  • Come with us as we celebrate Dave's 60th birthday by having an impeccable lunch at Chateau Eza in beautiful Eze Village on the Cote d'Azur.
    After lunch, we tour Le Jardin Exotique d'Eze before winding our way down to the Église Notre-Dame-de-l'Assomption d'Èze, then finish our tour and head back to Saint-Paul-de-Vence.

    Beautiful video! Was the restaurant pricey?

    • @BadMonkeyTouring
      @BadMonkeyTouring  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, it depends on what you call expensive. It's definitely fine dining so for 2 people can cost upwards of €300 if you have wine. In my opinion, it's definitely worth it, especially since you've come so far. If you're looking for cheaper dining, I suggest Le Nid d'Aigle. Good food in a nice setting, but you won't have the million dollar views.

      Thank you for stopping by. The premise of the video is more about celebrating my sister's fiancés birthday by treating them to lunch at Chateau Eza, than it was about the village itself, but that's for the comment. We still appreciate the support. Enjoy the visit.

    Hi, I’m from US Georgia, my husband and I planing to visit and stay at this hotel possibly this May for a week or so, do you suggest we rent a car from Nice airport to this beautiful hotel or take the train/ taxi ? I need to know how can I climb up the hotel entrance. Great video, I found this hotel on Google and glad you shared this video. Thank you for the spectacular view! Vicky

    • @BadMonkeyTouring
      @BadMonkeyTouring  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi Vicky. Thanks for stopping by the channel. It really means a lot. Renting a car at Nice Airport is easy, but in May it can be challenging and expensive because of the Festival de Cannes, which is May 14-25 and the Monaco Gran Prix, which is May 24-26. In fact, I'll probably be there in May for the Gran Prix. That said, having car gives you more freedom, but I'd suggest calling the hotel to see if they have parking available. A week in Eze village, in my humble opinion, is a bit much. It's not a big village and I think you'll get bored. I suggest staying in Nice, where there more hotels, sights and restaurants. On the subject of driving, if your not used to the narrow streets of France, driving can be a bit harrowing and parking is always an issue. Most hotels charge 25-30 euros a day! If you're not mobility limited, getting up to the hotel from the public parking is an easy walk. I'm pretty sure that you can drive up past the public parking and the hotel staff can valet your car and assit with your luggage. For a really nice lunch in Eze, be sure to try Le Nid d'Aigle, and sit under the trees in the cool shade. I can also recommend visiting Saint-Paul-de-Vence, Tourettes-sur-Loup and Gourdon. If you don't mind driving a bit further afield, try to visit Moustiers-Sainte-Marie, only 2 hours and 15 minutes from Nice. These are my favorite villages on the Cote d'Azur. In fact, we own a home within walking distance of Saint-Paul-de-Vence. I have family in Georgia! I'd be happy to suggest some other things to see and do. Go to my Facebook page of the same name (Bad Monkey Touring) and send me a private message.

      @@BadMonkeyTouring Thank you for your kind informative comment! I will definitely visit all these cute villages. I am thinking stay at Antibes or Menton, I like small towns. We definitely going to Chateaux Eze for Lunch or dinner, the view is incredible for special celebrations! Vicky

    • @BadMonkeyTouring
      @BadMonkeyTouring  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Shelikestocookandgarden I'd recommend Antibes because if you stay in Menton, which is a cute town for sure, you'll be at the far East end of the French Riviera, so everywhere you go is a long way. In Antibes, you'll be right in the heart of the Cote d'Azur, so it's about equal time to everywhere.

      @@BadMonkeyTouring oh, that’s a great point! Would it make sense to stop at Paris for few few days or straight to Nice Airport? Really want to visit Dordogne Region as well, this place might be somewhere I can afford to live and want to check out everything around there. My partner won’t have enough time off, wish he would let me just travel myself. Vicky

    • @BadMonkeyTouring
      @BadMonkeyTouring  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Shelikestocookandgarden It all depends on how much time you have. I go to Paris at least once a month on business, and in my humble opinion, that's a trip in itself. So, if time is limited, I's save Paris for another trip. The Dordogne? It's a stunning place, but I've only driven through a couple of times. As travelers, we often try to pack in as much as we can, but in doing so, miss so much. The pace of life in France, especially in the South, is slow, so to get the most out of it try and adapt to their pace. Will you have to come back to explore other areas? Yes, but it'll be well worth it.

      They both have their own character. Eze is certainly the the best tourist village, being perched up on the hillside overlooking the sea, but Saint Paul is, in my opinion, a better place to live.
