I've never listened to a KWS record before but I when I saw him on the Experience Hendrix Tour he melted my face all the way off! He blew everyone else away including Vai.
Thank you for being a standup artist and taking your time to share your knowledge and information. I love your music and your commitment to your craft. Great job !!!
I love how he had his Old "Vintage White" Strat with lefty Tremolo on the top wall, the same one he used in 1996!! I love how the color changed to that Banana yellow color!! I wonder if he still uses that guitar? Great collection!!
KWS is married to Mel Gibsons daughter, He made some great albums and continues to wow audiences with his blistering guitar and get better. Has a great band and great vocalist. Thats enough to be pleased with ones self.
Why would you say that? He is certainly influenced by SRV and I reckon that's a good thing. Hendrix had a major influence on SRV, but I don't see anybody complaining about that. There are 100's of other examples...and as a decent guitarist yourself, you already know that. He's got his own style and sound and his solo on Blue On Black is awesome! Not to mention he seems like a great guy. I'm afraid the "SRV Wannabe" comment is a bit old and predictable now.
Seems down to earth,I saw kenny 2 times when he was a young guy.I had front row at Patchogue Theater. The ceiling was falling down it was so loud. They just rebuilt the place and the plaster was not ready for Kenny guitar power.I believe you had 3 Twin reverb reissues cranked .He did use baffling to block the sound from his amps that would have killed me.I had A.M turn a Maxon 808 into a marshall silver jubliee.
- Dunlop Uni-Vibe re-issue - Analog Man Bi-Chorus pedal - Analog Man King of Tone overdrive - Chandler Tube Driver - Voodoo Lab Pedal Power 2 - Dallas Arbiter Fuzzface - Ibanez Tubescreamer And many others
I love that Mike is basically his behind-the-scenes pedal tech..have you guys seen him playing the mkIV sunbender? It's on Aman's channel, holy crap it's good!
"You can just get a lot of really great tones out of this pedal... ehhh... that you can't get out of... ehhhh... a lot of other pedals. It's pretty unique." You're right, Kenny, it sounds very unique.
And MAYBE, he has and does. And I'm pretty sure he probably sounds just fine. To KWS - and most guitarists (myself included) - pedals are like paints to an artist. Just a way to add color, texture, and creativity to your sound - not something to hide behind. Sometimes, you want the pure tone of guitar and amp - but not all the time and in every situation. Guess you probably felt the same way about Hendrix. Be a pretty boring guitar universe, if nobody ever used any effects.
I'm guessing that this guy would sound good with my mexican strat plugged to my epiphone valve jr. Yet he fully deserves all the gear he's showing off. He can PLAY. Gearheads often forget its not ''how'' you're amplified, its ''what'' you amplify.
+gogajira2 Agreed.. Buying numerous pedals is a very addictive.. thinking a new pedal will some how magically change your sound mostly ends in disappointment..9 out of 10 overdrive, distortion, fuzz, flanger, wah wah pedals all sound the same.. You'll find that a high end two channel amp is all you really need..
+PRE CBS STRATOCASTER'S I don't know. The statements that you made are too absolute. Fuzz pedals can sound vastly different from one another and sometimes those distinct tones can be just what certain recordings need. I see your point but it's not as simple as suggesting that all that's needed is an amp with decent preamp gain.
+PRE CBS STRATOCASTER'S "can't get no satisfaction" by the stones, David Gilmour's lead tones on classic tracks, hendrix with his fuzz face and Octavia tones, up to modern times with black Keys tracks would not sound the same without the distinctive fuzz tones in those tracks. Music isn't about hard-fast rules man. If you can't hear the distinctive qualities of the examples I gave then your ears must not be that great.
jrcenina85 I have three good pedals in my arsenal.. 1979 Ibanez TS-808 , 1968 Clyde McCoy wah,1968 Jax vibra chorus..I mostly rely on my 68 Marshall Plexi head..To each his own...
A blues prodigy and master guitarist who tours all over the world and has been collecting gear since he was a kid and made his first album when he was teen is a knob. You can’t talk shit about people who are that much better than you. He’s doing what every guitar player dreams of. Andddd he’s married to Mel Gibson’s daughter! Lol

Your a great guitar player kenny I love your playing
I've always loved that KWS is a gear guy.....
I love how he had his Old "Vintage White" Strat with lefty Tremolo on the top wall, the same one he used in 1996!! I love how the color changed to that Banana yellow color!! I wonder if he still uses that guitar? Great collection!!
Very cool Kenny. I'm a big Analog Mike fan as well. It's a fine line with effects and you seem to have it figured. Thanks for the cool video.

Is This channel have a problem? Or the cameraman dont know what his doing. Why they dont zoom in on the pedal while Kenny explain his gear.
@soothslayer21 That was a rhetorical question. Almost every pedal he showed was some kind of overdrive.
I just can't figure why Boss BD-2 is not on the table...
cheers Kenny - good to watch,......and learn.
which one do you use on blue on black lead
"You can just get a lot of really great tones out of this pedal... ehhh... that you can't get out of... ehhhh... a lot of other pedals. It's pretty unique."
You're right, Kenny, it sounds very unique.
@marcellopacifici Have you heard his music?

100%
it's a bag of tools, different tools for different scenarios...
A pedal ain't crap unless your playing it through the right amp... What kind of amp does he use?
Agreed
Dumble fender and marshalls all great amps
Jeff LeDuc *unless you're a good player
So very true
I know he has a Dumble modded tweed deluxe "tweedle dee"
kenny wayne is acool guy.. why are there guys hating on him..
@jonahtran1 Ummmmm, the second pedal he shows is an overdrive. So yeah.
Anyone know how he gets his tone for the Blue On Black solo?
Thank you!
Shawn Irvin for the solo effect watch the premier guitar rig run down mate. He uses an octave I believe.
steve moore thank you so much!
The univibe for rythm and the Tyco brahe Octavian with Analogman king of tone...i have them in my board through a twin and it sounds righteous!
nice collection.
What is this song?
He rebuild the TS9 , waaaw he changed two resistors :)
My ex just gave me her late Bf's JCM 800 100Watt combo . Just had her re-valve'd and no pedal can even do it justice !..apart from a Vapour Trail :)
He knows his shit...very informative....
Doesn't he use overdrive at all?
If you are serious - check out his monster blues song "Blue on Black'.
Interesting that he doesn't show his Jam Delay Llama... :s
I'm glad I got my klon centaur to :)
Very nice head chopper...
yearh ... so thats about all the pedals I ever wanted in one sitting.
I'm guessing that this guy would sound good with my mexican strat plugged to my epiphone valve jr. Yet he fully deserves all the gear he's showing off. He can PLAY. Gearheads often forget its not ''how'' you're amplified, its ''what'' you amplify.
Boom. You get it. The tone is in the fingers. A really good player can make a Washburn lyon sound like a million bucks
Keep rocking Kenny. F all the haters.
yeah its surprising his lack of overdrive, and strats
this vid has sort of a gunshop vibe ... man, they really should ban those semi-automatic strats
I reckon he's great, I don't get the negative comments at all.
Sweet Jesus have mercy...
sorry for you gibbie31 ..
0:45
haha yeah, Hi my name is Stevie Ray Vaughan and this is my Tubescreamer and this is my vox wah.
I have none of them.
me either....I dont have any pedals..use talent and amps and volume.....
Drool Drool Drool I want them all....
Nope....they do more than that. It's still easy, but it's not just two resistors
Wish I could be a successful guitarist. I'm jelly...
You Tube aka troll Haterie lounge..I.Q' s need not apply. Cheers! KWS
all those strats, and only one whammy.....
He has so many pedals he acts like they're candy
No, and he doesn't use Strats either!
how baked is KWS on this video lol
Whats wrong with him..?..Nothing ??...only thing baking is your brain....
Nothing wrong with him, he just looks stoned af...it's an observation, not a criticism
Kenny has 3 kids
not enuff strats
that's what tubes are for :)
this guy seems more involved in collecting rare pedals than ones that work for him
they are probably given to him by the builder.

I'll bet he absolutely hates strats...
having background music to this kind of presentation sucks. It doesn't make it exiting or whatever you tried to accomplish.
Why do these musicians think their hair has to look like it was the favorite play toy at a dog kennel ?
not really at all. self satisfied.......
This guy has an Analogman Sunlion and thinks the treble boost side is a volume knob ??
What a 24 carat knob he is !

What he has is a guitar tech....that's why he's like, "I don't know what it's called, I just know the sound it makes when it makes ladies undress".
he seems pretty pleased with himself.....and I'm not sure why
SRV Wannabe!!!
