  • Join me as I restore my vintage Tamiya Hotshot. Warts and all!
It's an in depth journey as I combine new parts with old parts while updating the Hotshot for modern times...
It's a resto-mod project as I add a brushless motor, electronic speed control, aerial-less receiver, Lipo battery, aluminium wheel hubs and tire adapters, aluminum battery holder, and various suspension upgrades.
If you want to learn all (and I mean all) about the "guts" of the Hotshot or just want to know how to upgrade the buggy...then this video is for you!
It's not short...but if you enjoy the RC hobby as much as I do, then you may just like the length and detailed restoration of this Iconic Tamiya 4WD Buggy.
Stick to the end for a test on our dirt track..spills and thrills!

The front suspension is adjustable so there was no need for the ugly bolt. You just twist the red section around that touches the spring and there's 3 setting to chose from. Hope that helps someone

I actualy have new springs on it now..so the suspension settings will now work..problem was the old suspension springs were about 35 years old and no amount of standard adjustable settings would work.

Where did you attach the on/off switch? I am building a similar set up but cannot find a good fit.

Yikes! Think it'd be easier to build a full size car! Look forward to your Caterham Seven build.... ;^)

I never did RC cars as a kid so you lost me at 15 min. but the racing footage at the end! Amazing! How did you get the subjective footage with the cam in the car? Smooooooth!
