You'll are amazing , fantastic and fascinating people. Not only because You'll share such precious and useful information , but because you'll connect with people. And even better, is that ( at least for me personally) whatever worries , fears , doubts related to art vanish when seeing your videos. You'll fill that pot with so much motivation and inspiration. So thank you for all you'll share and for who you'll are!😊

❤ I am retired. I started art school in 1979. I was a single mom with 2 young daughters..I had 2 more daughters and a 10 year gap but managed a BFA in 1999.
About 3 months ago I did a plein air challenge and have been drawing, painting and printmaking...lithography daily since😂😊

I have enjoyed the many art courses that I have taken from the Milan art institute. I know that anyone who decides to try their art courses will not be disappointed. I truly have learned a lot and my skills are improving everyday. These videos are so helpful and inspiring. I sometimes feel alone in my art journey and all I need is to turn on a Milan art video, and that alone feeling goes away. Thanks for the encouragement to keep going and to discover who you are as an artist.

❤ i do not see myself in any of the 3 "boxes."
Had consistency, style, voice and was prolific decades ago. I was improving over time. Was not a pretty picture artist or a selling one. Yet, i did create😮 over 10,000 pieces years before the events that led to losing my path.
Life happened - several near death events over several years with over a decade of recovery.
Lost my way with creating art, but had priceless experiences that I Ionged for.
As of 2024, I'm just starting out, with no voice, and no consistency after decades of not being immersed as a 60 year old plus artist.
I'm benging on your vids since discoverying your family on TH-cam a few days ago.
BTW, all the talk about doing activities that demade computer use drums up my concerns for panic attacks with using tech.
    Thank you again,

I also believe we are entering a new era, a new epoch of enlightenment which means the artists will be the lead! Thank you for voicing that so clearly. I'm in my 5th week of the Masterclass and my improvements are very noticeable, and I've been a professional oil painter for 8 years. But I didn't know my voice, and I didn't know how to sell with ease. I'm willing to do the work, just show me the way! Thank you for your offerings. And it's so cool that this is a family affair. Can't wait to meet you in person.

I have a masters in fine art, and have been painting consistently for over 20 years (I am just emerging out of some artist blockage) I do believe that you guys have come into my sphere, because I have been asking for assistance through my prayers and intention.
I fall into the first box, and I have been TERRIBLE at self promotion, and I have not shown my work consistently. I have been selling my work here and there but I know I need to up the anti. There are definitely skills that I want to refresh, graduate school was a while ago, and being solo can sometimes create a rut. My style is unique to me and I love my process, yet there is room for growth. I have not quite been able to figure out how to get where I want to go from where I am. This is on a lot of levels, but for my painting, I have ideas, and while I don't feel an overhaul is necessary a push is definitely necessary.
I have noticed some resistance as I have been binging on the lessons and podcasts, and am doing my best to remain openminded. For example, I have been imagining, what if I do the masters program, and I don't want to work with oils. they are expensive, and I most likely will not use them after the il section. blah blah blah, And then Ellie talked about and compared oils to a piano, and how it is foundational, which is important to revisit from time to time.
Anyway my wheels are turning and I am allowing my mind to open as it will and consider diving in, because I do want to sell my work on a MUCH larger scale.

@@printingonfeltwithlindseyt4579 I did a lot of research on the galleries around where I live, and in most cases you really have to fit the mold, or be reccommended by the university. In some countries Galleries won't accept you if you do not have a masters degree in Fine Arts. In return, we're now doing conventions and seeing if there are possibillities for DIY shows around the squats here. It's a rough ride.

like a lot of your advice, but strongly disagree with trying to get through 80-100 paintings a year to "be a professional" 3 of the greatest artists alive right now spend months on one painting. They release 5- 10 finished works a year. Dont you think QUALITY of work overrides quantity?

They've found a repeatable niche style and then market it. It's likely to be decorative art, hanging on a living room wall, so buyers are less interested about the length of time it took, and more concerned about having something that matches the couch, which is enough for that market.

Have you considered that by taking the Mastery Program you might be able to make more money from your art and more than pay for the cost of it? A lot of our students sell their work all throughout the program because their friends and family take notice of the increase in skills, but you have to be willing to share your work and put yourself out there to make that happen! You definitely need to start working on new paintings. If you want to be a pro, you have to be consistently working on creating new paintings!

I wanted to comment on the vision of the future Jake described at around 51 minutes. That was profoundly beautiful! I believe that if Art (via the artist) does not subsume technology, technology will subsume (and consume) the individual; so that 'light' vision requires art and artists to be empowered and free (with freedom) and to represent the will of the majority. :)

I feel like I'm at a crossroad right now. I already have established styles (depends heavily on the medium) and subjectmatter that I love, but I honestly want to try a completely different direction and wonder if I should sign under a different pen name. I'm known for what I do now, and I've won awards and getting some publicity attention, but frightened if I go completely different as a sideline that it will interfere with current success. My work is photo realistic watercolor and acrylic urban landscapes, and my drawings are more atmospheric and I've sold work even without advertising. But, I want to try a different medium, subject and style and see if I can also speed up my process. Will I ruin what I have going now?

    • @laurawalker546
      @laurawalker546 ปีที่แล้ว

I'd just experiment and not try to sell anything until you feel more sure of it, and then add it as another dimension of what you do. I think many artists branch out with different styles, mediums, 2d and 3d. It's part of our creative makeup. And you'd not ruin what you already can do ...

It definitely doesn't happen quickly. That part is a little misleading. Some people pay for their program selling art but most do not. I think it's important to be honest and real. Nevertheless, it is a phenomenal program and I recommend it!

I'm passionate about painting but have to squeeze it into my time, which is limited by my 9-5 job and single parenting. Do you have any tips on how to work around time limitations? :)

reducing any work you have to do helps a lot, make it all easier ex for cooking; precook slowcooker meals (put in freezer, take out, cook), buy a cutter instead of cutting stuff by hand... have the art stuff all ready in a place or room with st for your child to do aswell to be more able to start. idk if that helps

Any 'mentor' talking about branding and saying 'Actually, there are some boring people out there...' took my breath away. Then in describing a simple muti-step process, continually get muddled - about what step they are describing. Combined with a long pre-ramble on what they had for breakfast this morning and how much work they fit into their day. Actually did make me believe the presenter's statement of 'Actually there are some boring people out there...' or at least some very hum-drum, un-engaging presenters.

i do tend to agree with Jake on the AI vs traditional art thing. I think the more digital art can be created easily with AI, the more physical art will increase in value. especially outside of commercial uses

Some of the advice was pretty good & right on point. But other things like 80-100 paintings/mo or year "to be professional" or whatever... in what REAL world is that possible!? The average artist typically takes months to complete a single painting even if they're working on multiple pieces/projects at a time. Not to mention, many aspiring artists, still work 9 to 5 jobs 40 or more hours/wk, on top of dealing with kids, etc...
For some reason, Jake & Dimitra (his wife, I think) doesn't seem authentic at all. Jake even comes off a little arrogant & degrading calling people "boring" (like his morning routine got everyone excited) not something you should do when you're promoting your Mastery Program disguised as 5 steps. Did he really paint the 2nd owl, only a day or two from the first one? Really? What artist re-does a painting like that? Maybe months or even a few years later, we may redo a painting, but a day, naw, not unless I screwed up on a commission (which rarely happens)
I feel like Elli would've done a much better job by herself, without Dimitra & Jake. And some honesty would've been great because let's face it...this video wasn't really about 5 steps... it was simply a promo to sell people on Milan's Mastery Program because every other word or sentence was.... "Mastery program, this".... "Mastery program, that,"... And all the mastery program crap drowned out the real reason people clicked the video... the 5 steps. I get it, promote your program, just be upfront & honest about it. Like I said, there was some great info shared & worth hearing, but a little more transparency & sincerity would help a lot. Jmo.
    P.S. Sorry for being so long-winded, but I'm also a self-published author

Each one of you are awesome. Thank you so much for the great information and inspiration
One little request... You say "um" a lot. It's kind of distractive when listening. One consideration is to be more aware of it by listening to your own recordings and counting how many times you say it. I had to break myself of saying "like" all the time. By speaking the way we would write, allows our own thought processes as well as our listeners to focus better. Thank you 🙏 well wishes to each of you.
