the tons off ass pulls. You the author is consistent but it is not. Suskana passed out when Gojo hit him with a black gals flash, he’s take 8 from Yuji and he’s fine. Gojo simple domain could stand in sukana domain expansion but everyone else but Yuji could. And the binding vow has become the sukana grey of jail free card stop making excuses for this
Gojo is on Sukuna's level in term of skill, of course his attack power and defense is better than Yuji's. Also the binding vow is a double-edged sword. Every time Sukuna makes one, he makes it harder for himself later on. Case in point, the world cutting slash couldn't be used again after Gojo without specific chants and hand signs, now he's lost two of his arms and a tongue so he's got even more problems to work around if he wants a chance to use it again
I disagree because it has made the fights boring and predictable. What should be the good guys time to actually pose a threat to the king is constantly undermined by Sukuna suddenly blitzing them like with Kashimo, Higuruma and Maki or Uruame stating Sukuna isn't going all out physically nor taking the jujutsu gangs attacks seriously after getting jumped by Yuji and Yuta The cycle has happened with Kashimo, Higuruma, Yuta, Maki and Kusakabe. The only time I've been surprised recently is by Miguel not repeating this but maybe its Yujis turn to do so. I do enjoy seeing what these characters can do but it lacks weight Don't get me wrong here Sukuna should be a considerable threat to the cast but not to the point where he's blitzing Maki without a heart and ridiculously low output. JJKs fights were amazing because they were hard to predict and had twists and turns. Recently they've been monotonous Honestly you could attribute this to Gege not having the Jujutsu gang more divided and instead decided to kill Kenjaku off pretty quickly. With Sukuna being the focul point he needs to stay standing against everyone whereas if they gave Kenjaku an actual fight Gege could have Sukuna challenged
Dude, everything that’s happening makes sense. He’s the final villain for one, and this was their plan. They were going to go in 1 or 2 at a time and weaken him because if they all tried to jump at once he’d just kill them all with a single domain expansion. Ofcourse every individual fight is predictable, but you’re looking at this chapter by chapter. It’s not a fucking one shot, this is a story. Every single individual fight is like an individual attack or movement in a 1v1. What you need to think about is the bigger picture and what the outcome will be.
@@darraghmcmullen6205 still, my point stands. Each little battle is like a small part of the entire thing. Besides some of the most legendary fights in anime are the same thing and no one seems to complain, look at Frieza, Madara, kaido, Aizen and ywach, and all of those where it's the final villain against all the good guys.
@@blacksabbath5300 I just can't agree with you. Sukuna is somehow simultaneously no diffing everyone not named Gojo but is also being backed into a corner
@@darraghmcmullen6205 yeah… it’s called everyone is putting in their 2 cents. Each person wearing him down until the final blow. Once more, exactly as as I said. Just like other cases where people don’t complain. And, if goku just killed frieza in one punch it would’ve been shit. But no, he was widdled down little by little until that final big transformation and big hit came in. Yuji is still ramping up to grow stronger and eventually it’s going to come down to that one last blow.
No just no, lil bro. I don't interact with the "fandom" and even I was disappointed with the Pikachu v Sukuna fight. Gege as a writer, is flawed up to his gills; he frequently writes himself into corners and shows his hand as an author too much to get out of them. The Sukuna cycle is literally just that, there is no nuance to it and barely any details left out to simplify. I get we like a series or it's where you get your bread from but pedestaling JJK isn't it.
Excellent analysis! It's wild to see people complaining that taking down the ultimate bad guy in JJK is exacting a toll on the heroes. I love how much of desperate struggle this fight is and how it encapsulates what it means to be a jujutsu sorcerer: sacrifice. Juxtapose this with something like the 4th Great Shinobi War in Naruto, particularly the fight against Madara (who shares a lot in common with Sukuna, conceptually). How many named characters actually bite in that fight? None. Neji gets killed earlier, but he had long lost any real relevance to the plot, and even Guy who goes all out and opens the Death Gate gets to live. It really cheapens the tension of the story when the greatest threat the world as ever seen does effectively no meaningful damage to the main cast when it's all said and done. Gege is not going to have this problem at the end of it all.
The issue with the sukuna cycle specifically is that there's a noticeable lack of impact when a seemingly big thing happens. Yuta getting cut by the world slash should've hit the audience more than it actually did. Nobody gave af about kusikabes story. Higuruma had an anti climatic end. And to make it worst, judging be their injuries, the uraume vs hakari fight has been going on a LONG time and most of it has been off screen. Nobody literally gives af about those 2 anymore. It was a hyped up fight only to have it still be offscreen. Idk what point ur trying to make by bringing up narutos war arc. Narutos war arc is WIDELY known for being narutos WORST arc.
@@Blackmustache870 I guess it's just a difference of opinion then. I've found the Sukuna fight and the fate of all the player's involved to be plenty impactful. The sacrifices that everyone is making are tragic and desperate, and are all adding up to something bigger than the sum of their parts. How much you or anyone else cares is always going to be subjective, but I think plenty of people are still very much engaged in the story going by the numbers. I feel like I described pretty well why I referenced Naruto: the Madara fight was cheapened because of how little the main cast seemingly had to sacrifice to get the win (and also because they kind of got robbed of the win anyway thanks to Kaguya). So like, pointing out that people don't like it (citation needed for that one btw) kind of just supports my claim. I'll give you one thing though: I would have liked to see more of Hakari vs. Uraume. I don't think the pacing would suffer from cutting more to that.
@Zamiel7 the point I'm making with naruto is that comparing a topic to sonething that's actually all around bad doesn't help ur point because it doesn't make the topic good either.
@@Blackmustache870 People can trash Naruto all they like, and lord knows there are plenty of valid criticisms. Doesn't change the fact that it's one of the most popular shonen anime of all time, and a cultural touchstone for the medium. You might not like it, and it's certainly not my favorite either, but blithely saying it's bad because you don't like it or feel it's overrated doesn't really amount to a counter-argument against anything I said.
@Zamiel7 I said the arc is bad, not the series, which is what u were referring to in ur 1st comment too. I actually think naruto is a consistently well written series up to the kage summit arc, which literally every arc EXCEPT the war arc. I wasn't providing a counter argument. I was questioning what argument YOU were trying to present by bringing narutos war arc up.
Its like saying that the shibuya majito fight was a cicle because of nobara, nanami and todo, all of them had a special role in the fight even when they all died or got defeated in a similar way
Its embarrassing to see so many ppl take the "Sukuna cycle" so seriously lol. The whole point of that fight is to put Sukuna's ideology of "singural uncontested power" against Yuji's one of "fighting with and for the collective". With that you add that every member of the fight came at a logical moment and brought something to the table and you realize how well writing that battle is. Jjk is NOT flawless but Gege is definitely cooking with that fight.
And like the cycle is already broken and it only lasted like 20 chapters, fights like frieza, cell or aizen in which the antagonist walked all over the cast lasted up to 40 chapters. There are three types of people who enjoy storytelling art, and the analogy works as with a magic show, the first type just enjoy the magic without asking too many questions on how it works, the second type knows how it works and still enjoys it and/or derives interest by breaking down how the magician could've had done the magic tricks, and the third type is the asshole who complains the entire show that magic isnt real and explaining the tricks behind the show, calling them cheap and how they arent real magic so the show isnt worth watching. Obviously some shows are really bad at hiding the mechanism behind them and deserve criticism but thats not what Im talking about when referring to these people. Those who complain about gojo's death and the "sukuna cycle" are the third type, they dont care about the story and themes, they just want to complaint about the narrative devices gege is using in the story without stoping to ask why gege is using those narrative tools and what meaning they have.
I think it's kinda silly to hate the fact that the literal strongest sorcerer in the verse...EVER...would be annoying because this powerhouse of a character, who's basically getting S+ in every category you can think of, isn't going down fast enough. He's sharp, his skills are refined, he's the most experienced next to Kenjaku and he makes every single person in the verse look weak next to him when holding back, with one obvious exception. I'd be extremely mad if he went down in less than 12 chapters. It needs to keep going Also towards the Kashimo point, he kind of just got outplayed, not out strengthed.

Like how he is now, when he was at his weakest in his full form. We woulda got devastated by a domain or fuga

@@rulerofthesaints999 The only reason Sukuna didn't immediately kill everyone was because of Gojo.

Everything surrounding Yuji has been great, but Yuji isn't the entirety of the final arc.
@@Birthday888literally what I’m saying
@@Birthday888 I agree with gojos fight, it seemed like its not that hard to do write around it either even WITHOUT involving mahoraga. (I suspected sukuna was gonna win using a "divergant domain amplification" that would let him delay the cancelation of gojos infinite while still giving him the ability to use cleave, sukuna was already shown to be able to learn and pickup tricks super fast so it seemed logical)
I'll just say for Higuruma it really doesn't feel like plot armor considering what we saw before, before we saw yuji had no curse technique so his CE was removed. it feels logical that the cursed tool (things that have been shown to be REALLY powerful) to be removed before a curse technique removal, and it is just called "Confiscation" and not anything specific
in terms of side characters, eh?

I was terrified…
@@Orion__no if youre terrified just from the second v2 fight i feel so sorry for you youve no idea whats coming
If the Namek Frieza fight happened today they would call it "the frieza cycle" bc of how it also went in the new fighter shows up, does little damage, "lol new form" then sweeps the floor with em until Goku shows up
Frieza, Madara, aizen, etc.
I loved how much gege managed to do with kusakabe and higuruma with so little time and so much other things going on.
Not to mention since He killed of/Got rid of a majority of the intresting side cast (looking at Nobara inumaki and Nanami specifically) the characters hes using are bottem of the barrel
Looking at you Miguel
I like the idea if sukuna being gradually weakened by an onslaught of sorcerers is cool
Just wish gege would stop hyping up all these mfs like they're gonna do something
Chadkuna grinds so hard it becomes a metaplot

I think you missed the point of the Yuta and Yuji vs Sukuna fight.
1. It explains why Sukuna hates Yuji right before hand
2. It draws parallel between Yuta’s Love vs Sukuna’s Love
Obviously you seem to have a bias for liking the story, doesnt mean people cant dislike it
The issue is most of these people don't read the manga or aren't used to following shonen with weekly chapters
The problem for me is sometimes they are flat out incorrect

@@SuneethaL-j2y well that is your opinion, some people can disagree with you in how they view the story such as saying they think Shibuya was better. Saying it's delusional is delusional itself, you are trying to force what you view as a good story onto other people and viewing their opinions as delusional.

You just figured this out now?

@@Cstan55157 I just would say wait a few chapters maybe, at this point though if you were to read from the start of shinjuku showdown you wont have any trouble since the mc is back in the fight in the latest chapters
I mean he almost got killed by Gojo let’s not pretend Heian would’ve helped much in that fight
You have no idea how hard you cooked here. Finally somebody is reading the story. 😭😭😭
Thank you for bringing some sanity into the discussion
If that's not forcing I'm not sure what is
You also forgot to mention that bad translations have been plaguing the series for years now which is part of the reason people find it so confusing.

Video was spot on from start to finish. Very good video. Honestly the Sukuna cycle is just standard Shonen antagonist fare, Frieza did it, Madara did it, Aizen did it, Kaido did it, Sukuna won't even be the last.
Maybe heian era flashback can show kamutoke strength.
Also sukuna is losing for the first time
Under the Mayo type gameplay 💀(I agree with your points in the video though)
Do people not realize that collaberation and team work has been a stable theme in the series since it's beginning chapters.

@@stargoldinum3798 I didn't say "extra stuff", I just addressed your point.
The gauntlet of underpowered, hollow characters is lame. If a billion people disagree with me, its all good.
I think that what jjk suffers from is the weekly release. It would work much better being biweekly or monthly. Jjk is so much more enjoyable when consuming it in multiple chapters at a time.
I will be rereading jjk so my opinion may change, what felt like a year to us might be just a like half an hour read
My problem with the current (pre 8 black flashes) state of affairs is how Sukuna is portrayed.
Tldr:
Sukuna is too strong dragon ball style and we can't see a way for our heroes to realistically win (not counting awakened Yuji).

Case in point, the world cutting slash couldn't be used again after Gojo without specific chants and hand signs, now he's lost two of his arms and a tongue so he's got even more problems to work around if he wants a chance to use it again
didnt expect to see ultrakill gameplay here, nice work
Kaido did it before Sukuna.
thank you, dude. Because if someone said this about Namek Saga Freeza fight, oh boy, there'd be people brawling irl
I disagree because it has made the fights boring and predictable. What should be the good guys time to actually pose a threat to the king is constantly undermined by Sukuna suddenly blitzing them like with Kashimo, Higuruma and Maki or Uruame stating Sukuna isn't going all out physically nor taking the jujutsu gangs attacks seriously after getting jumped by Yuji and Yuta
The cycle has happened with Kashimo, Higuruma, Yuta, Maki and Kusakabe. The only time I've been surprised recently is by Miguel not repeating this but maybe its Yujis turn to do so. I do enjoy seeing what these characters can do but it lacks weight
Don't get me wrong here Sukuna should be a considerable threat to the cast but not to the point where he's blitzing Maki without a heart and ridiculously low output. JJKs fights were amazing because they were hard to predict and had twists and turns. Recently they've been monotonous
Honestly you could attribute this to Gege not having the Jujutsu gang more divided and instead decided to kill Kenjaku off pretty quickly.
Yes I am curious about the outcome but how we get there matters too
@@darraghmcmullen6205 still, my point stands. Each little battle is like a small part of the entire thing.
Exactly. The use of flashbacks (constantly) to exposition dump is the number one example that he’s a terrible writer. The pacing is so inconsistent.
are we gonna ignore how ass the ultrakill gameplay in the background was
Iv been saying this for sooooo long
Excellent analysis!
Nah id win
Its like saying that the shibuya majito fight was a cicle because of nobara, nanami and todo, all of them had a special role in the fight even when they all died or got defeated in a similar way
I disagree with you

Sukuna cycle was made by paranoid Naruto fans tramuatized by the Madara cycle
Thank you for this video, holy hell i wish it was forced upon the community for them to watch this
Its embarrassing to see so many ppl take the "Sukuna cycle" so seriously lol.
I'm just annoyed that gege kept going for so long about how "Sukuna isn't even giving it his all" I for one think that's bullshit
I got hyped every time that a character i liked who showed up once or twice got a moment against sukuna
The final season of the anime is just gonna be the whole Sukuna fight
Thank you, the jujutsufolk subreddit is full of people that think jjk is boring now because of sukunakaisen
i love the ultrakill gameplay in the background
I think it's kinda silly to hate the fact that the literal strongest sorcerer in the verse...EVER...would be annoying because this powerhouse of a character, who's basically getting S+ in every category you can think of, isn't going down fast enough. He's sharp, his skills are refined, he's the most experienced next to Kenjaku and he makes every single person in the verse look weak next to him when holding back, with one obvious exception. I'd be extremely mad if he went down in less than 12 chapters. It needs to keep going
Also towards the Kashimo point, he kind of just got outplayed, not out strengthed.
It feels like the final battles with Sukuna will go the Attack on Titan and be released as movie/OVA series based on the current pacing.
All this talk about cycles got me thinking about rainworld
I watched Frieren, still thought it was boring lol
finally, thank you
Didn't Higuruma also confiscate Sukuna's ct 10 shadows? I know mahoraga is gone, but he still could have fused the other ones
If i remember correctly they stated he already lost It when he used his true form against kashimo
