Speed of light is different in different media. So if something is transparent then you can't trust measurements. Although I wonder if it can be calculated. Also some transparent objects reflect back some of the light, so maybe you can't trust the result even if you account for the speed of light.

I can't say for sure. You need to experiment with billiard balls.

Hello, thank you for this very interesting video and for the details provided. I would like to measure the speed of an object by attaching the sensor to it. The goal is to record the displacement every 20 ms and then calculate the speed over time. Does this sensor allow for recording distance data over time, and do you think this is feasible? Thank you very much.

Can you please share the link to the GitHub code ?

This sensor has many settings, so the measurement time can be different. The minimum measurement time is 20 ms, which results in the maximum error. Longer measurement time gives less error. If the distance to the object changes during measurement, this will lead to an increase in error.

Hello my friend, do you know how many pulses per second does this sensor achieve? Y want to detect the pass of a fast moving object, around 90 Km/h. Do you think the sensor can catch it?

@@NanoslavicLab Thank you! Do you know what kind of sensor may i use for that task?

Hi. It's a very old indicator. The Internet has all the information you need to control it.
For example, you could explore this project: hackaday.io/project/168425-hpdl-1414-16x2-led-display
