    Anyone else having trouble viewing this video? I’m a beginner and really loving Jason’s teaching style. I’d love to watch this one!

    This lesson helped me get a good tone in one evening of practice. The through away bow and looping was great advise. When I start to sound scratchy I stop, practice looping and through away and in a short time I'm back on track and sounding ok again. Thanks! This is just what I needed.

    For everybody who has been playing for awhile but struggling with getting the fiddle tune sound like a fiddle. Fiddlehed is spot on. He is better than all those other online lessons videos on you tube.
    Now my story.......I ran across your video lessons while searching for Old Joe Clark, beause it is a simple tune but I didn't have that rhythm. My teacher called it syncopated - don't know what that means. Then, i found this lesson, which does so much to give me confidence that your way - which what I was doing secretly away from my teacher - is a more natural way to learn fiddle tunes.
    My teacher is classical and has corrected lot of my bowing and has improved my playing. But, believes in the formality of a classical trained violinist. And, I notice you have great wrist movement, even on the beginner videos where you play slow.
    Thank you Fiddlehed for your online lessons.

    All of your videos are fantastic but this video has helped me out the most.
    By only playing a few notes at time until you have a good sound before moving on to the next few notes is one of the best advice I have gotten on violin playing

    So yeah, I've been piling on the tunes but not working on tone. I've also been unhappy with my fingering. After 9 months of learning, I'm still scratching and screeching on tunes I've been learning since day one. Anyway, I watched this video and decided tonight to stick to one tune at practice and to break down the tune into smaller and smaller sections and "loop" them like you said. And it worked! I came away from tonight's practice much happier with how things sounded and not so frustrated I wanted to throw the fiddle out the window, like the past few practices have been. Thank you!

    Great advice. I’ve been really trying to relax more when I play. It amazing how much feeling can be put into an instrument. I play Cape Breton style, and I’m still working on getting my playing to sound less forced. Thanks for the tips!

    Great , great three tips ; it does seem that moving on to the next tune is the habit in many musical endeavors ; It seems the same in classical, peoples wanna run for they can walk , your ideas build confidence that slowing down is both 'okay' , and a reliable way to reach your goal , thanks

      Good posture because if you don't have good posture you will have a bad habit of that and it won't help you back.

    Thank you so much for ALL you're videos. I can't tell you how much they are helping me. This one really helps. As you say I know the tunes but not happy with my tone. Some great advice here. Any advice to play faster. Is it just a case of time.( I've been playing for 8 months).

    • @fiddl3hed
      @fiddl3hed  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      My advice is to not play fast for now. Down the line, you can use a metronome to speed up your tunes.

      FiddleHed Im from a small town in West Cork in Ireland called Bantry, its along the wild Atlantic way and what you teach is typically what we hear at a trad session in the pubs here. Its mighty your teaching it and also making it popular, so thanks again. Another fiddle song you might like is by the Dubliners "muirsin Durkin" if you know it

I could lend you my fiddle and you could play a few tunes on wolfe tone square for the crowd if you want, they would love the likes of you. Killarney is about 45minutes away and its a very scenic route their through Glengarriff. Its a fabulous part of the country really, I hope you bring some nice weather with you!
