    UPDATE May 2023: the entrance fee for the exotic garden in Eze was raised to 7€. Still worth going, we think!

    Always enjoy your videos thank you. I’m interested in the hike you mention from upper EZE down to the lower part. Are there any nice views on that walk please, as I’m a keen photographer and will be visiting EZE when I’m in Nice later this year? Cheers from Australia

      @rivierago  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thank you! Yes, pretty sure there are a few nice views, there always are when being high above the water around here and then changing height levels. It’s been a while that we actually walked all the way down from Eze village to “Eze bord de mer”, so not able to point out a specific spot. If you haven’t already, maybe watch our videos „top 10 lookout points“ and „Nice-Monaco by car“: you’ll see many places that you’ll want to capture (you might need a car to get to most of the spots, though, unfortunately)

    Bravo et merci de prononcer les noms en français et non pas à l'anglaise. C'est très rares les personnes qui font des vidéos en respectant la prononciation. En général c'est n'importe quoi, vous, c'est du très bon travail.
    J'habite près de Grasse, dans la région de ces endroits merveilleux, le plus proche est Gourdon à 50 minutes de voiture, j'y vais plusieurs fois par an même si je connais chaque ruelle dans tous les détails.

      @@rivieragoLes scornaches étaient les ordures de l'époque, les villageois allaient les déverser du haut de la falaise coté est. Pour rejoindre l'endroit de déversement ils empruntaient ce petit passage, d'où le nom qui est resté .
      Difficile à placer dans une conversation mais intéressant tout de même je trouve.

      @rivierago  ปีที่แล้ว

      You can find places for reasonable prices! Difficult to say what exactly you’re looking for, where exactly and if you’ll have a car. We suggest you check via Airbnb or booking.com or the likes to get an idea for what’s available… there are also companies like Pierre & Vacances that rent out apartments for vacation at different price levels. When you get here outside of high season, everything gets more affordable, too, obviously…

    great video!... beautiful villages! I'm hoping to spend 1 - 3 months in Cote d'Azur to paint the landscape there (Im new to oil painting). May I ask could you possibly suggest to me how I might go about finding a studio apartment in a fishing village? (Im on a budget) Thanks a million I appeciate it!

    • @rivierago
      @rivierago  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi, thank you! What time of year are you planning to come? If you avoid July/August it’ll be a lot cheaper already. And what you spend also depends on the village you pick. Fishing villages are e.g. Villefranche-sur-Mer and Saint-Tropez, especially in summer they are very expensive. Further to the west there are Sanary-sur-Mer or La Ciotat or Cassis. To look for a place just check websites like Airbnb - and there are sites like www.lacartedescolocs.fr/ where you can find roommates.

    I enjoy your videos! Hope you can answer a couples of questions. We are spending 3 nights in Antibes, 2 nights in Nice and 2 nights in Monte Carlo. We were only planning to rent a car for one or two days so we can visit villages in hilltop as it sounds like this is the best way to visit the villages. Am I correct that a car is the best way? We definitely want to visit St Paul de Vence. Any advise would be welcomed. This is our first trip to the area and we are going in mid July.

    • @rivierago
      @rivierago  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey, yes, it’s easiest to take a car to the villages! By car, you could probably do 2 villages in one day without having to rush too much. Maybe St.Paul and Gourdon or Tourrettes-sur-Loup in one day and Eze Village on another day (coupled with Cap Ferrat, for example). Enjoy!

    • @dawnroberts415
      @dawnroberts415 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@rivierago Thanks for your quick reply. It sounds like it would probably be best to rent the car on our last day in Antibes rather than Nice. Do you agree? I think we will do St. Paul and Tourettes-our-loup. There is so much to do but I don't want to over book myself. You can't do everything in one visit in 7 days. I already took St. Tropez off the list because the ferry takes 2 hours there and back. Thanks for your advice.

    • @rivierago
      @rivierago  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You’re absolutely right: take it easy, half the fun is enjoying the vibes, the lifestyle, the balmy evenings on the beach (and/or in an outdoor restaurant). Take your time in Antibes (different beaches, old town, the other side: Juan-les-Pins, and the cape!), a day in st. Paul and Tourrettes-sur-Loup, then enough time for Nice… and Monaco!

      It’s funny that you mention the pain d’épices (~ginger bread) from Gourdon: my doctor told me about that same spot just the other day!!! So there must really be something about it… and yes, lovely Tourette’s-sur-Loup. About time we covered that village!!! 😊😊😊

      Hi Tina! It’s definitely easier to get around by car once you leave the coast. Trains don’t go to the villages we’re showing, but there are buses. We use the mobile application “Moovit”, it shows you exactly what bus to use, the times etc. depending on where you want to go and start your journey (make sure to switch to settings for “Cote d’Azur”)

    Loved your video. Beautiful villages. Very well-photographed, organized information, with nice summary flash-cards -- professional-looking. Do you have suggestion for a base to see these villages? We are planning a trip to Provence starting from Aix-en-provence with a base in Avignon or St-Remy, but can add 3-days for this area. Also curious if you have made any such videos for Provence or other regions of France. France is so beautiful, with so many options. Thank you.

    • @rivierago
      @rivierago  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks a lot for your kind words! A good base is everywhere in the department Alpes-Maritimes, so anything between Cannes, Antibes, Nice is perfect. Also the hinterland. You could pick one of the villages directly. None of the places will be more than an hour away, no matter what you pick (unless you stay way up in the mountains).
      We’re planning on doing videos in Provence also, but so far it’s only been the Côte d’Azur/French Riviera…

      Oh, didn‘t we?! We usually try to mention that you should wear sneakers and that there are steep alleys… if we didn’t in this video we’re very sorry! Because yes: it’s pretty hilly in the hinterland of the French Riviera, the Alps dive right into the sea.

      How can you view the video of Gourdon and Eze and not see the very steep and narrrow stairways and understand the effort involved ? The Eze section even tells you that Nietsche's path is 90 minutes walk up and only 45 down.
