  • Part 2. I feel a bit weird about this game. There are some things about this game that I really enjoyed, but there are also parts of the game that I did not. The pixel art is fantastic. I loved the way the world looked and loved the boss designs. The characters are all voiced and Death is constantly nagging you when you die. Which is hilarious and frustrating. There also is a decent sense of humor throughout the game and some levity in stuff like this is always welcome. The music is freaking fantastic and was absolutely lovely through the entire playthrough. The story is interesting. You mother leaves for war and you are curious why she never came back and go out searching for her and stumble into some real crazy stuff. The NPCs were interesting, but some nerd in town kept killing them all so I never really had a chance to learn more about them. As far as controls you get your standard moves like a a dash, roll, double jump, but you can enhance those with an accessory. So you can dash further or even triple jump or actually fly for small bursts. Cool stuff. At the onset you get to choose from a few different lasses and can build your character how you would like. I chose the Blood Knight. You also get 3 separate skill trees. You start with one then eventually you unlock 2 more and can select which additional class you want. Cool stuff. So there are a variety of ways to make builds. One downside is that I found very few skills and weapons for my character. I found only 1 other axe in the entire game and maybe 1 or 2 other skills. That's a huge letdown. I'm not sure if it's the same for other classes, but I felt like I found a bunch of weapons for them, just none for myself. You could also upgrade your gear weapons and armor. The armor upgrades were insanely minimal and seemed impossible to upgrade to max in 1 playthrough. I spent a little time grinding to max the stuff I had near the end and I can't really say that it helped a lot. Every boss has an upgraded Heroic version and holy crap do those versions go hard. They are so much more difficult than there standard version. The game stops you before going into the final dungeon and tells you you need to fight and kill 5 Heroic bosses. So I went and did that and few more just because, but holy crap they feel freaking wildly imbalanced and honestly not that fun to fight. They hit like tanks, take very little damage themselves and just filled the screen with garbage in some form or another. I honestly was not enjoying those by and large. I like the fact the game offers re-fights, that's neat, but I feel that they needed better balancing. This game can be super tough and unforgiving at times. I had a decent enough time and there are some really fun things going on, but there were also moments I just thought that the game just needs more time to cook. Enjoy my blind playthrough.
