Competition between Honda and Nissan is gonna be interesting. The base City is cheaper plus more powerful than the Almera. The top-spec Almera is probably gonna compete with the City RS. If you ask me, the City RS beats the Almera in terms of power, fuel economy and safety tech even though the City RS is probably gonna cost around RM100K because its a hybrid. Long term reliability wise...... Let's just say 3 cylinders aren't as durable than 4 cylinders but with the advancement of engineering and technology, time will tell.

I'd go for the X50 due to similar price segment, better ADAS 2.0, definitely more powerful engine+responsive DCT gearbox and much nicer looking head unit and digital cluster. Only downside is maintenance cost is a bit higher. Among B-segment sedans, I was a big fan of the previous gen Honda City GM6 but I must say the new Nissan Almera looks better than the new City (specifically the digital cluster, AEB and FCW should be bare minimum for a 2020/21 car but missing on City V). However, I think it would be hard to convince people who prefer fast driving/highway driving that a 1.0T + CVT powertrain can keep up at the speed limit.
Here, I think the City will still win in terms of discerning buyers who care about engine/powertrain performance -- just that these buyers would probably top up for the X50 Flagship.
Need to look at hp to weight ratio. Almera is lightest at 1.1 tons and gives best fuel economy whereas x50 is the heaviest at 1.5 tons and worst in fuel economy.
Wise choice. Pls do a review here after 18mths of ownership. I would like to know how well the engine bay cover perform it duty and also the fuel consumption for a small 1.5litres engine

Honda being famous for using cheap quality plastic for door trim, dash board...etc. That's why honda selling price cheaper, to suit buyer

I think this car has little to no chance on beating proton x50 premium. X50 premium is more bang for your buck.
