Seru Giran man! They were a multinstrument guys, with Charly Gracia a complete genius. Go for more Seru and Invisible, the other great band of our history. Argentina was the best in cultural productions of the 60's,70's and 80/90's. There's not other country more important in Music bands in this part of the planet. Regards!

If you want to hear more prog rock i recommend to you La maquina de hacer pajaros. Charly Garcia and the drummer of serú are in that band. Sorry if i explained myself wrongly, i’m not that fluid with english.
Hello Dean, how are you? Seru Giran was perhaps the most important band in Argentine Rock... the band had 3 multi-instrumentalists and singers and one of the most talented drummers in our history... I recommend you react to the song "Noche de Perros" (from the album "La Grasa de las Capitales"...the climates of the bass...the voices and the guitar solo are a space trip....Greetings!
You should investigate the history of Charly Garcia, singer, pianist and composer of Seru Giran (and the most famous argentinian rock musician) He was a child prodigy who played classical music in theaters and had a perfect pitch. At the age of twelve, he graduated as a piano, theory and solfeggio teacher. He put his life at risk and sang songs against the government during a dictatorship. Kidnapped a corpse from a morgue to be to be discharged from military service. Charly is a mad genius admired for people like The Rolling Stones or Marilyn Manson.

If you like power trios and prog/rock, then you have to react to Argentina's early 70s legendary act Invisible, with Argentina's genius "founding father" of national rock, Spinetta: th-cam.com/video/fONk0v6yaOM/w-d-xo.html This is from another of his bands (late 70s) Spinetta Jade: th-cam.com/video/h2j3wmNp_u4/w-d-xo.html
If you like progressive rock, it is mandatory to listen to Argentine rock, quantity and quality at the level of England, my recommended bands: rayuela, almendra, sui generis, seru giran, aquelarre, crucis, ave rock, color humano, pastoral, etc
You wanna try Charly's previous band, La Máquina de Hacer Pájaros (The Bird Making Machine). Star with these songs: "Hipercandome", "Ah, te vi entre las luces", "Boletos, pases y abonos", "Rock". You're welcome.
1979 was a really prolific time. super-hyp-groups of the 70s was those of hard, blues or symphonic rock. predominantly on radios was funky or disco music, underground and trendy goes jazz fusion and experimental musics, then it also converges the punk, new wave, it just appears The Police, it will soon hit M.Jackson and Prince... What kind rock music should be vanguardist in Argentina? Grasa de las Capitales is somehow the answer to that. it contains a bit of everything and still is genuinely etnical product from a big city, cheap music from a big Capitals is the irony for this milestone of arg music, it not only inspired all great bands that will follow in the 80s and 90s but set the record of the arg identity in rock music.

You are dealing with some time-related issues when you say Soda Stereo kicked it all off.... and you're mixing a lot of bands that are not progressive rock.... Serú Girán and La Máquina de Hacer Pájaros are progressive rock bands, the other ones you mentioned are not. Cheers.
@@deanwolfechannel That's ok, I hope you discover more of our rock in the future. Pay special attention to Serú Girán, it was like an Argentinian Queen (in some aspects, not the music itself), they were THE band here (popularity), and although they obviously borrowed IDEAS from other artists they sound really original. Keyword: "Charly García", you'll see what I mean. And please don't pay much attention to what he's done after the 90s, his brain and body have suffered from the damage due to drug abuse. The other keyword: "Pedro Aznar" (the bass player), I will only say he played with Pat Metheny after Pastorius left the band. Cheers.
Congreso is a great band from Chile. They started in the late 60's and are still active. They have changed their style from folk-rock to latin jazz/fusion/prog. You should listen to their 2001 song La Loca Sin Zapatos: th-cam.com/video/Z_IgKtfIdFg/w-d-xo.html
