    I’m from Scotland originally and as much as I love its beauty, the Winters definitely came with too many weather challenges for me to consider going back then. I realise I’m definitely a fair weather person. I think the stork messed up when it dropped me up there. I do love watching your video vlogs Mandy (Johns too). They’re very soothing in my rather hectic life. A wee bit of escapism for me. Stay safe and warm xxx

    I know exactly how you feel about Christmas & New Year Mandy… my big brother passed away on 14th December 2013, my little cat on 15th December 2014, the anniversary of my Dad passing away on 19th December and I have just lost my darling partner of 35 years on 30th September. I find the festive season hard anyway with all those memories but it has been particularly hard this time round. Needless to say, I didn’t bother seeing New Year in as I find it too emotional. Watching your lovely videos is like sharing your thoughts with a friend but in a wonderful outdoor setting. Keep up the good work Mandy.
    Thinking of you; sending love and big hugs to you & John. Let’s hope 2024 is kind to us all. xx

Tell John please he was humming the time to airwolf. Stunning views and well done for coping with the storms and snow.

      Ah it makes for a difficult new years day doesn't it? My dad said my mum chose new years so we'd always have a bank holiday to remember her on, it sounds like something she would do - make sure we get the chance to be sad without having to work.

    Good video 👍… We did an 8 week tour of Scotland and Outer Hebrides back in April May of last year. It was the best holiday in our van ever! But we often had 4 seasons in one day … Every day was like a New Beginning in a beautiful new location and we plan to go back again. This year we are touring Ireland😊…. I lost both my mum and dad in the March of 2011 and 2012 respectively so know exactly how you feel… I really miss my mum, and every single day I wish I could spend just one more day with her. Writing this now is hard ….
    I thinking pulling over to let the weather pass over was the right and safe decision. No point in stressing out with the conditions because it is what is! … Love to you both with a happy & healthy New year to follow 🫶🍻

    Indeed, foul weather driving does require some attention and can be very tiring. Seeing a car with L plates on (what the....!!!) and that jack-knifed truck really emphasised the risks. Well done for facing up to these things, though, Mandy. Each little stretch of the skills and nerves brings more elasticity! YAM xx

    • @unadventurousmandy
      @unadventurousmandy  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, we thought the same when we saw the L plates too - those cars prevented the lorry passing and he got stuck trying to turn around in the farmers yard. I like that - stretching brings more elasticity!

I just looked in my planner to find that out because I thought it was a couple of years ago so I was shocked to see that. Christmas's and New year are horrible without her. Your adventures on the ridge brought me a memory of my mother, who passed away just a couple of weeks ago. We were looking at a book of hiking trails here in Washington state; and she got a huge kick out of the word "underappreciated' in the sentence: "Wet weather hiking is one of the most underappreciated activities in the Pacific Northwest."
    Congratulations on your improved driving skills, however harrowing the process may have been.

    Know how you feel. My stepfather died 24.12 13. You never forget.
    On a safety front I do wish that people that do not need to be out in snow should heed advice given on telly and stay at home. I worked in road haulage and we struggled in winter to try and make your life and everybody's liveable by trying to delivery everyone's daily needs. The amount of times they got caught behind people that shouldn't be out there. Let those that need to be driving professionally to get on with keeping us fed and stay at home. Sorry, but when you get stuck or worse accident, our recovery units had to turn out to get you out of danger.

    Mandy it's been 3 years 9 months since I lost my wife of 5 days.
    I have our 11 year old daughter to look after which as a bloke isn't as good as her mum and best friend could do.
    This isn't something to make you feel bad this is supposed to be. I understand your loss and I have too many letters describing my conditions and feelings as you do.
    I do believe you have good people around you, so don't stress in the snow you will be looked after by inspector gadget and your friends.
    Remember you can and are getting out and doing things, so you're braver than you think.
    You're 100 times more adventurus than I am, and yes, you've learned some snow skills.

    I never understand the ignorance, arguably arrogance and most certainly the complete dislocation of expectation, with folks driving in UK, especially during the Winter and especially in Scotland. No winter tyres, as saving money appears more important than saving lives, which winter tyres do, so instead, to save money, they believe all-season or summer tyres with snow chains will suffice. Learning and educated in how to drive in different conditions from heat, rain & floods, to ice with snow and then heavy snow, should be part of learning to drive, as well as learning, when to keep off roads. If there was a fire in a house, most people get out & the Fire Brigade go-in, so why do drivers, out of ignorance, though often arrogance of choice, drive into bad weather with no training or skills? Complete utter crazyness and stupidity, but some will do anything for a TH-cam video and then use-up tax payers money by getting rescued by emergency services, or as a minimum, blocking access and roads for emergency services. I feel sorry for the locals that live in these areas and have to deal with those visiting with no idea. So please, for your own safety and that of the emergency services, if you don't like driving in these conditions, especially without the right knowledge, training and experience, as well as the correct rubber on your tyres or correct rubber on windscreen wipers for winter, along with all the other things i will not list here for winter driving, then stay at home or stay South for the Van Life types. Then everyone stays safe and less tax payers money is needed to be spent rescuing numpty's.

    • @unadventurousmandy
      @unadventurousmandy  ปีที่แล้ว

      I think you’ve made a few incorrect assumptions here - I spent extra money buying all season, all terrrain tyres for my van, I have had extra driver training for off road driving and self recovery and am surrounded by vehicles with every extra required to free ourselves from the snow and supplies to last. As you could see, at no point were we unable to move freely through the snow and could have continued had I felt more comfortable - my reluctance was not due to inexperience or lack of driving skills but that the menopause has sapped my confidence. In fact I have used my van to help recover people in sticky situations but don’t plaster it all over socials. So before you start to assume all the bad things from people maybe start asking questions to see if indeed your assumptions are correct rather than coming across arrogant and blinkered. Thank you for watching but not for your judgement
