All the club makers on the shelves and even some DTC brands have been way too comfortable overpricing their clubs 5x or more their BOM cost. Sure, they have to slap on some extra on it for R&D, sponsorships and the pro shop, but current prices are just ridiculous.
I am a Chinese and I used to contact the sellers of these Golf clubs. To be honest these clubs are really made in legit factories with nice machines, and the workers are very experienced. Essentially golf clubs are just a peice of metal and it is the designing and advertising parts that cost the most, the actual manufacture is quite cheap. Factorises sell those TEMU clubs in China at a even lower price. From my perspective it is better to buy Chinese Iron/Wedges head only and pair them with authentic shafts. Some CNC putters are also great deals. But do not buy fake drivers they are crap.
"Just a piece of metal" lol. I'm sorry, but that's just ignorant. I'm a machinist. Material cost is majority of manufacture cost. These clubs may perform similar off the shelf, but give it a year or less. They will probably cave in or snap.
@@LTR1420 Thank you and please forgive me i am not a professional. These ideas are just based on my personal experiences. One of the fake club manufacturers told me they use S20C for their Miura replica, which is the same kind of metal that miura uses. However they might be telling lies and I can't make comment on their durability. Although I chose genuine P770 irons, I still think those replicas are good deals for beginners as they will look for better clubs when they are getting serious and they can enjoy the nice feeling of best irons on the market at a low price.
@Ronniexu-tp5ir no worries. If they actually do use the same metal, they probably don't heat treat them, and I can gurantee their forging process is nonexistent. It wouldn't be a bad option for a beginner, but I would recommend a set of irons that are a few years old from a reputable manufacturer. The golf club market is so oversaturated with "new" clubs every year that aren't a significant improvement over clubs that came out 5-10 years ago. You can build a solid bag of clubs with old equipment that came out over the past decade.
Really like your content, and I appreciate your efforts doing all these research. Just to share some thoughts with you, for friendly discussion. 1、Basically, you could just remove "golf" in the title. The same circumstances apply to all kinds of products. 2、It's good to be concerned about the working environment issues of Chinese factories. But please remember, genuine products from other big brands are also made in those kinds of factories. Not just golf, not just TEMU.
yeah I'm real surprised that working conditions were highlighted and not a mention of the fact that near every other consumer good we buy has the same problem. especially in athletic wear.
Golf equipment is too expensive. I get why some people choose to get clubs from Temu but I prefer to get DTC brands. I’m a fan of RAM, Macgregor and Matlby.
I've gamed Ram in the last couple of years, and those irons worked out pretty well. Adding a new Maltby driver to the bag as we speak. Hireko is also a nice source for good prices. I've been using their Dynacraft Prophet Muscle Blades for the bulk of the last year, and they have been ridiculously good.
You are the stupid consumer that makes the problem, you see a fake club for half the price, thinking it exactly the same as the real one, them call the real manufacturer expensive for build the club to their real spec, and spending all the time and money to design it. If you want to buy cheaper clubs thats fine, but don't pretend they are the same clubs.
@@krusher74 Sometimes they ARE the real clubs. They come from the same factory. Chineese employees have been caught stealing and reselling. All of the biggest brands spend hundreds of millions of dollars every year on branding. It's their #1 expense. Most clubs only cost the manufacturers about $14 to make.
Had a PGA pro buddy who had business and manufacturing background. He had signed an NDA With a Chinese club company during a visit. who made clubs for one of the biggest American golf companies, but also had White Label clubs sold on Aliexpress.
I have a vid idea for you. What about doing videos on the history of the most famous golf courses in the world? As a newer golfer I love the sport and been catching up on a lot of info but I still don’t know what makes certain courses famous if that makes sense
I bought the knock-off p790 set off TEMU and couldnt be more satisfied. The must be made in the same factory because the play EXACTLY like my originals. everyone that hits them immediatly buys a set... They are sold out of the copper finish
Probably the first video where I didn’t agree with your opinions and that’s okay. Lower price is competition and that is really important now more than ever when everything is so expensive. The wedge looked impressive on numbers. Will have to get one to try.
I like Temu in theory - love that they are offering golfers affording equipment for once - just don't know if I can trust their methods and standards. Since everything about the app on Golf TH-cam is incredibly positive, I thought I should give a slightly different perspective on the repercussions of it all
Agreed. Kinda seemed like somebody paid for this as promo. I think if this guy sticks to more facts and less of his own opinion, his videos will do a lot better.
@@RoluGolf Honestly, the best argument against Temu clubs, are used clubs. My full bag with clubs ranging from 2014 to 2019 models (and a putter from 1982 lol) cost me less than $900 and they're not supporting more waste. They're also legal for competition play.
@@edge21str Well said. That's part of the reason I enjoyed my Nike video so much and this is definitely something I want to get into more going forward
I hate to say it but golf equipment is way too expensive. I see why it’s bad for innovation in the golf world because legit companies won’t be able to make money on research and testing but the consumer is gonna want to pay less for things, such as golf clubs. So this whole situation is a double edged sword.
Bought a Scotty Cameron copy (Newport 2 I think) from Temu, might be the best putter I've had, I've been playing a TM Spider the last couple of years. I think if anything with Temu, you just never know. Bought a forged wedge as well, which might go in the bag at some point. So, if you're lucky, you can find some absolute bargains, and sometimes it's just what it looks like, cheap knock offs.
I have bought a bunch of things from temu and most of it golf, even a putter although mostly little things and mostly knockoffs butI am very satisfied with my purchases.
Never bought clubs from Temu but for tees, gloves and training aids they save me a lot of money! When you think about it most golf equipment is made in China!
I bought a set of 13 grips for $40AUD and they came in the exact same packaging that You’d see in your local pro shop. Golf prices are way too high already some products on temu you’re just cutting out the middle man
@@krusher74 LOL. I'm supposed to believe that the CEO of my company is going to pay me more because I paid quadruple the price for the same grips?? Maybe American companies with CEO's that make tens of millions a year could just sell them for 10% more, not 400% more and I would buy them. Not to mention that the American companies are selling grips that came out of the same factory in China as the ones I bought. I'm not paying for that CEO's 2nd Yacht!! Feel free to give them your money though
Super political. If he cares a ton about the factory ethics then he and the rest of us shouldn't buy almost ANYTHING that is sold here in the US as we are China's biggest consumer. Golf companies here must be happy for this stance for this video 😂
Not only that. Look into how ethical the mining of materials for phones is. All are info is bought and sold by every company, every app, all your shit out there already.
Yes, golf equipment is way too expensive, but they do spend a lot of money in R & D. Once that product is out, it's pretty easy to copy the product and not have to use resources which increases cost.
I purchased a hat with a Master's logo for under $5 and a towel with a Masters logo for I think it was $6. Yes I know they aren't authentic, but other than the folks in Augusta Ga, who gives a flying Fuk?? The one time I was fortunate enough to get to the Masters, the only thing I could afford in the gift shop was a ball repair tool. LOL!!
