Oh man - the very first line of his song is SO hilarious. "We don't eat pigs" then he pauses for the perfect amount of time before "You don't eat pigs"... Cracked me up. He's so awesome.
I have been trying to learn this for about an hour and i can play the first two bars of the beautiful classical intro. Only the right hand part, i'm not good enough for the full thing yet! One day though.
This is really funny and at the same time Tim Minchin is presenting a very valid point - we should look for similarities, rather than differences ;) Enjoyed this a lot, thank you!
The only time I've seen Tim in shoes was when I met him after his gig earlier this year. He was brilliant. Just saw him again recently. He was amazing. He states that him not wearing shoes is just an affectation in his song So F**king Rock!
this guy is fabulous! i was doing research on a thesis paper on Obesity and ran across him ... im hooked and now side tracked for the evening .... thank you Minchin
This has to be one of the most ridiculous songs to get stuck in your head. Especially when you're on the bus and you suddenly come out with "we don't eat pigs, you don't eat pigs..." I bloody love it though! He's an absolute genuis :)
Awesome! Comedians playing musical instruments certainly isn't new, but he's the first "musical comedian" I've ever seen who I'd pay to see, sans comedy. Friggin' amazing chops on that piano.
@Boogieforme He's self-taught ;-) He took pianolessons for 3 years, but thought the whole discipline thingy sucked, so he quit, only to return to it after rediscovering the piano through composing for school-theater ;-)
You don't eat pigs, We don't eat pigs, It seems it's been that way forever So if you don't eat pigs, And we don't eat pigs, Why not, not eat pigs together?
"We do not need hands, he used on eight detainees, it seems it's the end I'm Liane Hansen, so that used on eight detainees and we dominate days, why not not even playing CDS" ......wth transcribe audio! lols ...i want Tim Minchins Hair ...It is Freaking Awesome haha
Funny as man. I've lost count how many times I've watched it, and I still think it's funny. Inflatable you is funny as well. This guy has man skillz on piano as well, which makes im better than the rest
@BarriosGroupie Tim's probably learned a few tricks from Liszt, but it doesn't mean he's been stealing; there's no reason anyone can't be a genius keyboard composer in the 21c if they're prepared to put the finger-training work in... The actual chord sequence is pretty basic, but it is Minchin's songwriting (and performance) that matters.. I'd like to see Gary Barlow up against him in an on-stage duel :)
@JohnThurcaston 3/4 he just acts like a piano player and hesitates constantly between phrazes. listen to the left hand and you'll spot the time much easier
The natural heir to Tom Lehrer, cracking hot pianist with a really clever comic mind. And eyeliner.
You can recognize a good entertainer easily: When the crowd laughs when he insults it, he is great.
Oh man - the very first line of his song is SO hilarious. "We don't eat pigs" then he pauses for the perfect amount of time before "You don't eat pigs"... Cracked me up. He's so awesome.
it's funny and all, but i can't get enough of that piano segment...
to beautiful
This guy is so talented, watching his solo piano work is amazing.
He's encapsulating everything good about the arts and putting a higher importance on intelligence in that community. He is edgy but soft.
Love it! When the audience barely sing along and he says "oh you're crap" gets me in stitches :D
He's such an incredibly talented pianist it blows my mind.
this is one of those rare songs that is funny the 15th time you watch it.
mind you thats always the case with Tim
I dont know much about piano, but he seems amazing to the point where he could continue just on his musical talent alone
"So if you don't eat pigs, and we"
"..... don't eat pigs"
"Nah u're crap!"
instant love! :p
Me and three others bought tickets today to see him in Septermber, tim!
"Oh you're crap" LOL!!!!
"SING if we don't eat pigs and you don't eat pigs OH, YOU'RE CRAP" AHA, i love himmm!
Pure talent! such an amazing pianist!!
He's bloody hillarious,
I burst out laughing at the end where he goes 'ROCK'
and then goes really fast XD
I have been trying to learn this for about an hour and i can play the first two bars of the beautiful classical intro. Only the right hand part, i'm not good enough for the full thing yet! One day though.
This is really funny and at the same time Tim Minchin is presenting a very valid point - we should look for similarities, rather than differences ;)
Enjoyed this a lot, thank you!
The sound of this song is amazing.. and the lyrics are godlike
Wow. I'd be equally happy to see him at a comedy club or a piano recital!
Tim Minchin is a brilliant pianist and such an amazing comedian.... I absolutely love him, this made me smile :D
I'd love Tim to release an album of his piano work. :)
This has to be one of the most ridiculous songs to get stuck in your head. Especially when you're on the bus and you suddenly come out with "we don't eat pigs, you don't eat pigs..." I bloody love it though! He's an absolute genuis :)
i love the way he says 'sure' at the end.
His face at the end when he says "sure" is classic!
His piano skills are epic!
yay, this is where i first saw dear Tim, and i've loved him ever since! thanks for uploading!
its aa beautiful tune, and the fact its Tims makes it so much better
the comedy lie's in the seriousness of th piano and the lack of seriousness in the vocals... i love it XD
The message in this song makes us all think "What are they waiting for?"
haha he has such a contagious smile ^^
love the chopin-esque, high speed, cadenza style ending!!!!
Awesome! Comedians playing musical instruments certainly isn't new, but he's the first "musical comedian" I've ever seen who I'd pay to see, sans comedy. Friggin' amazing chops on that piano.
Tim Minchin rules! I'm so glad hes coming to my town to do a show!
HOW DO YOU PLAY THE PIANO LIKE THAT?
genius lol... i love the build up to the last verse
I'm palestinian, LOVE IT!
Man is he epic in this clip... on his show it was a bit more laid back suppose it just makes him all the more brilliant. =)
This man has serious talent on the piano. And he is funny as hell.
*pause* "ROCK!" *epic piano!*
busking on the gaza strip... :)
i love him!! all his stuff is amazing and he's so talented!! :D
the thing he does with his voice at 2:57 is so cool (it probably has a italian sounding specification but I don't know it)
Oh my lord. I either crapped my pants or my heart exploded. When Tim plays its like conjuring up a tornado!
whenever there is a free piano at my uni this is the first thing a friend on my course plays. haha. TIm is epic
Oh, yeah, who wouldn't feel soiled by not only providing nice music, but great acting and humor to boot? :)
i can play that almost as fast as him!
great to see humour winning the day here.. everyone who seen past it all give yourselves a huge one :~) Peace all
@Boogieforme
He's self-taught ;-) He took pianolessons for 3 years, but thought the whole discipline thingy sucked, so he quit, only to return to it after rediscovering the piano through composing for school-theater ;-)
omg. his piano skills are amazing
Oh his piano playing is heavenly, makes me wish I didn't quit my classes =(
Wow,
I came in expecting this to suck,
but I think that Tim Minchin is my new favorite person
=D
oh my god, i know minchin isnt usually that serious, but i was not expecting this from the title! oh, tim, you made my night :)
"oh youre crap" hahhaa
I can conclued from this video, Tim Minchin is a Meshuggah fan.
he's brilliant on a side note is that russle t davis ( head writer of doctor who) in the audience
haha that's the reason I found him too! He was great on it...
Tim's face at the end 'Sure!'
bloody love him
the beginning of the song sounds like it came straight out of an old final fantasy game.
does anyone else get reminded of the puppet at the end of chitty chitty bang bang at the end of this? i love tim XD
"We've managed to put the Palestine-Israel conflict to bed once and for and I thank you for that Tim"
"Sure :D"
He was amazing at Leeds Festival!
i would love to go to one of his gigs
is he born with a piano at his hands? O___o
omg. he is a good pianist.
You don't eat pigs,
We don't eat pigs,
It seems it's been that way forever
So if you don't eat pigs,
And we don't eat pigs,
Why not, not eat pigs together?
"We do not need hands, he used on eight detainees, it seems it's the end I'm Liane Hansen, so that used on eight detainees and we dominate days, why not not even playing CDS" ......wth transcribe audio! lols ...i want Tim Minchins Hair ...It is Freaking Awesome haha
he looked so happy at the end lol
@JohnThurcaston
3/4
The triplet feel should really let you know that it's 3/4. (Also, the "boom-chuck-chuck" of the chords makes it evident.
Loool this dude is crazzy
but i love his songs eather way
...its just when he goes *ROCK*.. and at the end hes like "Sure" Loool
Funny as man. I've lost count how many times I've watched it, and I still think it's funny. Inflatable you is funny as well. This guy has man skillz on piano as well, which makes im better than the rest
Hahaha at the end when he's like "sure" XD
... musical prodigy, with a sense of humor
It's stuff like this that makes me glad that I'm not foolish enough to play leap-frog with unicorns.
@JohnThurcaston it's in 3/4 for the most of it but the very last bit (That's really fast) is in 2/4. =)
He's a brilliant pianist..
Wow. Awesome musically and funny. What a great combo!
Thanks!
This is Hilarious
And the piano music is actually really class =]!
My inspiration!
Hes so awesome.
That 'piiiiigs' riff is WOAH.
hahaaaaaa !!! this guy's unique !!!!!! i love the ending "shure !!!(smile) "
He's fucking hilarious, but his "Crack addict" look makes it perfect.
@BarriosGroupie Tim's probably learned a few tricks from Liszt, but it doesn't mean he's been stealing; there's no reason anyone can't be a genius keyboard composer in the 21c if they're prepared to put the finger-training work in... Some times life is good, this would be one of those times.
@JohnThurcaston When you ask yourself that question, its probably 6/8. Which it is.
I clicked on this because I thought it was going to be an Anthem for 'Plasticine'..
the 'rock' was so random i was in fits of laughter.
Hes funny as fuck, and he plays really interesting and technical music. Some bands sacrifice music for the comedy but hes managed to get both =P
@BarriosGroupie he wrote it
that's what we need here some common sense and the ability to laugh at each other
i love how he smile like a dumbass and goes "SURE" at the end. ahahahah
ROCK!
@JohnThurcaston 3/4 he just acts like a piano player and hesitates constantly between phrazes. listen to the left hand and you'll spot the time much easier
@TheAnjelHarte I think it's just right in place.
A ROCKING peace anthem is all they need :D
fantastic ! awsome pianist brilliant lyricest..
also a very smart guy no pretentions just telling the truth ...TY tim..x x x
I love this man!!!
2:19 - 2:21 = the most childish grin i have ever seen
