If that is true they did not know the full truth, they should have investigated it. Their job should be to hold one another accountable and protect the people.
Well, based on what has come out, the elders at Shady Grove as well as an elder at Gateway Churxh knew. So that statement that they came out with saying they did not know was lies. Cindy came out after that statement and said they knew.
If you are judging this as a sinful act from pastor Morris when he is speaking about whom he was in the pastwith honesty, i would say the opposite. This is a pastor whom never hid the truth which is rare to find in the pulpit. Being a pastor doesn’t mean we tell the world every sin we commited. It means we confess it to God, we repent and turn away from it. The same applies to all the children of God, as non of us are perfect and we all have a past. So don't be to quick to judge. As a women whom was sexually molested when i was a little girl, a "young lady", I in no way condone what pastor Rober Morris did and i don't know what i would do if it would happen to any of my grandchildren. But Pastor Morris did this a long time ago and just as i was forgiven from so much sin, through the mercy and grace God gave me, the same grace we are to offer to others. And i would question why this lady came about now. Could it be about money? Plus, we all have a past and when we repent, God is quick to forgive. Why do we think that we can judge someone that God placed in a pulpit when they repented? Pastor Morris is no different than us, and God's grace applies to all of us. The devil is out to seek whom to destroy and we are falling into his trap of creating division and unbelief, strife and self-righteousness, in the body of Christ. We should be prayng instead of coming along with the media and the mockery to God and God's people. Whom are trying to destroy and persecute the churches. And i agree. Nobody can remove and curse what God already blessed. If this pastors are being called by God to serve the people, they should not allow the enemy to remove them, using envious and jealous peoplewhom want to grow their ministry by slandering others. I would be careful to be listening to this kind of people...
First of you should have done your due diligence before this comment. The victim came out about this 2 years after the 4 1/2 years of the S A and have been, but the elders decided to go with the narrative Morris feed them and tried to blame Cindy. Secondly, "Young Lady" and a little girl are not the same. She was a12 year old little girl. He was a predator and should not have been allowed to be around children. There could possibly be more victims. His ministry was built on lies and deception. He had his congregation believe his manipulative immoral behavior stopped after he got saved at age 19. But, he began violating that child when he was 21, married with a young son, and she was 12. He should have gone to prison. Third, God holds elders at a higher standard. Go read the qualifications of an elder in scripture. He was a pastor when he did what he did. All sin will not be punished the same. An example of how the law of the land works. Someone violates a child is placed on the s@x offender registry. So, if the justice system punishes different crimes differently, you don't think God will?. God is just, and every sin will be judged rightly. You mentioned you have grandchildren. Knowing what you now know about Morris, would you allow him around your grandchildren? Lastly, forgiveness for ones sin does not eliminate the consequences of their actions. If someone commits murder and the family forgives them, they still have to face the consequences of their actions.
I think when people make such statements they are not understanding the full effects of sexual abuse. A church system Handling a moral failure is very different than a person breaking the law. A church does not have the authority to by pass our legal system. He committed a crime. He broke the law the same as if he committed murder 35 years ago. Just because a murderer repents and and it is discovered decades later he isn’t allowed to go free once caught. There are legal consequences regarding sexual abuse. Sexual abuse is often known as soul murder of a child. Plus can a person imagine being sexual abused by a pastor or priest how that can hinder a child’s relationship with God?
I am shocked at how many people are defending him. So called Christians are using the Bible to defend him, when the Bible in fact does not defend him at all. Atheists simply think too much time has passed. Do we let murderers get away with it? Honestly I'm more upset with his defenders at this point.
