How many times has someone told you that you have to watch The Chosen, the smash hit TV series depicting the life of Jesus?
My buddy Jeff Martin and I break down season 1, episode 2 & 3, reacting to all manner of interesting details from my own liberal Christian therapist perspective and Jeff’s more moderate Evangelical lens.
We get into:
Shabbat and Shabbat dinner
Conversion experiences and their psychological, social, and spiritual aspects
depiction of Jesus' interactions with children and his characterization
I’m very curious how much appetite there is for continuing with episodes like this, so please check it out and let me know what you think!

As someone who has more progressive beliefes as you guys do, watching The Chosen is like a breath of fresh air. It's not a sermon in a movie or something that throws theology like many of the "Pure Flix" films are. It takes the story of Jesus and it gives it to you as it is with artistic creativity to fill in the gaps. Highly recommend

6/10 for me. As an exvangelical myself, I was way behind all evangelicals in watching it. Told my sister half of the show is SO BAD (disciples’ acting and dialogue) and the other half makes me ball (Jesus one on one encounters and story choices) 😭

You don't want to watch a TV show because the director's dad wrote a book series 25 years ago you don't like? :)
@@TheChosenSeries no it’s not that I don’t like it. I think those books and that theology is antithetical to the gospel and has produced destructive consequences like disregard for the state of the planet and undying support of the state of Israel no matter what atrocities they carry out. If Dallas has a completely different theological ideology than his father then that is great.
