Pet corgi dies after groomers in S’pore shop left it alone, CCTV shows it hanging by the neck

- Caption: In May, 2023, a Maltese was found hanging by its own leash after the groomer left for seven minutes to take a smoke break.
She was fined S$8,000 and was disqualified from running any animal-related business for nine months.
SPCA commented: "The short disqualification periods also mean that service providers may re-enter the pet industry soon after their offence, which poses a risk to animal welfare if these service providers are not adequately retrained and rehabilitated."

Do you realize the repercussions for the entire pet dog grooming industry? It will be tainted with fear and misunderstandings. Besides, other associated service providers such as pet dog daycare centres, pet dog obedience training schools, pet retail shops and even veterinary clinics comprising of medical care professionals such as veterinarians as co-partners, veterinary nurses and vet technicians will be adversely and severely affected by trust issues with such rare, unfortunate accidents that occurred. We do not need to go to the extent of further harassment, summoning lawsuit(s) and fighting court case(s) that are profoundly exorbitant $$$ and cruel to the retail service business owner(s) who have sacrificed much and forged many new ties in order to set-up their businesses for the sake of us pet owners and our beloved pets.
They shouldn't leave the furry kids alone in the room. I seriously hope this kind of mistake will never ever happen again!! People out there will never comprehend pets parents feel losing their furry kids.
Why did they put mouth guard on them? It saddens me if my dog gets this kind of treatment. I don’t even leash or put mouth guard when I groom them at home.
Some dogs might chew their leash. Maybe that was the function of the mouth guard.
Very irresponsible that so many pet groomers and not even one left in the salon plus maybe we're gossiping outside the pet shop.
Unless you care for the dogs yourself, letting the same pet groomer shop handle your cases makes no impact. The workers employees working there are caring for the dogs, and these people change often (turnover). Once you got one that is not professional, hell happens. Some shops also are not self-aware and may not take feed backs from customers or employees seriously to implement continuous improvement plans to their work flow.
