I actually really like the Coney Island cyclone trains. You typically can get airtime room with them since they’re at a set position, and the well padded seats causes the ride to be one of the smoothest woodies in the world. Also since there’s no seat dividers you can get some of the strongest laterals of any coaster if you ride alone. Although I’m a short guy so I could see the trains being an issue if you’re tall
As someone who's 6'4, arrow loopers in even-numbered rows (odd-numbered rows at least give you enough leg room to slouch forward) are basically medieval torture devices for the shoulders.
Don't try riding Cedar Point's Corkscrew. For some unknown reason, the belts connecting from the restraint to the seat are shorter there. I am about your size and I have ridden all kinds of old Arrows. Not comfortable, but doable. Not on Corkscrew. They couldn't make the belt buckle at all. Next day (or two days later, I don't recall) ant Michigan's Adventure - no problem riding their Corkscrew at all. And, even though not a coaster, ever tried riding Larson Loops? 😵
Dear god, Tennessee Tornado nearly drove me insane. It was already kind of uncomfortable leaving the station, and during the ride the OSTRs clamped down even more leaving me to uncomfortably hunch to try and not have my shoulders dig into the restraint, and the final brake run was pure agony waiting to get off
I’m 6’5 and the last time I went to Dollywood we were placed in the VERY back row of TN Tornado and the second I sat down I told my brother that this is not a good idea and wanted to get off. Of course it was too late that point and just the small turn around before the main drop made me realize how fucked I was about to be. Those last two loops did me dirty. My shoulders were bruised for days 😅
It's a work of art really. The seat is high enough that your feet don't touch the ground and the only restriction is on your lap. Plus, the cars are far enough apart that your view isn't impeded.
Volares need to be on the uncomfortable list as well. And Thunderbolt at Coney Island, those seats felt like sitting in a booth at a crappy fast food restaurant
Thanks for including Whizzer in the most comfortable category! I grew up riding that coaster and it was always great after a long day to just get on Whizzer and basically take a nap. It is literally more comfortable than most of the chairs in my house.
As a tall guy, the front car of any arrow that has that massive leg room is awesome, also the trains on phantoms revenge are really comfortable too. Not sure what my least favorite ever is, there’s some that really aren’t good for a anyone over 6ft
As someone who's 190,5cm/6ft 3in I can confirm that there are definitely trains that are simply not made for me/us tall people. I feel like a canned sardine in the RMC box trains for example; I feel completely tucked away and folded over.
Phantom’s Revenge is also SUPER plus-size friendly with that lap bar. KW is my home park but I have a friend from Ohio who is a larger guy and gets a pass here instead of Cedar Fair because of this.
Amen to B&M clamshells and Millennium Flyers. They’re gifts from the heavens for coaster enthusiasts. I don’t think I’ve ever gotten stapled on either, even as a bigger guy, and the airtime they give is insane. My worst are the Arrow OSTRs, Tennessee Tornado in particular, after having it clamp down further during the ride and having to uncomfortably hunch and force myself down into my seat to not have my shoulders crushed by the restraint. B&M vests are up there too, not because of lack of airtime for me, but because they all love digging into my collarbone making me slink into my seat to avoid it
I've always hated the Premier trains. For example, Tigris. Horrible space, horrible restraints. It just bruises my thighs and leaves me not wanting to ride anything else. Intamin LSM Coasters are the best trains. VelociCoaster is my all-time favorite for its airtime and rerideability. Good ops, good stats, overall a perfect coaster. Also, the coaster in the thumbnail, I lived there and rode it several times. It was my first coaster as a kid. Now I'm in Florida with way better parks. Btw, why Cheetah Hunt? They're not really that bad besides the heartline roll.
Surprised to see a list of comfortable restraints without Phantom’s Revenge. In addition to the lap bar being enormously comfortable, it’s also very accommodating for larger riders. EDIT: I almost forgot to shout out the OG Steel Phantom for one of the least comfortable. Not the train so much as the ride entering the inversions with way too much speed and really ringing your bell. It’s been 25 years and I still haven’t forgotten. I file Comet at Waldameer under “tough for taller riders”. I’m too tall myself to ride in a seat with my kid and basically had to manspread to fit my knees in.
Love the B&M hyper seats and restraint. Used to be my favourite trains till I rode Top Thrill 2! The lap bars are equally as comfortable and if u have room the restraints lock and stay in position the entire ride and they are amazing. Super comfortable seats too. By far the best trains out there for me! Intamin’s new gen trains are great too. Very similar to Top Thrill 2 however I get stapled easily but they are still comfortable
I'm shocked that the old Arrow trains on Canyon Blaster at Adventure Dome didn't make the cut. Absolutely no padding on the seats + old Arrow over-the-shoulder restraints. That's a recipe for PAIN.
@@Southeastern_Thrills I haven't ridden it since 2010 but I really loved it. Don't remember the trains being particularly different from other typical Arrow loopers.
I have to agree about B&M hypers having the best trains. Comfy every time! My personal worst would be the trains on Hagrid's. The sidecar seats were so painful because of the way the shinguards made me sit.
Surprised to see Cannibal wasn't mentioned as a comfortable train experience. This is a ride where you staple yourself for your own self preservation from that first drop. Yet you always feel secure and very comfortable with it's contoured clamshell design. I almost always forget about the shinguards because I don't even feel them. Good design. The trains are quick to load and unload and still feel open and roomy even for a small 4x3 train. Amazing engineering. Also really the first of it's kind from a lesser known engineering firm. Home Run, top notch!
I want to throw another uncomfortable one into the mix: The S&S trains on Powder Keg. It's a great coaster and I love it, but seating... nope. First of all, the seats are too close to the floor of the ride vehicle, so that your knees are way higher than your butt. Then, add the weird "swing over and ratchet down" lap bar that S&S also use on their Screaming Swings. Certainly not my favorite seating...

I rode that once. I still remember the look the ride operator gave me, that trust me you don't want that. When I rode it there were two options single ride or single day. Single day would pay for itself after the second ride and there was no line. After my one ride, I thanked the operator for saving me some money.
The trains apparently can't handle the extreme forces with launching and spiraling up and down a 420-foot tophat, but the seats on Top Thrill 2 were ridiculously comfortable, and even a big fat guy like me had no problem getting in and out. So on a more normal ride the lightning trains could be really nice.

Denying row requests, and by some crazy work, I got stapled on leviathan AND behemoth. Thankfully I got a second ride on leviathan but god they purposely stapled me I swear
I want to say as someone who is 6’7 and who’s home park is sfot, shockwave’s restraints are AWFUL for me. My knees are pushed into the padding - if my legs were a big longer, I genuinely would not fit. Even the restraints on Texas Giant are fine compared the shockwave restraints. I love shockwave, but the trains really knock down the experience for someone as tall as I am
My worst experience was by far Pantheon. The ride op literally had to lift himself off the ground to staple me in. And yet, Velicoaster is so free and maybe the best ever, except for buzz bars.
Not gonna lie but I miss Skyrush’s old restraints😂 but Premier ride restraints are the worst. I’m always struggling on Tempesto with the over the head straps that do nothing
The worst train I've ever been on was Condor @ Walibi Holland. The first ever SLC. It even has a never train with a vest, but it came down so hard, by the end my legs were losing circulation.
#1 should be side friction coasters like leap the dips. Basically just a rolling leather couch with no restraint. just small bar in front of you to hold onto, not even a seatbelt.
Jackrabbit at Kennywood has trains like that - just a grab bar that you slide around to get in the seat. So you get to feel all of the airtime on the double down.
As someone who's 6'5", RMC Ibox trains are the absolute worst, or any coaster with shin guards for that matter. Forget having bruises after a marathon, I get bruises after 1 ride, and 3 or more makes me start bleeding. It sucks because the rides are incredible, but they also feel like they're not built for people above 5'10"
As someone who's 6'3" I already hate the RMC box trains, I can imagine they would be even worse for you. It's almost as if RMC only expects tiny people to ride, which is particularly weird on Untamed, the only RMC Ibox I've ridden up to now, *because we Dutch people are on average the tallest on the planet*
@Thim22Z7 yeah the restraints make sense on something like hakugei because people in Japan are just shorter, but when the majority of your coasters are in the US, idk why they thought to make restraints that don't account for the generally larger people that will ride them.
I actually think the RMC Hybrid trains are so awful they give me claustrophobic attacks, and I am not even claustrophobic. I actively avoid riding them after getting the cred
I'm a baby thoosie, so so far for me, the worst I've had were the RMC raptors. But I'm 6' and have horrible old man knees and hips (I'm 32 lmao) So the seating position was hard for me to even get into. When I did Wonder Woman at SFMM, I could barely bend my legs the right way to sit down to begin with, and then the ride op came and stapled me in. Not only that, but he somehow got the lap bar just right, so it was making my car keys dig into my legs the whole time. I got off the ride hyped, but with sore hips and a bruised thigh lol. And then I had to sprint to Twisted Colossus before the park closed.
How the F did you not mention Superman at SFNE? Or, the old Vekoma SLC trains? Or T3? Or the worst, most uncomfortable trains of all time, the Volare?!
Surprised you didn't mention the old Arrow trains with their head banging over the shoulder restraints. They were fine for the smaller Arrow loopers in the 70's, but not Arrow's bigger and more intense loopers in the 80's and 90's. Even some of the smaller ones still bash your head against the restraints sometimes.
They’re also torture for taller people, smashing your shoulders into it if the restraint manages to come down more during the ride (which in my case is pretty much guaranteed)
As for uncomfortable, my top pick has to be Schwarzkopf with pull-down Shoulder crushers (i.e. Olympia Looping). I´m fine with the regular Schwarzkopf trains with just the Lap bars, but combine the high forces of Schwarzkopf loops with shoulder restraints that by design are coming down and you have a recipe for shoulder pain the moment you enter the first loop. Your only chance of survival is trying to push the restraint up with at least one hand.
Need to shoutout Pipeline for giving a comfortable standup experience. The surf coaster fixes a lot of the body banging that the standard standup brings.
It used to be a very common model of coaster. I think there were reasons it was so common (cheap, small footprint), and some very good reasons why it's _not_ so common anymore. This particular one can be found at the Little Amerricka roadside amusement park in Marshall, Wisconsin--a surprisingly credit-rich park for its tiny size (four coasters), though the coasters there are pretty small themselves.
I tend to dismiss complaints about uncomfortable coaster restraints (I seem to have a high tolerance; I think Superman: The Ride is not that bad, and didn't mind the one Premier Sky Rocket II I've ridden, either--granted it had no comfort collars) but I have to admit that B&M hyper clamshells put most of the others I've experienced to shame. I recently saw someone complaining on about them on the grounds that they felt too loose and that was scary! I tend to think of any kind of lapbar system as luxurious, but I do admit I really had to fold myself into the current trains on Disney World's Space Mountain.
I personally hate the RMC box trains; I can simply feel they were not made for me as a relatively tall person (190,5cm/6ft 3in). The restraints in general force me into the train as if I'm a just too large package being forced into a mailbox, but it is especially the shinguards that I despise. For me they sit on my legs in such a way that it feels like I have to snap my shins to sit comfortably (which I obviously can't).
I am so thankful you put Zambezi zinger on this list when I first took my friend on this he absolutely hated it and I don’t disagree this really ruins the ride and it’s insanely uncomfortable and can even be painful at points
Thunderhead at Dollywood is so nicely padded that it truly changes all the rattling and sashaying that you get on a woody. It was my second favorite at that park.
Some of the most uncomfortable trains I've been on include the Kumbak trains that once operated on Python at Efteling and the X-car trains on G-Force at Drayton Manor - even though they are the same type of train as on Rip Ride Rocket, the lap bar would tighten as the ride progressed so that you could barely breathe by the time you hit the brakes.
Little surprised to not see Coast Rider on the worst list with how much crap you've given the shinguards in the past. Also surprised that something managed to beat out Chance Toboggans. I suppose you've managed to avoid Togo standups to this point, not hard to imagine those are even worse than B&M's. I know there's a couple still operating in Japan, any of them happen to be on the itinerary for your trip?
I can not believe that Hollywood Rip Ride Rocket was even on the comfortable side. For me this is easily number 1 on my most uncomfortable list. I had two rides with my nephew and that was enough. Our name for that coaster is Rip Ride and Rock Your Nuts.
10:20 A closing timeframe has been confirmed for Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit at Universal Studios Florida. The roller coaster will close permanently in fall 2025.
Well, his current plan is to visit the Universal complex this year for the opening of Epic Universe, which will give him the opportunity to have one last ride on Rockit.
Uncomfortable: Flight of the Hippogriff at Universal Studios Hollywood (it's those shin guards that ruin for me), the current bobsleds on Matterhorn Bobsleds at Disneyland (if you sit in either rows 1, 3, 4, or 6, it isn't too bad; but if you sit in either rows 2 or 5, it is Cramp City). I also agree with bending your knees a bit on those stand-up coasters. Comfortable: the old 8 man bobsleds on Matterhorn Bobsleds at Disneyland (even with 2 riders per seat, the leg room was great), the chariot car on Tron Lightcycle Run at Magic Kingdom (I was surprised at how comfortable it was), the trains on X2 at Magic Mountain (I seriously thought my head was laying on a pillow the first time I rode it).
The bikes are also confortable on tron but agree on both current matterhorn and flight of the hipogriff too small even for a 5'10 guy whose a lot lighter then i was.
Matterhorn is rough, being 6 3 I couldn't get comfortable (my knees were almost at the same level as my shoulders) as the train left the station. Ride operator told me not to worry he would help get me out after the ride and he did.
@@GLJosh I'm 5'8" and unless I'm sitting in either of 4 rows I mentioned, it is uncomfortable for me in the 2 middle rows. It is awesome that a Cast Member was willing to take the time to help you get out ⭐️.
To me, the most uncomfortable trains are the ones on Coast Rider at Knott's. Also the old trains on Flashback & the big ball lapbar on Z-Force, both defunct at Six Flags Magic Mountain⛰️So uncomfortable. Ugh
Timberliners are very polorizing these days, and I'd have to agree. Oscar's Wacky Taxi and Timber at Walibi Rhone-Alpes feel like they have two completely different trains when both use the same train design and are both aimed at families. Like Skyrush might be the only coaster I've ridden that's stapled me worse than Timber (it's possible it was just opening day jitters, but fair warning)
Some other bad ones : SLCs from Vekoma with the big bulky over the shoulder T3 - worst trains Rolling thunder at tropic falls. B&M flyers after riding FLY might be at the level of B&M with vest
What happened to Zamperla Volares? I mostly agree with your top 3 best btw, b&m clamshells are like a dream come true restraint, but i think Phantom's Revenge's restraints should be #3
Magnum is definitely a knee cruncher. I think the trains are what make that coaster one of my least favorites. I've never had an issue with the B&M vest restraints. I actually don't hate standups. Georgia Scorcher is a decent coaster of the model. Vortex has gotten rougher over the years. B&M hypers and gigas are the best! Love those trains! Fury and Thunder Striker are amazing! ❤
NAD trains like on Big Dipper at SCBB with the cut out hard seats are brutal when encountering airtime and you rise up and slam down back into those seats 😢
I'm shocked CoastRider isn't on the list. That has to be my number 1. (Number 2 probably being Great American Scream Machine at SFOG though that's been changed apparently?)
I find PTC trains really uncomfortable, mainly because my knees bang around on back of the seat in front of me. They are accommodating for me (I'm large) so I am happy to fit in them all, but next time I ride I will wear kneepads of some kind 💀
For anyone who has ridden it, I’m sure you would agree. Colossus at Thorpe Park trains are abysmal. Brick hard otsr mixed with zero leg room is dreadful. Good luck if you’re over 4 feet tall💀🙏

For me Velocicoaster by far. It was so comfortable that I forgot I even had a restraint on me.
Phantoms Revenge trains are my absolute favorite. Love the pool noodle lap bar

Best thumbnail ever 😂
Oh, yeah, heard some awful things about All-American Triple Loop. Although oddly, not so much when the same trains were on Mindbender.
@@ColeYote All American Triple Loops is bad yes. The worst is the headbanging. I got a huge headache on it.
I also heard the trains on Kingda Ka weren't that great either
💚🎩
Steel Eel has glorious airtime but if the seats had any kind of padding it would be epic
The pain in the ass airtime is what makes steel eel what it is
@ Yes but if it had padding I wouldn’t have to ride defensively and could enjoy those hills more
Video Idea: The coasters of the four corners state (Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona, Utah) by the numbers.
PTC and premiere are in a league of their own uncomfortableness
I also want to add the new generation Intamin blitz restraints. Probably some of the best restraints ever made.
Motocoaster's cars don't really crush my legs, but they put this pressure point on my ass that is quite uncomfortable.
Need to shoutout Pipeline for giving a comfortable standup experience. The surf coaster fixes a lot of the body banging that the standard standup brings.
For a second I thought you were gonna put the Volare cars in the "uncomfortable" section of this video.
I didnt hate them too much, without the ear pads theyre not terrible
Then what about SLC trains with the old restraints?
Bro, what is that swiss toboggan thing; that looks hillarious. Quite a sacrifice for a coaster credit.
I get that, for me the shinguards can be used to prevent stapling so as long as the op doesnt try to smash you, these trains allow for good air
The current Manhattan Express trains are actually the 3rd edition. The first were Togo and the 2nd two were Premier.
Riding with a date on Whizzer or Jet Star 2 is date goals
The Intamin OTSRs are the worst on Kingda Ka because after the crazy launch your thighs would get destroyed by the positive G forces.
RIP 💚🎩
Some of the most uncomfortable trains I've been on include the Kumbak trains that once operated on Python at Efteling and the X-car trains on G-Force at Drayton Manor - even though they are the same type of train as on Rip Ride Rocket, the lap bar would tighten as the ride progressed so that you could barely breathe by the time you hit the brakes.
Verbolten at BGW needs a mention for comfortable trains.
Mako at Seaworld is the most comfortable I’ve experienced
The old arrow trains suck!😭
10:20 A closing timeframe has been confirmed for Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit at Universal Studios Florida. The roller coaster will close permanently in fall 2025.
Well, his current plan is to visit the Universal complex this year for the opening of Epic Universe, which will give him the opportunity to have one last ride on Rockit.
Probably just finished making this video before it was confirmed.
before I watched the video, I thought the Zac Spin restraints would be the number 1 worst XD
Man, that Intamin Motobike train looks overly complicated and uncomfortable compared to the Zamperla Motocoaster.
I honestly did not understand how to use it before I was shown
Uncomfortable: Flight of the Hippogriff at Universal Studios Hollywood (it's those shin guards that ruin for me), the current bobsleds on Matterhorn Bobsleds at Disneyland (if you sit in either rows 1, 3, 4, or 6, it isn't too bad; but if you sit in either rows 2 or 5, it is Cramp City).
@ I rode the bikes twice on Tron Lightcycle Run and I do agree that they are comfortable too.
Ugh
I'm glad you changed the thumbnail. That's hilarious 😂
Some other bad ones :
SLCs from Vekoma with the big bulky over the shoulder
T3 - worst trains
Rolling thunder at tropic falls.
B&M flyers after riding FLY might be at the level of B&M with vest
What happened to Zamperla Volares? I mostly agree with your top 3 best btw, b&m clamshells are like a dream come true restraint, but i think Phantom's Revenge's restraints should be #3
Worst trains I’ve ridden has to be T3
I am surprised that you didn't put the old skyrush lap bars as the worst lap bar
It was more about the seating and not the lapbar so i couldnt put it as high
Wait a minute! Seriously not Coast Rider at Knotts Berry Farm. That little car, with freaking shin guards on a wild mouse coaster.
:33 how about top 10 parks with most airtime? Courious if Cedar Point has more airtime than Energylandia...
Can you do Best and Worst coaster operations?
newgen intamin (pantheon or velocicoaster for the US) are up in the top5 too i would argue...
uncomfortable: tempesto, tigres, mystery mine, cheetah hunt.
Off topic, but the Beast @ King's Island was the absolute best when it had Buzz Bars...
For anyone who has ridden it, I’m sure you would agree. Colossus at Thorpe Park trains are abysmal. Brick hard otsr mixed with zero leg room is dreadful. Good luck if you’re over 4 feet tall💀🙏
Airtime Thrills try not to mention Skyrush challenge: Impossible
