    Your videos are the only ones I can understand. I started out never having made a friendship bracelet before and made my first candy stripe as a birthday present for my bf, which turned out pretty good. Now I can make almost anything bc of your videos. Thank you for always explaining things so well!!

    Great turorial! But i accidently mixed up one of the strings so i only managed to do 4 o the crosses because otherwise it would have repeated itself but a new colour would have been added so i had to cut it short and make it a keyring still love it though❤

    Overlapping Dovetail
    5 colors, fold in half and make a loop. Make mirror image. Do segment knotting(how you make a chevron or candy stripe)
    Left side: all forward knots with outer string.
    Right side: all backward knots with outer string. Take middle strands and do backward knots.
    Left side: forward knots with outer string only on three strings. Then, take new outer string, and do forward knots only on two strings. Finally, take new outer string and do forward knots only on one string.
    Right side: Do the exact same thing, only instead of backward knots, you do forward knots.
    Note: Take out outer strands now.
    Left side: Take middle strand, and do backward knots on the rest of the strands on the left side.
    Right side: Take middle strand, and do forward knots on the rest of the strands on the left side.
    Note: Take the new outer strands out now(do not bring back old outer strands).
    Take middle strands, and tie them in a backward knot.
    Left side: Take left middle strand, and do backward knots on the rest of the strands on the right side.
    Right side: Take right middle strand, and do forward knots on the rest of the strands on the right side.
    Take middle strands and tie them in a backward knot.
    Note: Take out new outer strands out now(do not bring back old outer strands).
    Left side: Take left middle strand, and do one backward knot on the left strands.
    Right side: Take right middle strand, and do one forward knot on the right strands.
    Tie middle strands with backward knot.
    Bring back all outer strands and repeat instructions until bracelet is desired length.
    I'm doing this for a newspaper article, so hope this helped.

    Any tutorial in how to end the bracelet?

    • @Craftanatic
      @Craftanatic  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There are videos out there already such as triangle ends, etc., but they are more aesthetic. If you really want to, you can just tie all the strings into an overhand knot and then make your ties. (This works for starting the bracelet as well.)

    Before I start this tutorial, I was wondering if the length of the strings differ. For example, will some lengths run out faster than others or vice versa?

    • @Craftanatic
      @Craftanatic  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Julia Balaban I think some strings will start to get shorter than others, but if I remember right, it’s not a totally noticeable difference. I measured each string about 35” for a 6-inch bracelet and that worked out great for me.

    How would you put a border on this one?

    • @Craftanatic
      @Craftanatic  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mya Porter Put your border strands on the outermost left and right side, then start by doing forward/backward & backward/forward knots before you start the first row of the pattern itself, then make sure you keep doing those every time. It helps to look at the pattern and do it row by row first until you get the hang of it!
