In 1966 I took a dealer sponsored tour thru that assembly line that was building the 3020 & 4020 tractors. At 16 years old I watched the workers assemble the engines, transmissions and the rest of the tractors just like in the video. Then at the end of the assembly line they would start the raw unpainted tractors with steel wheels drive them off the assembly line to the paint booth. If I remember correctly they were touting a new paint booth that had water running down the inside walls to capture the paint mist. I can still hear what one of the farmers on the tour saying “John Deere sure hit it out of the park with this new tractor” Best thing about that trip I got credit from my High School Diversified Education class.😊
As an employee at the John Deere dealer one of my jobs was to go to the rail road dock and unfasten the new tractors from the flat cars
activate the dry charged batterys with the electrolyte that was strapped to the tractor then drive them to the shop and do a pre delivery set up for the farmers. Nearly all of the tractors that came to the dealer were sold units! That was my first “real” job and an experience that I will never forget!

I'm originally from Watsrloo, Iowa and I've been to the museum and it was worth the 600 mile trip to visit the museum with my youngest son, and visit family.
My Dad told me about the Waterloo, Boy tractors and he was in his 90s and wasn't able to visit the museum, that was in 2012 when he was 93 years old.
I have two brothers and an uncle who retired from Deere and several nefews and a niece who work at Deere in Waterloo.

I was born in Waterloo and left in 1970. I do go back to visit family. Went to the museum with my brother on one of my visits.

Thanks for the comment. Fort Walla Walla Museum might be something to film.

Yeah I thought about that as well. The videos the museum put out aren't that interesting. If I warn them that I am going to film and they approve, then maybe that would be a thought. I saw a "combine museum" sign or two near Pomeroy WA. I may try there as well. Thanks for responding!

My best friend from childhood, died in a rollover with a tractor i think it was a john Deere A or B model Buddy was just 10 days past his 14th birthday in Sept. Of 1969 he was cutting cotton stalks and was two fast turning on the headland. Sad day for our community that day.

A great trip through the museum. Took me back to growing up with farms all around. In high school and in the summer while in college, I worked for a few different farmers, every one of 'em a wonderful example for a boy to look up to! Alas I must add a criticism: when this was made, they could easily have found a better reader for the voiceover. This one actually called the war in the 1940's "War World 2." He also mispronounces several words, not a big deal perhaps, but enough to distract an audience.

My grandfather and his brother in law started with Deere in the 1930s. My father worked for Deere as a zone rep.. One of my first cousins was manager of the Deere regional parts warehouse in Chamblee GA (Atlanta) when he retired. And the Deere zone rep in Georgia four years ago treated me so badly on warranty on a a 333D compact track loader that I will never touch a piece of Deere equipment again. Within a year of his mistreatment I bought a Volvo 250 excavator, two Bobcat T870s and two Bobcat UTVs. I also now have a Massey Ferguson tractor and a Case backhoe. All of those would have been Deere without question if I had been treated correctly. I'm guessing this guy figured that by keeping his warranty costs low he would get promoted to a higher position before his mistreatment of customers came back to bite him or the company. And maybe he succeeded. Btu the company certainly lost. I've turned several other people away from Deere as well as a result.

How does your little rant have anything to do with the museum?
