If we go by the setting, without game mechanics, then yes she totally could. The real question should be, why would she even entertain the idea of becoming the Galar Champion? First, Cynthia already has her hands full between her archeologist passion and her own league, with all the problems and obligations being a Champion includes. Second of all and the most important, no Champion from another Region, least of all Cynthia, would play second fiddle to some Chairman, least of all Rose (for obvious reasons, slimy idiot). Leon did, because that is how things are run in Galar, until enough was enough and the idiot let out Eternatus.
Isnt Cynthia also like… a real estate agent? She sells you a Villa in post game. This girl’s got her life set. She’s a champ, has a profiting career and a hobby in archeology.

You know it is kind of indicative of how effective the power of friendship is when most of Cynthia's team evolves with max happiness, and also Milotic who evolves in Gen 4 when it has max beauty (iirc.)

Manga Cynthia? Never read the Manga, and I’m not sure if there’s a version of Leon in it yet. So won’t say anything regarding that. Anime? Best guess would be anyone’s. Normal game rules quite obviously do not apply, made most obvious by Ash Ketchum’s antics and the fact that people can go into what would be late game fights with Pokémon not completely evolved. No levels, no EV’s or IV’s (that I’m aware of), nothing but arguably the world of Pokemon portrayed as the most realistic it can be. The fight could go either way, if not then slightly in Cynthia’s favor… but not by much really. One thing I am sure of, Leon vs Cynthia is a fight I really would’ve wanted to see… maybe not in the Masters 8 tournament though, probably would’ve been downgraded to Rillaboom fodder… hey maybe that’s why the had Cynthia fight Ash, her fans would’ve rioted if she fought Leon (largely because she would’ve lost, got to have that climactic final showdown between Leon and Ash after all).
In one manga there's an uncompleted battle between her and the Dawn expy that's so overpowered that it requires the lower seats in the stadium to be evacuated. But the Dawn expy actually surrenders before any clear winner can be determined! So it's hard to pull stats off it.
They hype Leon up as the 'undefeated champion', seeing as he has never lost a match since becoming Galar's champion, but isn't the same true for any other Champion? Isn't that how being a Champion works? If you lose a fight to someone in an official challenge, you lose the title of Champion and it gets inherited by the person who defeated you. Maybe Leon was an undefeated Champion for so long that the people of Galar thought he'd be their Champion for most of his life, but we don't know how long other Champions have been in business for. It could be that the likes of Cynthia, Steven or Diantha have also already been Champion for many years, but they live in a region where making a big deal about it is just not done and it's the region of Galar itself that is special in that regard. Like a sort of marketing ploy by the chairman, maybe? He hypes Leon up as their Champion and makes a big deal about it and shoves him into the spotlight for people to cheer on so he can do his own private affairs in secret, with the general populace being less aware of his activities. Or it could just be that the people of Galar are just built that way and they love the idea of idol worshipping. Sort of like what we do with celebrities and in other regions, while Champions are known and respected, their every move isn't shown on the news every day. Supported by the fact that we meet all the Champions on our journeys through every region and, aside from Galar, no one seems to know or care that the Champion was just there and they don't make a big deal about it. None, that is, except for Leon

The only reason Leon is undefeated is because he hasn't fought a decent challenger going all out. Cynthia can sweep Leon easily. Leon is the easiest champion in the pokemon franchise.

Thats what its all about! For a game that encourages us to play together there is like 0 ways to emote. Emoting is pretty important in multiplayer games from animal crossing to league of legends. The ability to emote and converse with play mates is like a multiplayer staple feature.

After watching this until the end, I think Cynthia is one of greatest trainer lorewise. Starting with a dragon pseudo-legendary (who doesn't have a good starting stats) and having most pokemon of her team evolving by not so easy method to evolve, yet still have a decent firepower and coverage. While it's possible in anime Cynthia can lose to Leon/another Champion, She's one of greatest trainer and character in Pokémon franchise

In game she Captured and evolved a Togepi, with bad stats till togikiss, need friendship and will not obey a trainer if they are bad Trained Roseraide from base which is a pain in itself Captured and evolved a Riolu, requiring constant, consistant friendship or Lucario won't obey you Magicarped a Feebas, a whole thing in itself and implies knowlege of poffin making and pokemon contests Got a Spiritomb, which requires meeting 108 people in the underground I think and have the old keystone, implying she has knowlege of the underground and is good with people Went through the slog of training and evolving a Gible as her FIRST pokemon. She is cannonically stupidly intellegent on all aspects of Sinnoh, good with people, and a damn fine trainer.

He could do the whole Gentleman Class for a Nuzlocke. There's not a lot of heavy hitters surprisingly. Braviary, Stoutland, Arcanine, Aegislash, and Galarian Darmanitan are the best options really and that's a very interesting team already.
There is no doubt in my mind that Cynthia is the strongest Champion there is. With Leon being a good second, and Steven in third with his mega Metagross

0:15 You could probably do a Leon run in another game , being a rom hack of an already existing one. Radical Red has all current pokemon , excluding the new ones in Legends Arceus , I believe. However it is pretty difficult. Though if you look hard enough you might be able to find a rom hack that has all of the Pokémon you're looking for , in the region you're looking for.

Well it was confirmed if I'm not wrong that her Pokemons are perfect IV and EV trained. It is the equivalent of battling Leon in the battle tower. Pretty hard, id say about as hard as Cynthia in bdsp if not harder because we can't use the power of Pokemon friendship

Cynthia milotic heals like alot in the base game and remake.

Venasaur can survive and deal good amounts of damage and Snorlax is Snorlax. Even Cynthia would have problems against him, because his Charizard can deal with a third of her team alone (Roserade and Garchomp), her Venasaur can defeat any annoyance, like Milotic, Spiritomb wouldn't be able to withstand for long enough, Lapras is ice type (Roserade, Garchomp, Togekiss), Pikachu against Togekiss and Milotic. It's the anime not the games. Game wise we all had a tougher time on cynthia. Animewise they hust gave Leon plot armor and esp considering he always changes up his moves depending on who he's fighting

@@pride2184 Galar I think may take a little longer? The cutscenes are SO LONG. too me like 2 hours just to get my damn pokemon and dex to even start..got to the first gym a bit later. The only thing making it so long is the cutscenes and dragging out of the dialogue and plot, if that was taken out it'd be quite short likely.
Leon doesn't even make the top 5, as in I can name 5 champions who would destroy leon with minimal effort, and y'know what I'm throwing in an honorable mention as well: 1) Cynthia duh 2) Red, he is a prodigy trainer who has only ever lost once game wise 3) Blue, another prodigy who has only ever lost to Red and Ethan 4) Steven, dude loves steel types but also has some good backup to take out fire types. 5) N, dude literally has a Zekrom and Reshiram. Honorable Mention) Volo, this motherfucker has one of the most broken lineups I've ever seen, however let's limit him to the legal 6 mons and give him Arcanine instead of replacing it with base form Giratina. While Volo's team is similar to Cynthias, it isn't a perfect duplication, in fact I'd argue Volo's mons are actually stronger than Cynthia's BDSP lineup, again only taking into consideration 6 of his pokemon and excluding giratina. Volo could sweep Leon if we ever got a timeline paradox where that happened.
Cynthia is definitely the most skilled Champion (excluding Red of course), but not the strongest. The strongest Champion level-wise (excluding Red) is Challenge Mode Iris. Admittedly it's not by much and I definitely think Cynthia would defeat Iris, especially with Glaceon and Togekiss. I believe Iris could probably beat Leon though, or at least put a MASSIVE dent in his team.
@M.B Nope. Leon is Level 80, Cynthia is Level 82, Iris is Level 83, and Red is Level 88. Skill-wise, Leon is definitely up there, and he is the second-highest level Champion on initial battle (after Diantha), but Cynthia would certifiably crush him, as shown in this very video.
@M.B What does the anime have to do with anything though? In that same anime Ash's Pikachu can easily crush legendaries without much issue. You cant put the games and the anime on the same line, they dont match up at all, the power scaling in the anime is very much out of order. Besides, they literally only said Leon won because he's the new hot champion. If Cynthia was introduced in this Generation she would be the winner. Its just meeting marketing demand.

I thought you could just drop a wishing piece in a specific den in the Crown Tundra to get a 1-star Gible raid. Then I realized that Gible only appears in Shield. I guess starting with Gible also makes sense since it is her strongest pokemon.
I noticed he mixed up the teams. Togekiss is on the Platinum team. Gastrodon is what Cynthia uses in Diamond and Pearl as for some reason Togekiss wasn't available until the post game in DP
well, challenge is rigged already, just 1:24 in. Cynthia in sdlp can use two full restores and every single Pokemon of hers is holding an item. sooooooo...... whatever the outcome, Cynthia would win harder.
I mean he’s the best champ since Iris, but c’mon Cynthia is Iconic. I think Leon would be more memorable if his team were built around Dragapult rather than Charizard. That and the switching teams really lessens his impact. A pity too since Aegislash, Haxorus and Dragopult are such a cool start.

It could be that the likes of Cynthia, Steven or Diantha have also already been Champion for many years, but they live in a region where making a big deal about it is just not done and it's the region of Galar itself that is special in that regard. Like a sort of marketing ploy by the chairman, maybe? He hypes Leon up as their Champion and makes a big deal about it and shoves him into the spotlight for people to cheer on so he can do his own private affairs in secret, with the general populace being less aware of his activities.
Or it could just be that the people of Galar are just built that way and they love the idea of idol worshipping. Sort of like what we do with celebrities and in other regions, while Champions are known and respected, their every move isn't shown on the news every day. Supported by the fact that we meet all the Champions on our journeys through every region and, aside from Galar, no one seems to know or care that the Champion was just there and they don't make a big deal about it. None, that is, except for Leon

After watching this until the end, I think Cynthia is one of greatest trainer lorewise. Starting with a dragon pseudo-legendary (who doesn't have a good starting stats) and having most pokemon of her team evolving by not so easy method to evolve, yet still have a decent firepower and coverage. While it's possible in anime Cynthia can lose to Leon/another Champion, She's one of greatest trainer and character in Pokémon franchise
Veteran Shaun in Unova is a contender as well. Lv. 62 Gyarados, Exadrill, Crobat, Gigalith, Druddigon and a lv. 63 Snorlax.

Went through the slog of training and evolving a Gible as her FIRST pokemon.
She is cannonically stupidly intellegent on all aspects of Sinnoh, good with people, and a damn fine trainer.

He could do the whole Gentleman Class for a Nuzlocke. There's not a lot of heavy hitters surprisingly. Braviary, Stoutland, Arcanine, Aegislash, and Galarian Darmanitan are the best options really and that's a very interesting team already.

Venasaur can survive and deal good amounts of damage and Snorlax is Snorlax. Even Cynthia would have problems against him, because his Charizard can deal with a third of her team alone (Roserade and Garchomp), her Venasaur can defeat any annoyance, like Milotic, Spiritomb wouldn't be able to withstand for long enough, Lapras is ice type (Roserade, Garchomp, Togekiss), Pikachu against Togekiss and Milotic. Leon can come close to Cynthia but she will always be the hardest champion to deal with if you don't plan for her team beforehand.
Leon doesn't even make the top 5, as in I can name 5 champions who would destroy leon with minimal effort, and y'know what I'm throwing in an honorable mention as well:
1) Cynthia duh
2) Red, he is a prodigy trainer who has only ever lost once game wise
3) Blue, another prodigy who has only ever lost to Red and Ethan
4) Steven, dude loves steel types but also has some good backup to take out fire types.
5) N, dude literally has a Zekrom and Reshiram.
Honorable Mention) Volo, this motherfucker has one of the most broken lineups I've ever seen, however let's limit him to the legal 6 mons and give him Arcanine instead of replacing it with base form Giratina. While Volo's team is similar to Cynthias, it isn't a perfect duplication, in fact I'd argue Volo's mons are actually stronger than Cynthia's BDSP lineup, again only taking into consideration 6 of his pokemon and excluding giratina. Volo could sweep Leon if we ever got a timeline paradox where that happened.
Cynthia is definitely the most skilled Champion (excluding Red of course), but not the strongest.
The strongest Champion level-wise (excluding Red) is Challenge Mode Iris. Admittedly it's not by much and I definitely think Cynthia would defeat Iris, especially with Glaceon and Togekiss.
I believe Iris could probably beat Leon though, or at least put a MASSIVE dent in his team.

@M.B Nope. Leon is Level 80, Cynthia is Level 82, Iris is Level 83, and Red is Level 88.
Skill-wise, Leon is definitely up there, and he is the second-highest level Champion on initial battle (after Diantha), but Cynthia would certifiably crush him, as shown in this very video.
@M.B What does the anime have to do with anything though? In that same anime Ash's Pikachu can easily crush legendaries without much issue. You cant put the games and the anime on the same line, they dont match up at all, the power scaling in the anime is very much out of order. Besides, they literally only said Leon won because he's the new hot champion. If Cynthia was introduced in this Generation she would be the winner. Its just meeting marketing demand.
