What about some mini comics about your mushroom friend? Like, here is how he's going shopping or to the movies or whatever? Just one page long. It's Not quite shojo but why not? And as soon as you don't feel it anymore you can just stop because every story is finished within one page so there are no lose ends.
This is the cutest set up ever! For me, mushroons are never dated! I love them so much, they are fascinating, cute (and maybe dangerous). Just awesome
