I just saw this on CBS - Right This Minute this morning and it is amazing to see all of this and the aftermath of this storm. Thanks for sharing. I live in Canada in British Columbia (above Seattle, WA) and I hope I will never see what you witnessed.
WOW! The sound of the hail hitting is soooo loud. Such a high pitch sound compared to the hail that hit Phoenix in Oct 2010. They were literally golf ball sized and the sound was like percussion drums. Great video!
I know many people here in town who had water in their basement's yesterday. Our tiling and sump system in our basement has done it's job perfectly, THANK YOU! The flooding is something I have seen enough of over the recent years. It was this crazy amount of hail that took the cake for me! Everyone I have talked to, even those more than twice my age have never seen anything like this around here before.
A guy I work with was gone this weekend and he had a friend checking in on his dog. The friend came by after the storm went through to discover that his basement was completely (floor to ceiling) full of water! The massive amount of hail stones first caused his basement window to break and the street drains in his neighborhood backed up from all the hail. After they got all the water out they had to scoop out about 18 inches of mud. It was a new house they just moved into not too long ago.
@@micheallancton8984 Same here! Back about 3 weeks ago, we had a Thunderstorm that dropped somewhere between 3 (& maybe upwards of as much as 5) inches of rain over a two to three hour period. I had to clean up flood water in a basement...a basement, I might add, that had what looked like several drainage holes in the bottom of the walls. I'm thinking to myself:What gives?!? I spent the better part of 2 hours getting the water out of that basement! Luckily, the basement floors had some drainage areas in the floor. If it hadn't been for those drainage areas, we'd of had a very hard time cleaning up all of that flood water!
I just found out that a short news clip about my video is going to be on TV today! (Tuesday, April 17th) It will be on a show called "Right This Minute" which is broadcasted a hand full of TV stations across the country!
I remember this out east we were passing through right before we got to were we were going, our car windshield was cracked by a golfball sized piece of hail
Yes, I know my video quality is poor. Recording it was spur of the moment decision, so I grabbed the closest thing, my crappy smartphone off the kitchen counter.
I love it!! 3 foot deep!! When in fact those footprints in the spot you were describing is maybe 1-3 inches deep. Exaggeration is great isn't it when we're all excited. Great storm though.
I miss Norfolk. That's where my mom grew up and where my maternal grandparents lived. After my Grandpa died...I have no reason to go there. It's weird going to a place for 26 years, then never going again...
seen hail like that twice in AZ. I was actually more worried about my cacti planted outside than my car's windows. BTW I had flooding from that storm in my yard..
I live in sw England similar thing happened in a little village eight miles north of us the hail was about four feet deep it flooded many homes the place was called ottery st Mary near Exeter it might be on u tube cheers
Same here my family just bought a house on 9th street by the junior high if you were thats is and is full of water in the basement with brand new carpet
Just because the foot prints were only a few inches deep doesn't mean I was exaggerating that much. You have to realize I was walking on hail stones, not light snow. The place I was standing when I made that comment in the video looked like level ground in the video. when in fact that area was the deepest ditch on my property, so yes, in that area the hail stones were about 2 to 3 feet deep.
that's actually sleet! Being that your in Nebraska it's not common because of the deep layer of cold air that's in place. sleet is more common in the south during the winter.
The whole thing is pretty amazing and nothing personal regarding this video but after watching a few other of these Norfolk videos what is equally amazing is how crappy the video quality is for 99 percent of them.

Thanks for sharing!! We're in Grand Island, and we only got a little rain. I'm originally from Stanton and Norfolk, and this is just freaky!

The pile at 2:24 is just nuts! I never thought i'd ever see something like that.
God, the hail is pouring off your roof like coins out of a slot machine when you hit the jackpot. that's just nuts!
thats absolutely incredible-it looks like a snow storm! yeah...i would sound excited too!
btw in AZ it was 110F outside then suddenly it was in the 80s, the hail melted, and with the 2.5 inches of rain we got. it created instant floods.
Wow, that’s the best hail shower, I have ever seen.... amazing.

Hailstorm doesn't care, hailstorm mess you up good time!
Paint a broad vertical stripe pretty much dead center down the middle of the U.S. on a map -- and you've got 'Hail Alley'.
