Valkyrie Elysium (Valkyrie Difficulty) Part 1
I know it may not be a popular opinion, but I think this may be my favorite game in the series. It like its predecessors is a solid AA tier JRPG title. They clearly don't have as large of a budget for these games so areas are reused a lot. The story is minimal and sort of takes a back seat to the gameplay. You mainly get story bits at the beginning of and end of chapters, sometimes there is a little sprinkled in during a chapter. On Valkyrie difficulty the game starts out absolutely brutal. The tutorial is a breeze and does not represent the pain that's in store from the outset. I died quite a bit and barely clawed my way to checkpoints. I misused items early and found myself up the creek a few times. Checkpoints are few and far between. When you die all your progress is wiped and it's back to the beginning. It's rough. About half way through the first chapter you find the heal spell and that helps a lot, but it's still pretty hard. Enemies hit like tanks and you can really only take 1 or 2 hits. Once you finally recruit an einherjar the heat is taken off of you a bit and things become infinitely more manageable. The combat is pretty simple but so much fun. Every enemy has a weakness and their info bar gives you all that you need. It tells you its weakness, its health and its crush bar. Enemies are weak to both a type of weapon and element. Each einherjar is associated with an element wand when summoned imbue your attacks with said element. You also have magic, as I mentioned earlier, and that is also enhanced by the einherjar's as well. It's super cool and there are a ton of different enemies to fight. Each with its own nonsense and attacks. Speaking of, you find a bunch of weapons. I think 6 in total and can be leveled in proficiency, through use, and power, with materials. When leveled you power them up and unlock new moves. I played with all of the weapons and used just about whatever I wanted and didn't have too much issue using them. I most ignored weapon weakness and stuck to just elements and magic. the levels themselves were a ton of fun to explore and there were lots of nooks and crannies to find treasure in. Treasure could have healing items, new spells, weapons, or even upgrades to your player bars like health, magic or soul. You also have 3 skill trees to level offering boosts to attack, defense and support. So there is quite a lot going on. The levels are fairly linear but very pretty to look at. Each level is unique and were pretty lengthy. In each level you can also find side quests which you can do in-between chapters and offer some great rewards. They are quick jaunts back into the same levels with a bunch of fights. You can also level your einherjar through use, but also side missions just for them. This game didn't really offer the standard Seraphic gate like the first two games. I didn't really bother with that. It did offer a challenge with one of the antagonists called Hilde's Vengeance and it takes you back through a bunch of the levels and re-fights with twists to the main games bosses. It's not all that long and after playing on Valkyrie is was cool to see what the normal game was like. All in all, I had a great time with this game. It's not super long and I am sure on easier difficulties it can be breezed through just about 20 hours or so. It's a really fun AA JRPG from Square Enix and I hope they continue to make fun and engaging budget lite games like these. Enjoy my blond playthrough.

The best thing about Valkyrie Profile 2 is that you can play how you want, the glass cannon route isn't the only option. Fortunately a lot of the best gear can be found in the Seraphic gate, some of which is in chests, others from bosses. Hrist gets her best weapon from Obsessed Ex for example. It depends on your party setup ultimately. So if you don't get all the items you need to buy crafted gear, it's not a huge issue unless you want certain builds. Valkyrie Profile 2 can be really easy or really hard depending on how you go about it. It's not exactly a forgiving game, nor is it the most intuitive but it gives you the freedom to find your own way through it. Also the bradygames guide for Valkyrie Profile 2 is horrible, tri-Ace fanboy's Gamefaqs guide is the best one.

The game certainly is hard. It's just not all that obvious about how and where you get gear without a guide. It can be a bit frustrating. I would have liked to use a full party, but there really wasn't info online about how to properly use one for postgame, so I went with what I found. Glass canon is an interesting choice as well as the risk reward for using the sealstone that has a potential at breaking your weapon for the 300% Attack up. It's got some interesting mechanics.

By the time I skipped around the map I only had 3 hp for the 3 x sisters and kept getting destroyed easily by them. Forgetting them for now, my 1st NG+ Bleeding Heart penance boss (of the 3 main bosses), was Ten Piedad. I used the Romance to the Crimson Mist with Heart of Cerulean Incense and beads: knot; ink; wheel; red wax; gnawed iron. I melted him by farting out the blood clouds whilst I jumped, holding the slide button and getting 2 x swipe + mini hop in each time. You get either side of him quickly in this way. In my non-NG+ run I discovered this mid air hop+slice thing and melted him with out much else going on equipwise. Was easy-cheesy goodness.

I think the best thing you can do is make a checklist. Did you 100% the base game? If so, compare what the new stuff is. Being that I have no idea what it is you could be missing, that's where I would start. Also, double check things. There are many times I thought I grabbed something and it turned out I actually missed it. My gameplay video isn't exactly a guide, more of a Let's Play. I also don't know what counts towards the percentage. But following a guide is a great way to get stuff. If you do use my video just know that some of the DLC was in the last video. Missing a small percentage and figuring out what you missed can be frustrating. I wish you the best and good luck.

Nice job playing through Faces of Evil! I'm glad you liked it. I had this as a kid and, though it was tough, it was enjoyable. You were curious about the differences between remastered mode and normal mode. My understanding is that in remastered mode: - You have unlimited continues for each stage (instead of 3 in normal mode) - The currency values are in line with other Zelda games, with green being worth 1, blue worth 5, and red worth 10 (in normal mode, red is worth 1, green is 5, and blue is 10) - You might be able to jump and attack without losing momentum in remastered mode (in normal mode, if you attacked in midair you would stop moving horizontally) - There are buttons dedicated to jumping and opening the inventory - You can just walk into items and rubies to pick them up (instead of having to slash them with your sword) There might be some other changes, but those are the ones I'm aware of. Another thing that this remaster did was make it run at a smooth 60 fps. I read that the CD-I version was limited to 24 fps, so the overall gameplay was a lot slower. The increase in fps really allows Link to move and make some jumps that he wouldn't be able to otherwise. For example, the jump in Shipwreck Cliffs to get to the chained up dude on the CD-I required you to use the winged helmet to get across, whereas in this playthrough you were able to simply make the jump normally. Also, those tips from Gwonam (the flying carpet man) letting you know if you've completed everything in a level or not were not part of the original game. Cheers.

It's a great series and I would happily replay the remakes sometime down the line. As for Klonoa Volleyball, I really don't have much of a desire to check that out, I'm sure it would be fun for multiplayer. I did play through Klonoa Heroes and those videos will be up sometime soon.

I see, fair enough. Cool for Heroes. I feel like giving information on the volleyball game so you know what's up about it if you don't intend on palying, feel free to read it or not. Apologies in advance if you already knew. I had fun writing it at least It's actually pretty decent for what the heck it's even doing here as a standalone Klonoa game. The controls are legitimately decent and the gameplay isn't dull at all, especially on the higher difficulties where it's a real test of dexterity, endurance, precision and reactivity. And you get see plenty of characters again, with their special attacks, voice, animations, even taunts... Despite the really off-topic concept of the game that understandably deserved it a lot of flack by fans, it's kind of a godsent, an underrated one I'd even say. A bit like Heroes and the character boxes used as emotes in a lot of places of that community. Full completion is a difficult subject for this game, as there isn't really anything that defines it. You either unlocks all the extra content of the game (easy), or get hard S ranks with all the characters (inconcievable without great mastery of the game) in order to receive the developer's message. Not sure it could make for an interesting video since that would be like basically 10 times the same thing. And let's not even get started on doing it blind...

The cartoon came out after the game by several years. However, it may have been a property where a cartoon was in the cards from the very beginning (being Nickelodeon). Despite the great cut-scenes of the games, the cartoon was disappointing.

Yeah, I had no idea, clearly. The way the game is presented I would have thought the cartoon was already a thing. Wild.

the ending was DLC because it was supposed to be the sequel but the game didint do well so they decided instead of just scrapping it to instead turn it into the DLC

Well that's a whole lot better than making you buy the ending like I had assumed. I'm glad that isn't the case then. I would have loved a sequel this game is freaking amazing.

Great playthrough. Fear Effect 2 is one of my all time favourite childhood games. To watch someone go through it blind was really refreshing!

Thank you. I'm glad you enjoyed it. It was a fun series to playthrough. It's a shame the 3rd game never panned out.

This was a fun watch. I had this game in my library for a few years on my Switch, which I bought knowing it was only around a dollar, but I did not play it until yesterday. It was quite a fun unique experience, so much so that I just had to look up online to see who else was playing it. It made me glad to not miss out on it in the end.

It really is a nifty little gem of a game. I can't wait to try out the sequel at some point.

As you may realize by now, Atrus is "writing" to keep Riven from falling apart, as it is literally on the brink of collapse. Can't have the world crumble in on his wife, can he? Same reason he stuck to it at the end of Myst, though you'd provided him a way out.

    • @cerealki11ah53

For sure, but I'm still going to call him a lazy oaf. He could totally have written - "and Riven was 4ever peaceful 'n stuff. Mmmkay?" It's a touch contrived is all. But then we wouldn't have gone to Riven and had this cool adventure.

It's pretty easy. You just need to go behind the castle in the void gate. I get there eventually from this time stamp. It was the last thing I needed too. th-cam.com/video/4Oh-2eBxE0g/w-d-xo.html

@@cerealki11ah53 Cool ^^ And there is also the two tenchu games (another stealth franchise). On the ps1 time they were those three stealth franchise : metal gear, syphon filter and tenchu. Then on the ps2, hitman and splinter cell came into the game
