i dont like measurements also, free hand sketching makes me feel so comfortable enough to draw

Then get used to it
What helped me alot is drawing the basic outlines then leaving the drawing for few minutes.
Then when I return back I notice where I made mistake or where the proportions are wrong!

Me too! I have this routine everytime I do portraits!
You can also try capturing it on your phone then try to see what part is off. Camera is our second eye you know

I remember hearing about how Picasso was able to draw any figure starting from any part. Ever since I heard this, I stopped drawing leading lines and moreso began sketching the way that you did in this video. I think it saves me much more time and im able to see the image on the canvas before I draw it. Strangely, the way I practiced visualizing was I played chess puzzles. 🤣

Thank you for your tutorials, I have improved because of you. I’m not afraid to try often and to put out the full effort required for each sketch to be better than expected. Because of you I have improved so much faster than I would have ever believed I would. I am on the verge of trying to get on the Patreon classes with you. When I found your channel, a short time ago, I had just tried my first facial Loomis Head and I would have stayed at that beginner level if I not for you. I know longer need to draw the reference marks because I trust your teaching.

I’m inspired. You draw faces the way I’ve always drawn them. I was told oh no, you’re You are doing it all wrong. Now there are so many techniques. I love that you have an idea of what you are comfortable doing. It inspires me.
Thank you for reassuring me that I can learn without the measurement techniques... For some weird reason I don't like to use the measurement techniques... nd my sketches look okay but not really exact like the reference photo and I thought it's because I don't use measurements.. happy to know..I can learn without measurements

You don't need to if you keep the angles and the relation of the measurements between the shapes. Other option is to sketch only the major figures and shadow without thinking "oh this is a nose" your brain tricks you about how you think a nose is and makes you ingnore those details that give the likeness.

Draw one piece everyday
Even if it is something really small
U will improve each time,
And u will feel it when u look back at ur old drawings.
Don't be afraid to make mistakes in order to make challenging drawings.

It happened to me. You don't have to do it perfect. It only give stress. Do only one thing and make it better. I made geometric forms a lot of times without worry too. That gave me confidence to draw after when you do lines. .
Learn from mistake by mistake, notice your improvement

So it may depend on what you're drawing. If you keep getting frustrated, start with a pic of something you really like and then cheat. Use tracing paper and a lightbox and make a line drawing from the picture. Then shade it in by eye. Realistically this will help you develop hand eye coordination and muscle memory / control. Don't rely on this too long, as being proficient by just looking at something is much more gratifying. Hope it helps.
I’ve been trying a new art style (realism, I usually do anime) and this actually helped me a lot, I’m still not as good but I’ve made a lot of progress. Thx

I like to draw one of the eyes first and use the width and height of the eye shape as a scale to get the rest of the proportions down.
Whatever works for you.
Being as an beginner I know it,s really difficult but still after practice one day I gonna make sketch's nicely😊

When I'm drawing I take a picture of what I'm working on & I put it next to my reference in my camera roll & then flip quickly between the two & take in any small errors so I can adjust them.
I like doing that but phones do this thing where it tries to save power by going off if you having touched it in a bit of time and it distracts me from what I'm drawing.

Totally agreed about measuring that it can distruct from the whole idea and total image. Actually i'm the beginner but i noticed that when i just draw freely as the lady said it turnes better than if i have to worry about measuring. Thank you so much!

Prolly a little late but anime characters are derived from realistic drawings, try studying realism I promise you'll see a relation in anime its helped me make some of my best work
