Amazing!! Only one concern: birds vs windows! Now all that's needed are a couple of tall Directors Chairs and a pair of binoculars! LOVE THE NATURAL SIDING!!

The owners must be chuffed to bits with the bird hide. I’m sure they’ll have many years of amazing bird/wildlife watching in it no matter what the Scottish weather can throw at it 🌨💨☀️⛈

Excellent stuff. Nice use of the waney edge timber and noted the lack of power tools where not needed. I think the owners’ smiles say it all.
Thank you for another great project.

Fantastic structure - I dread to think how much the timber alone must have cost these days. Not only does it look good, but I bet that over time, the underside of that hide will make a great shelter for wildlife, too. Great job!

I’m in the western US. And I have begun several wildlife gardens. Lost two to wildfires and one to a forced relocation. I’m going to try again! I’ve never considered a wildlife pond though. I’ve become very excited and learned a tremendous amount from watching Joel’s videos. My question… how would I go about locating someone who does your kind of pond creation? All I’ve been able to locate so far are the formal fish pond people… With pumps and algicides & all the rest. Thank you for what you do!

Unless you have a natural drop where water can cascade, then why not go with a single level pond, (single at the surface that is). Then go with oxygenating plants and some water snails. The wildlife will find the pond and together with the planting, snails and incoming insects, invertebrates & small vertebrates, the whole lot will keep the water quality good.
You might have to do the odd bit of weeding from time to time, if something starts to clog things up. Just remember if you’re thinning vegetation, to leave it on the bank close to the water edge for a day or so, so invertebrates can find their own way back into the water. Then you can add what remains of the thinnings, either to the compost heap or if woody, make/add to a dead-hedge.
      Good luck with the pond.

I'm in Md, you might try asking around your garden centers, someone may know where to guide you. My pond is a liner pond, it attracts everything, had a snapping turtle in there towards the end of summer. Granted I wasn't too happy about it, worried about my dragonfly nymphs.

That is one solid building and I love how rustic it looks on the outside.
Curious why the windows didn't go all they way down for a more open view. Also, will there be any issues with birds flying into the glass?

The Bird HIde is superb and a lot of hard work, i can only assume that you purchased it in some sort of a self assembly building had it delivered to the site and worked from there, a headache but it looks brilliant.
