  • Old bit of footage from the dustbin at Castle Greywolf featuring various luminaries from the sixties and seventies. Here holder dismisses Kiddie Fiddler Jonathan King's assertion that bands like Slade and mega stars like Rod Stewart, Elton John et al were talentless pieces of shite....discuss.

I think that Bob Harris gave the most balanced view here, but then I'm a fan of 60s and 70s music.

J King a nobody sitting there judging talent that time has proved what Noddy said. Great songs and music stands on its own.

These people are are the Kings of the generation as they are sadly passing away, nothing is coming these days in comparison, it is very sad.

Johnathan King gave a distorted view... with a grain of truth about 70's music.
For a while it was fashionable to bash the 70's and compare them negatively to other eras ( which he was doing.) Now things have changed, and we view the 1970's as a great era.

I would go as far to say the great era cannot be tied to one decade, it was 1966-1978 which I think had the greatest quantity of really good and new (then) sounding creative output.

Love Slade. The funniest Band in History. The Seventies Music is much better than sixties. The Beatles were great but Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, Zeppelin, Pink Floyd and a few others are still on the Radio and the young people love those Bands. I love sixties music also but it was the Early Seventies that was the best period in Rock in my Period. I love Elvis also.

He was the founder of UK records and he signed and named 10cc to his label. He’s also an arrogant Pratt.
