    The fact that you can shoot a new system and use a flash, or not, answer questions, pose a model, and make a tutorial video, and at the same time take great photos, shows your skill, talent, and intelligence. The whole thing is a pleasure to watch.

    Thanks Joy! I'm a new R5 owner but a long time Canon owner. I just retired as a Captain at a major airline and have been photoing my wife on her fashion blog for 4 years. Your videos are great and extremely helpful and I enjoy the tone and inclusion of all skill levels. Hope to see more. Thanks, Bill

    I picked up the R5 five weeks ago and was so impressed I sold the 1DX2 and 5DSR and bought an R6 also. Will miss the build of the 1DX2 and the OVF sometimes but the auto focus and silent shutter are worth it. The 1DX2 sounded like a freight train with the shutter and mirror slap.

      It's a nice upgrade, but I do miss optical sometimes too

    Many greetings from Berlin / Germany to Manhattan / USA! I have been following Vanessa's TH-cams with great pleasure for some time, especially with the Canon R cameras and RF lenses. Since I am only a "normal" customer and not a Canon ambassador, I unfortunately have to wait a while for delivery of my dream combination R5 and the RF 28-70 2.0 - the greater my interest in Vanessa's videos! A happy wave across the Atlantic with joy!

    Love the use of the rear screen to adjust exposure and not even look at the meter. I really need to do this and trust my own judgement as opposed to religously using the meter. Even though it was quite expensive, I love the R5 and so pleased I upgraded from the R.

    • @VanessaJoy
      @VanessaJoy  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's definitely a nice perk but do check your histogram too for more accuracy :-)

    Hi Vanessa, super tuto ! You are a very good teacher. very useful to see the lcd with settings and results. very interesting the part with reflections in windows. I leant this trick with you to set exposure in liveview and using viewfinder for focus. This work great with my D750 where i was always off with matrix or spot metering. Unfortunately i can't go further as you do with R5 liveview because d750 LV is very limited and we have no eye detection. To keep all my nikon lens i thought about buying a Z6II but i have seen eye detection is really poor when face doesn't fill the entire screen.

    Love the video and the pictures. When exposing for the model with the bright background using manual, did you expose the shot so the meter is balanced then you dial in exposure compensation? Thanks you for clarification-this is inexperience for ya 😂😂

    • @VanessaJoy
      @VanessaJoy  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I expose for her skin and ignore the meter 😊

      @@VanessaJoy if I wasn't a Nikon user I'd get the r5 or r6 without question immediately but from a business standpoint I feel at this stage of things I'm gonna stick to my current nikon mirrorless system. It's the photographer that makes the images right? 😊. You're tutorials are super solid and love the way you use your gear. I've learned a lot from your channel, no matter what camera you've used but again.. That damn R5. 😂🤣

    If you shoot the 28-70 at 1.6 crop at 53mm at f2.0, will it look EXACTLY same as the 85 at f2.0? I'm thinking of not carrying both lenses.

    • @VanessaJoy
      @VanessaJoy  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      exactly no, close yes

  • @jlawr4427

    If you use a clear or UV filter on the new RF lenses, does it negatively affect the image quality?

  • @waawaaweewaa2045

    This is kind of tough to watch in portrait mode. You're better off shooting in landscape and reframing it for other mediums so you have the flexibility to watch on phone and computer.

    • @VanessaJoy

      Not possible when shooting live to IG 😉

      @@VanessaJoy very true, and the 1DX2 with telephoto caused a Hernia so I was waiting for a Canon Mirrorless with the spec of the R5 before I sold it on.

    Very nice video ! I am moving over to mirrorless canon from dslr canon. I likewise shoot with profoto. On the Profoto website it says, and ppl have mentioned issues with ttl use of the flash with canon mirrorless. Have you notices a difference?
